Very interesting, I have a trip next month, the plane arrives to Gatwick on sunday and we have to take the national express bus to Heathrow, we have a window of 4.5 hours and the flight connection is with british airlines in both planes, we are planning to have only hand suitcases for the travel, and I was thinking to buy the tickets online (there are tickets within 12 hours of delay) but according to the comments we could use a taxi if we arrive at least 1 hour after to Gatwick. I will comment you guys again after my trip.
So, how was your experience travelling by national express from Gatwick to Heathrow Airports ? I am arriving at Gatwick and departing from LHR with a window of 5 hours. Any tips ?
Well Im back in Costa Rica and I have to say that the 12 hours ticket was our best option , the flight from SJO to Gatwick was delayed by 2 hours , but the airline programmed another flight from heathrow at 2 pm, the coach was on time and we were on our way in just 15 minutes, I recomentd this opntion for future travelers, regards! The cost was very reasonable. Landing and take-off views beautiful sunrise/sunset in the world. Enjoyed sight seeing and London road trips with waterloocars.co.uk/airport-transfers-london.php on the express way and surroundings.

Approximately how long would you say it takes from Terminal# 3 (Gate: 17) to National Express Bus station? I will be traveling soon. After I will land in Heathrow, I will need to go to Gatwick, I am planning to take a bus. I will have only 3 hours from plane to plane. Any useful information would be greatly appreciated.
Hello, unfortunately, I cannot help you with that situation. But I want to let you know that I will have the same problem, and I think that We are not only ones. I would appreciate it if you could later-after the trip write some advice if it is possible to catch a flight in just 3 hours. I think that the best option is a national express, but I'm not sure if it is enough to get to the airport 55 min before the flight. Thanks
@@dominikwalach1323 Hi. We missed the plane!! But I would do it again! Here is how our trip went: we were flying into Heathrow from Los Angeles. Plane was on time, but Heathrow airport was congested, so plane had to circle a little. After landing, plane had to wait for available gate. Once we got off the plane, the walk from plane to luggage collection belt was very fast, practically walked through border/passport check (~10min). Then we had to wait for luggage for ~20 min. Walk to National Express was very quick (~10 min), just follow the yellow signs, very easy! With all the “plane/airport delays” and luggage delay we already lost 1 hour and ~10 min. One we got to National Express terminal I asked, where do we go/do next? The person at the counter said, “buss will be in 30 min, just wait inside and watch the board”. It turned out the National Express is quite chaotic there. We sat inside the buss station for ~15 min, then I decided to walk out by the bus stops, I saw there was one bus going to Gatwick, so we quickly walked out, but it was already full. Then I asked a guy by the terminal, when is the next buss coming, he said “in about 30 min”. The next bus came in about 45 min. That was my first-time traveling from Heathrow to Gatwick, so I was not sure how long it will take. It took about 1 hour and 15 min. So, we arrived at Gatwick late 😊. The plane was still on the ground, but the check-in was already closed - bummer! So, we had to buy new tickets, because American and/or British Airways were NOT willing to help. I originally purchased the ticket through British Airways, but the flight was with American. I believe I was late because the plane had to circle, had to wait for available gate and luggage wait. But, according to American and British Airways the plane came in on time, they are not responsible for delays, because of Heathrow airport. So, we had to spend a night in Gatwick and continue our journey the following morning 😊 Would I purchase a ticket with 3 hour overlay again - possible, but few things I would do different and would recommend others. • Sure, if there is an option to get 4-5-hour overlay ticket, take that. • If the ticket with 3-hour overlay is still the best deal, take it, and have a plan - b, that you may need to take taxi, if the plane is late for some reason. • If you spent more than 1 hour to get from plane to National Express - take taxi. • Don’t wait inside the National Express buss station, go outside and ask the guys in green vests, when is the next bus to Gatwick, if you feel, it is taking too long - take taxi. Also ask, what will be the travel time for the next bus to Gatwick, because the travel time varies. • Don’t buy National Express bus ticket in advance (online), buy it when you know when the next buss is and how long it will travel till Gatwick, else you can spend that money on taxi. In closing, yes, I would buy the 3 hour overlay ticket again, if the price is right. I would just have the taxi, as a plan - B. If the plane really is late and it is clearly the plane’s fault, the chances are high that airplane company will put you on different flight at no extra charge. I used this service and will never again. The driver was horrible. He refused access to a girl with a paid ticket on her phone claiming it wasn't real, just a picture! He allowed 2 passengers to leave the train thinking it was heir destination and only another passenger stoped it
