All these references to the 15th of May, which happens to be my birthday begs me to say thank you Richard and Eddie for such a wonderful birthday gift. The efforts of the Pipers must be congratulated. What a great way to honor not only the incredible London Irish Rifles, but the Poles, Italians, British, American, and even the German Paras that fought at Monte Cassino. I also learned of battles that the Irish contributed in that I didn't know before. You are both a credit to your father and the Irish people. Erin Go Brahe! (I hope that this is not offensive, I mean it with all respect)

Dark Isle bagpiper plays a very lovely "Flowers o the forest" on RU-vid. Dick Gaughan also sings a lovely version. I had to pause and listen in Remembrance. I will never forget these brave men.

This was an epic episode with Edmund on the show and Richard in the sidebar, and both in Cassino for the 80th anniversary. The O'Sullivan's connections of people that met because of Cassino, were moving 80 years later. Having visited many places they mentioned brought back memories of time spent in Cassino trying to find out more about James Francis Carr. James grandfather emigrated to the US from Kilcar, Ireland. James would be drafted and go to Italy and die 81 years later after being wounded at Snakeshead Ridge. Hard to fathom all the people who died, military and civilian, because of some madmen. Hope we can do better. Thanks as always Woody.

Extraordinary and lovely. Truly lovely. All of it. I like very much Mr. O'Sullivan's homage to the engineers: "Italy is very much an engineers war...a hugh proportion of the progress of the allies was due to the[ir] work ....very important they are not forgotten."

Howdy folks! Ed talks of the London Polish unit of the British Army in the Cassino fight with an amazing collection of stories and facts, pride and love. Tremendous insight into the fighting men of the UK and Poland.

Re: Renactors. In the US its offen same guys doing either side because of the need for re enactors. Only difference is the weapons here might be that the weapons including artillery are usually functional.

I will play this to my Royal Engineers cadets. Many of them are Polish. Ex London Irish Rifles.

Can we be in touch? There is a thanksgiving service in the Cathedral Church in Aldershot to mark the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Rome in which II Polish Corps played a critical role. Perhaps you and your cadets might like to be there.
