Hello Robert, we have 2-3 feet of snow and about -4 Fahrenheit lately. Your videos brings me back on my road trips to US. Its not just about what you show or where you go, its about the way you talk, your voice, the music, the camera cut, no one does it the way you do and thats the reason I really enjoy each video from you. Manny greetings from Czech republic.
I found the failed abandoned power plant sculptures very interesting. I like the way you always sniff out interesting things and places with content to show us. Thanks Robert great video.
I love these travel videos !Robert , it briefly gets me back out on the road and see Places I wouldn’t see in my daily life. I always appreciate your adventures. So don’t ever think what your showing us isn’t interesting. Love it , thanks for sharing ,😍
I really enjoyed the views from your camera in this video, the desolate beauty is completely different from where I live in Florida. Even as a long haul truck driver I never see places like these from my truck . Love the channel!
Oh Robert, Great Basin is a hidden gym and very high in elevation. It is so worth staying a couple of days. Pear trees to eat from. Gorgeous lakes and creeks. Go back!
So sorry you didn’t have time t see more of Ely and the Great Basin park. Lehman Caves are amazing. You drove right past my son’s ranch on Sacramento Pass, he has the antler arch over his driveway.
I'm so glad that you put gas in just before the Loneliest Road! Beautiful mountains even throughout all of the smoke! ⚗I don't blame you for taking several breaks!!!🛁🌮🥱😴☕
This video was delightful, I paused for a moment trying to come up with a description that best described how I felt, and that was it, delightful. I always enjoy the open road, and it was nice not bring in any hurry to get anywhere. Great cooking segment, during it I said to myself “I wonder if he turned off the smoke alarm” and then there was the alarm…. The solar ruins were the icing on the cake. Loved it.
When I hear people talk of the world being over populated I think of massive places that have nothing there. Also, I read that the population of the world can easily fit in the state of Texas. Another good one Robert, thank you.
Wow, I thought all the roads in this video were lonely and desolate, definitely wouldn't want vehicle problems here. You are right though, very creepy vibes where the pony express trail was. Thank you for making and sharing this great video Robert, stay safe!
Hi Robert: We were in southern Idaho (Treasure Valley area) for almost a week, during the time you were there, late August. The smoke from the wildfires was absolutely horrendous. I think the worst was trying to drive there via Reno and Winnemucca, Nevada. Could barely see the lanes on the freeway. Not good for someone with COPD! We never saw a clear day while we were visiting Idaho...stunningly beautiful, nonetheless. Thank you for another wonderful trip around the country! 🌵🌲🌴🏜😍
Wow. Just missed you Robert! I was in Ely on Aug 17, 2020. Stopped in to see the Northern Nevada Railroad Museum - it made up for the boring drive on 93. The place was great. It had old engines, an entire railyard and a working steam engine. Took multitudes of photos.
OH MY GOD, I LOVE the add about, THE ROAD AHEAD. I SO want to go there. I got chills. I love your videos. You show so much of the country. THANKS for being out there. ❤
Hi Robert, hope everything is going great for you. I thought while watching your cooking scene that it would be nice if you had a Recipe cookbook to sell in your store. You could call the Cookbook Secrete recipes from Traveling Robert. The name is not as important as the food looks very good. You make it look so very easy to do. Yes, it was very smokey in parts of the video. Thank you for sharing my friend
Oh you're getting close to my neck of the woods. Can't wait to see your adventures on the Alpine loop! 😬 As you were going around Utah lake I thought I saw my house... Okay my town 😜 Thanks, Bill
Great episode. Love this part of the country. Lots of untold history all around there! And yes it's eerily quiet and also interesting at the same time.
Ild like to see more aerial shots of some of these desolate areas. Those aerial shots you took of the dunes a while back were awesome, truly awesome: Ive passed through that way several times but never really appreciate the dunes expanse until I saw you aerial shots. Please more of these!
It's incredible there are no cars on the road😳 we just drove thru east texas and visited the colorado state park and on the way back at night, there was no one in the roads, dark, at night, crazy scary ☺️🤣🤣
Delta has a great museum about the Topaz Internment Camp that was used during WW2. You can also visit the actual internment camp site. History lesson in Delta!
Robert drives the loneliest road so we don't have to :-) Actually the basin and range scenery is quite beautiful, but the emptiness of it gets overwhelming after awhile. The smoke you in Nevada was about as bad as what I encountered in October--imagine driving through Monument Valley with visibility like that! The railroad museum in Ely is really cool, too bad you didn't have time for a visit. Happy trails!
We actually drove from Utah to Reno on that hwy last June. We spent the night in Ely at the Hotel Nevada. It is actually a pretty historic hotel. Many famous movie stars and other people have stayed there. Next to us was the Mickey Rooney room. We then continued on to Reno where it took the rest of the day. That hwy deserves it's reputation. Glad I did it but not much to see. Only 2 or 3 more little towns from Ely to Reno. Got to give credit to people who live out there. They are more hearty than I am.
Yep, remember that smoke from those West Coast fires well!!! It got so bad here in Washington that it became difficult to breathe at times. And the smell was horrid.
Interesting info about the pony express when stopping the video at 7:18. A horse could go at a full gallop for 8 to 12 miles and they turned over the mail to a new rider at each home station located 75 to 100 miles apart. If you think you're a million miles from nowhere now, imagine what this was like 150 years ago. That area is good practice for future astronauts exploring Mars.
Hello Traveling Robert😊😊🎸🎸, I really liked the cooking show. When I saw that you placed the tortilla wrap directly on the burner, I was like what are you doing Robert😊😊😊, but it came out great. I have drivin through the Great Basin & Range region years ago from Rhode Island( you have been there Robert ) to San Francisco. The I-80 section through Nevada was very interesting, Desert valleys and mountain ranges all the way through Nevada. Us 93 from Twin Falls to Ely was very remote with gas station very sparsely located, over 100 miles to the next station. Ely looks like a old wild western town and the Utah version seems as remote as Nevada. I will soon be visiting National Parks that I haven't seen yet. Robert, Im coming to Miami and onto KEY WEST🎵🎵🎵, and visiting National Parks Biscayne, Everglades, and the Dry Tortugas! I will also be visiting Glacier and Big Bend this year. Can't wait to see lots of PELICANS and more PELICANS...Fly PELICANS😊😊😊! Looking forward to the next video footage of Utah. I have been to Utah several times and have visited all of the National Parks as well, and many state parks too. I will be very interested to see where the road takes you. Great video Robert👍👍👍.
Awesome video Robert.I really enjoy watching the journey aswell as the sights and locations Utah is going amazing videos. Can't wait to see the next video
Between the smoke and your pain in the neck this trip was almost a waste. But, the smoke finally cleared and the views were very nice without going up into wild mountain range off in distance. So really nice little towns you went through. I have a tip for you the next time you sleep wrong and get that pain in the neck. Sit up straight, head up looking forward. Slowly roll your shoulders back as far as you can. Then try rolling your shoulders downward as far as you can. Hold for a few seconds. Don't hurt yourself. Repeat it a few times with rest time in between. Wouldn't hurt to take an advil too. It works surprisingly quick. The guy who came up with the solar energy plan should have tried to harness the energy of the wind. The wind seemed to be were all the energy was. lol
I've been over 50. It is out there half way between resume speed and hysterical marker! "Utah" means U-Turn Around Here". If you're driving and see a sign that says UTAH, turn around and go back!
Next time you go on HWY 50 trying staying a night at Sacramento Pass BLM. One of the neatest free camping areas near where that gas station was. Also Great Basin National Park is worth a stop. Wheeler peak has a lot of camping. The caves there are awesome.
It was nice to see things that are familiar jackpot fly there every New Year’s morning for breakfast they denied it really took the loneliest road to Carson City took it across Utah very familiar really enjoyed it thanks when you pulled into Salt Lake City drive that road all the time
Robert love your videos. Your choice of music during videos is great too. Keep up the traveling. By the way hope you've invested in a GPS while hiking. Lots of love from texas.
I travel highway 50 from Carson City area to UT pretty regularly. I think I know every curve and mountain pass on it! Austin, Eureka, and Ely are cool little towns to check out. Also check out Middlegate Station and their Monster Burger. Make sure you are gassed up because there are some pretty long stretches between stations. I stayed at that camp ground in Delta last September too. Not bad but I thought a little pricey. Showers were nice.
OMG Dude I’m so jealous of you. Your living my life. Everything from your truck and trailer to all your destinations. It is the journey not the destination.
Hello Robert, did you know that in Arizona we have the only pony express that still delivers mail for the USPS. The Hashknife Pony Express delivers mail from Holbrook to Scottsdale every year to kick off the Parada del Sol. Perhaps you can time your visit next year. It's quite a sight to see the riders on horseback come into downtown Scottsdale. Thank you for your wonderful videos.
