Here's your December video. I did promise monthly videos, after all. This was a video that was in the works for a really long time because of how scared I was of releasing it. A lot had to be cut, which you can find in the pinned comment below.

Stuff I didn't put in the video 1. The Reverse Scale in Chinese is specifically known as 青龙逆鳞, and can be found in quite a few Chinese novels. 2. Cecil makes a comparison between Lowell and Xiao, following Line number 13 of The Art of War. However, instead of being able to make a concrete decision of 'which commander is stronger', she is unable to and puts them on par (which is subjective, to be fair). 3. The Martial Arts portion was originally a lot longer (that's why you hear me say 'lets start with Tieshankao', but then I straight up move to the next section immediately). There's a lot of Dragon Imagery, especially for Chun, Xiao and Miris. There's actually a specific style in 'Dragon Kung Fu', and one was pretty heavily documented - 龍形摩橋 (Southern Dragon Kung Fu). However, the stances didn't really look too accurate, so I never went that far into it. There are a few moves that seem to relate (Plum Flower Fist is one that seems really distinct, especially with the stance Miris or Chun make when doing the Flaming Dragon Fist). Unfortunately, there were never enough similarities for it to seem concrete enough to include. 4. The Jian the Liu Fixers use have a cross guard, which, while not unheard of, was pretty uncommon back in the day. 5. Xiao's EGO is based off the Yinglong, also considered a water deity, but not exactly the same as the Dragon God. Sorry if that was misleading! 6. 'Single-Point Stab is another page that references a little bit of a weird part of chinese culture - mainly 'acupuncture', if I am correct. 7. Obviously the Nine Children were...pretty left out, not going to lie - so I'll put a short summary here. 1. bì xì: The strongest. 2. chī wěn: Likes exploring, also noted to protect against fire. 3. tāo tiè: The greediest (their name literally means gluttony), but also noted to bring good fortune. Also has an alternate myth as 'one of the four evil creatures of the world'. 4. yá zì: The bloodthirstiest of them all, likes fighting. 5. bì àn: Hates criminals and judges things, specifically put in prisons to stop things from leaving. 6. suān ní: Likes fire and fireworks, played with them a lot. 7. gōng fù/bā xià: Likes water. 8. jiāo tú: Hates things that enters its lair, often put on gates or doors to stop things from entering. 9. pú láo: It likes music, and is often put on top of bells so they can be 'louder'. Also noted to be *really* small. Edit: Also - I used the wrong "Tiě shān kào" in the video, using "Tiē shān kào" instead. The correct literal translation would be "Iron Mountain Lean" - thanks to ssharkiggo6432's comment for pointing this out!

The “Liu” can mean six and the Chinese surname 刘 Since they are homophones. 刘 Is a surname that originated during the Han Dynasty. the Guan Dao was made during the Han dynasty. Based on some searching 刘 was apparently used to mean “kill” which matches with the whole war scheme of the Liu Association. Just a little something I thought about since the Shi association also play around with homophones. Correct me if I’m wrong •u•

Actually pretty cool, though I don't think that was intended. There's actually a lot of 'lius' that somewhat relate to the Liu Association in *some* way, which is pretty interesting. 六 - liù, meaning six (the really obvious one) 流 - liú, meaning flow ("flow" of the sword, etc.) 柳 - liǔ, meaning willow ("a lone tree cannot form a forest") I didn't really go that far into it as there's a lot of meanings a chinese character could have - there's probably a 'liu' out there for boiling emotion or something like that, but I don't think that ProjectMoon thought that far ahead, unless their writers are 10000 iq Also, another thing is that 刘 , 六, 流 and 柳 actually technically aren't homophonic - their pronunciations differ by a bit. They're all spelled liu, but note the romanization of these characters 六 - liù 刘 - liú 柳 - liǔ 流 - liú From a native chinese speaker's perspective, only two of these characters are truly 'homophonic' in that they share the same pronunciation and spelling, being 刘 and 流. Still, a really interesting observation! If you aren't actively studying Chinese, you've actually scrutinized quite a lot, which is pretty impressive. One thing to note is that even though the Japanese do derive their characters from the Chinese language (for example, 四 and 死), they don't share the same romanization system. Therefore, the 'Shi' association is 'truly' homophonic. However, the Chinese version would have different 'true' pronunciations, so your observation on the Shi is fully accurate! 8/10, A for effort (i'm kidding this was a really interesting read)

The fire aspect might have come from the Art of War as well, since it did dedicate an entire chapter (ch. 5 or 6) to how to use fire in warfare

You're right! I think it's chapter 12? I didn't really go into it as much as chapter 6 brought up all five elements, and thought that was probably something easier to follow through on.

Another reason why I adore this game with all my heart. You can see just how much effort and research was put into this game just by looking at the sprites and reading the story. Project moon really went all out for their second game

Just checked. The Chinese translation of tieshankao is actually”铁山靠” which means iron mountain lean.

you're actually right - i messed up the pinyin on this one, using Tiē shān kào instead of Tiě shān kào. that one's kinda on me - my bad. thanks for pointing it out!
