My village has had a traditional spring fair for over 750 years. It is the big event of the year, and this year it has a log splitting contest! I enjoy everything about the woodlands and harvesting logs carefully for my fires - but I have never had so much fun with an axe before!

G'day mate, great video. Just found your channel from the big gum trees in Victoria, Australia. Hope that I might be able to initiate something like this one day. I also really appreciate your other videos, especially the gentle and generous tips, as well as the love of old axes and belief in getting the best out of a long forgotten tool. Cheers mate.

Thanks, it was fun, and I hope it's given you some ideas!?? I didn't notice that he speeded up at the end - a sprint finish! I might not be fit enough to do that.

Its excellent Vince and it certainly wasn't about the winning, though the trophy that gleams next to me, is quite impressive! I would argue my second had a good reason for wanting to ensure I won.

An impressive gleaming trophy, and your name engraved in the village's history - as Queen Victoria was once told, nobody remembers who came second! Enjoy the spoils and we'll see who takes up the challenge next year! Maybe you and I are one team next year?? As winter begins, nice to look back on the spring fair.

It was amazingly close! I was six little logs behind Chris at the finish, maybe 15 seconds. But my fault - I was way ahead with my second log and didn't notice that he had speeded up!!

Morning, I really enjoy making the videos and the conversations that follow. I am trying to help my 91 year old father and am work busy just now - I will film more as soon as I can create a few spare days. I have loads of ideas and it is frustrating not to have enough time just now. All best. Vince
