Hey everyone, thanks for watching. Before I get overwhelmed with comments, I am well aware that this is in 360p. Just a brief explanation, I usually test render my videos (to check for copyright stuff) at a lower quality, so I can do the check faster. This video was blocked over 18 times, no exaggeration. It was Mann (who's in this video) that convinced me to try to dispute the claim. Being tired and really frustrated, I filled out the form without realizing that I did it for one of the low quality uploads. The claim ended up being released and well... I ain't trying my luck again, son. Nevertheless, thank you to everyone who joined the Patreon when it seemed like this would never see RU-vid screens. Thank you to all the supporters here and on Twitter. Thank you to Mann, Awkwardly, Bre, Kash, Primm, Dub, Nicole, Keek, DeAngelo, GeekToons, Delhi and Tim for all being in this one. It was a lot of fun. And lastly, thank YOU for watching. Stay dope, ya'll. #LongLiveTrapSav One. - Tariq

I feel like many people (including myself) considered A Goofy Movie a Black Movie because of the main plot which was a Principal telling a single parent (which was very common in black households during that time) that his son was on the pathway to being a convict by over exaggerating a situation and gaslighting him which was also a huge issue of that time period. It showed so many comparisons to the life of an African American during the 90s even having the principal low key looking like Ronald Reagan and we ALL know what Ronald Reagan is definitely known for in the 80s.

That's a really good point I never thought about in real life principals and authority figures really had a tendency and still do of overexagerating alot of issues among the black community especially with kids any time a black teen messes up its assumed their on a path of destruction and despair not seeing them as children and all children make mistakes yet when you see massive school shootings (not being racist but we all know what race often is associated with that) the media makes its seem like the shooters were mis guided individuals who needed help I even see people make pages glorifying them, meanwhile your average black kid in a hoodie is considered a way ward threat and as a child of a single mother it's understandable wanting to keep your kids on the right track like goofy does with max and max serves as a good example that one single fathers are just as capable of raising children and max is a good example that being raise in a single parent house hold didnt make him any lesser then his peers all and all great movie

The soup saying Hi Dad was way more impactful than if it said I Love You
@christopherauzenne5023
@christopherauzenne5023 10 месяцев назад
I agree, firstly just writing I love you would somewhat feel disingenuous (you probably at one point said I love you/love you too just because or you just had respond back or something) so it wouldn’t have been as impactful. Goofy in the film remembers the game with the soup and all the memories as “hi dad” not I love you so max writing hi dad shows he still cares and remembers all that

Ye, most movies in this caliber usually just portray one side as abhorrently wrong and they need to give everything up to “”compromise”” like the little mermaid for example.
@kaitlnwhite6809
@kaitlnwhite6809 3 года назад
@@theradionicrevival8068 After I grew up, I hated The Little Mermaid’s plot points. Ariel is 16 and is so ready to give it up to a guy she only looked at once, she’s prepared to never she her family, friends, or home again. And she gets what she wants, which is a TERRIBLE message for impressionable, young children.
@theradionicrevival8068
@theradionicrevival8068 3 года назад
@@kaitlnwhite6809 i doubt any kids were harmed by it, the core message. Follow your dreams and make sacrifices to acheieve the life you want even if its hard yada yada The message is great for kids its just the age thing and how simple they display the complexity of the situation is just the oversight there. The films target audience and even lots of parents won’t notice that tho Same thing with the accidental Stockholm syndrome implications in the beauty and the beast lol
@kaitlnwhite6809
@kaitlnwhite6809 3 года назад

My favorite part of this movie is that rewatching it a little while ago, I noticed something. I think you can actually see the reason Roxanne and Max aren't together in later movies within the first like, minute of this one. And it's that in that intro scene, where Max literally has her on a pedestal. As cute as the two of them are, there really isn't a basis for their relationship besides that they're attracted to each other and they listen to the same artist. And I'm not saying that either of them are bad or wrong for that. What I am saying is that I think they just weren't as compatible as Max thought they would be. And that's why we don't see Roxanne again. Am I looking too deep? Yes. Do I care? No.
@caridadchang7895

I think there was some Disney Christmas movie, one of those direct-to-video ones, where there was a storyline about Max bringing his girlfriend home over winter break during college. Said girlfriend is not Roxanne. It's just amazing how this movie manages to be realistic both within its story and outside of it. You're probably not going to end up spending the rest of your life with your first romantic partner in high school. Same thing for relationships in college. But also, college is usually where a lot of us start to emotionally mature because we're trying to get ready to start working and live independently (at least by American standards, which have become unrealistic, but you'll have to research that yourself), and for a lot of us that makes us a lot more appreciative and a lot less embarrassed by our parents. If it wasn't for that roadtrip, Max would probably have delayed introducing Roxanne to his dad - if at all - for as long as possible. BUT on top of that, with the better (but not perfect, because nobody's perfect) communication with Max and Goofy, we've gone from Max being embarrassed about his dad and Goofy feeling comfortable with who he is, to Goofy being worried about embarrassing Max, but his son is comfortable enough with who he is to bring his girlfriend home for an extended period of time! Combine the Tariq analysis with the Sideways analysis about the music in this movie and just. This movie. THIS! MOVIE! How did it end up being SO GOOD?!

The frustration of how perfect this movie is hits. I look for flaws in everything I watch and I've been watching this movie since my childhood, yet I cannot for the life of me find something wrong with it. They did everything so perfectly in what was basically a niche film. Like why? Why is A freaking Goofy Movie so on point!?! I didn't realize people saw this as a "black" movie. I've never seen it as one and I honestly still don't. The stuff they do throughout the movie that's typically associated with black culture was everywhere in the 90s. It felt like they were just trying to capture what was relevant, which just happened to incorporate a lot of that.

"most of these problems could be solved if they just talked to each other." I always hate that argument or critique cause that can go with 99% of people's problems in real life. It's never quite that simple, and even when it is, people are stubborn or clueless or just dumb. That's always a realistic aspect in movies and shows to me. It's always fine to complain in passing, but whenever people are reviewing things, i just find it silly that they point those things out in movies/shows cause that's the point. It IS that simple, but no one really does that in real life until it's too late or the last minute.

The attention to detail regarding all the little things that made this movie so fucking great is what really sells this piece for me. Well, that and the usual S Tier editing and writing that accompanies your stuff but duuude i found myself enthusiastically nodding in agreement SO much throughout this. Good shit man.

Great analysis and really well done use of the guest stars. I especially appreciated when you talked about the modern setting. I smack my head whenever I see the occasional Disney purist get upset when Disney makes an animated film that's not a fairy tale or a period piece. They should be allowed to make a movie in any time period they want and it's good to see a variety in the settings of Disney's animated movies. "A Goofy Movie" being so contemporary is, as you said, key in why it's resonated with many people. I love the Disney fairy tales and fantasy films as much as the next person, but it's great to see them give us a "Goofy Movie" or "Rescuers Down Under" or "Wreck-It Ralph" once in a while. Heck, "Lilo & Stitch" is one of my favourite animated movies of all-time.

Something I love about the movie (and many people who haven’t seen it in years don’t notice) is that Roxanne isn’t some conceited, rich girl who wouldn’t have given Max the time of day if he didn’t pull off the stunt at the assembly. It’s clear she’s bookish, and just as awkward as he is. So in all likelihood, they had a couple classes together, and he never had the chance to talk to her or ask her out.

So A Goofy Movie actually has a special place in my Heart even though it's not my favorite Disney Movie. When this movie came out, I was at an age where I was growing out of Disney Movies, and I was having difficulty with my dad. In fact, I didn't want to see this movie, but My dad was taking me there because he wanted to do something with me . I remember distinctly not wanting to see this movie and not want to be with him, so I was a lot like Max going into this movie. This movie was what I needed and I was able to see my dad in a different light. It will always be one of the best Movie Experiences I had as a kid with a family member.

i cant believe i havent seen this video earlier! a goofy movie is a movie i watched when i was really young and it...stuck with me. one of the reasons i feel like it's a really good movie is because....a lot of people can relate to it, the core relationship of goofy and max is something i heavily relate to, im neurodivergent, my parents knew about that since apparently ages and instead of getting me the help i needed then they tried to protect me from people who could hurt me because of that, because i grew up in a household not knowing a large part of me i had a strained relationship with my parents and my siblings, and this movie kind of perfectly...encapsulates that strained relationship, i love my family, i care for them deeply but i dont know how to communicate with them easily so we get into fits, what i like and what im into is so different than them that it's hard for us to relate, i am blessed to have a great relationship with my dad, who is most likely also neurodivergent, but goofy and max's relationship just screams me and my moms relationship so much

First of all, this video is SO delightful. The animation cuts just work especially well for this movie in particular. Goofy Movie was just SO fluid and energetic and grand in a way that Disney hasn't done much with since, and it makes the bouncy, expressive nature of your animations feel natural? Like something you'd expect to pop out of one of these character's notebooks or something. Second of all, watching Goofy Movie endlessly as a kid and being enamored with Roxanne ABSOLUTELY made me gay.

I can't personally relate to this as I'm not an immigrant or child of one, but I remember seeing someone who was a first generation child of immigrant parents explaining how a goofy movie really resonated with them, and you could look at all the "goofy-isms" that max is so worried about emulating as things that might make an immigrant stand out like an accent or certain cultural and behavioral differences, and max is the child that really just wants to fit in as much as possible, and as a result may try to distance himself from the language and practices of his family in an attempt to fit in better. That's just one perspective that I really haven't seen before and really stuck with me. I think it is a testament to how well done this movie is though that it can be taken that way but simultaneously it's still relatable and can be interpreted differently by all kinds of people regardless of racial or cultural background.
