The arcadey aspect is what is *really* turning me off after Gates of Hell. It was the realism in previous games that made Men of War as unique a series/franchise(?) that it is. But if its just gonna be another arcade, might as well play something else then imo. I hate the new tank behaviour. Again, in Gates of Hell the realistic speed of the tank itself and of turning of the turret made room for consideration such as: "should i turn my entire hull around in the direction I wanna shoot in to make my turret aim faster? What if that ends up exposing my thinner side armour?" The fog of war for me, since GoH was pretty good imo because camo or no camo, the tank still makes noise, giving away its position. The weapon icons over troops is just unnecessary. Dont like it. And last but not least: the art style. I hate it. Too cartoonish. And most German uniforms look blue (and not grey) for some reason.
Tanks work as they always have, MOWAS2 had tank HP, just hidden. The engagement ranges are the best they've ever been if you're playing carefully (I was sniping tanks from 300-400m at times with other tanks or guns, which would be unthinkable in MOWAS2). There will also be day 1 mod support so a probable Valour 2 or something similar will fix a lot of your problems. Tanks don't have much new behaviour other than actually showing the HP bar that was hidden before.
Sadly, on the internet you have to be prepared to see what people say no matter if "you asked" or not. In real life too, trust me, listening even if you didn't ask about something makes making friends a lot easier.
That was their from the start. They were never going for realism but it only needs a few tweaks to make it right. Actually better than I thought it was going be
@@KeirGevo Yeah I was pretty bummed when I played the test but it is still probably salvageable through mods. Assault Squad 2 isn't the epitome of realism either unless you use mods like Robz.
I thought gates of hell was the next entry? Did I just completely miss that part? Ostfront will be amazing when they get the us and Britain and such into the game
@@devanmcghee6123 Gate of Hell is kind of a mod of Call to Arms, but I bet it is much better than the MOW, especially the realism aspect. Especially its most recent Update and DLCs they are awesome, Finnland faction is rare in any WW2 games!
I sure loved non functioning aircraft that would crash into everything and fortifacations that would completely block off The line of fire from my emplacements and The 5 year long firefights because each soldier could eat a entire magazine if The firefight was further than 10 meters. AS2 sucked. Robz did not.

We want realism. not arcade. We want heavy mod integration. We want heavy micromanagement. We want AS2 style game mode for sp & mp. They have managed to go the complete opposite direction of what people have been wanting and playing for a decade. like i said before on other posts about mow. please someone just upgrade the x32 to x64 in mowas2. Why are studios constantly watering/dumbing down games?
@@HowDost I do! But its a shame to see developers pushing the arcade experience. Everything feels light and washed. no sense of wieght. Im sure you know what I mean!
Fans: Make us another awesome, realistic Men of war Game! Devs: Fuck you, Here is an Arcade Game. Fans: Oh, so your turning into the Battlefield franchise completely changing your game DNA? Devs: Yeah.
I was kind of bummed it was MP only playtest. Haha. Going towards an arcade direction will backfire. Not like it has mass appeal regardless. And they just did the opposite of what all long term MOW fans want. 3:23 I've always wanted MOW to do that. I didn't even realize it wasn't a thing until recently when tried it and my entire squad was mowed down just outside the building haha
Whelp... Its exactly what I feared... Which is the same shit that happened to the new Company of Heroes... Rushed... Corners cut... And fans be damned... What a fucking shame.
Nice vid man but I must ask why you choose to change the cam to you sitting in your car? lol Most people who make these kinda vids just show gameplay while talking and that just made it kinda weird and out of place. Just my opinion though.
MoW 2 UI is very unfriendly for me Unlike its predecessor AS I jumped into multiplayer match straight away because I thought it will be the same But not, so I instantly uninstalled it
i think the medic bring back the heavily wounded inf back to barrack makes more sense, rather than as2 medic automatically resurrect people on spot and able to fight after that
I'm looking more for a realistic single player experience, not a fan that I'm hearing that they're going for a more arcadey feel with MoW 2. I was a fan of how you had specific soldiers with the medic role and had to micromanage that role.
As I said on Sherman video for MoW2 ''As much as i ''like'' MoW2, i cant get pass over the ''deck'' build, being able to only spawn the same unit a few time or Tank gun/arty unlimited range''
I don't mind the deck thing as it limits heavy tank spam and forces people to use AT guns that's a good thing. Also the dev dissappear in combined arms mode allowing to bring any unit of that army (OFC limited numbers) then agian most men of war players won't be familiar with decks but those who played steel division would be familiar. If you hate the division thing just play combined arms also at guns can be attacked by infantry paratroopers artillery flak and various weapons. Also sometimes at is unesscary if no armoured decks are chosen
The problem with Men of War is that T doesnt know if It wants to be a sim or a game. For a "game" balance and unrealistic gameplay are a necessity, for a Sim its irrelevant.
Game so far is arcadey garbage. Here's hoping the majority of the feedback is telling them we want realism. If not then we just have to put all of our hopes into modders.
Okay this shitstorm gotta stop... I really enjoy the old series and btw i also really enjoy the new men of war 2. Yes, it has been made faster but you can still order individually solders around, pick up dropped weapon ammo ect. You can now build effective trenches and the engineer aspect of the game is, remind you, NOT looking for a base building game, is quite good. yes, the medics spawn in and despawn, but so does all your other troops, just further behind and this only speeds up unnecessary delays. People keeps saying it's "arcadey", which i also strongly disagree on. There has ALWAYS been a health bar on your units (tanks), but now they just show it to you instead of hiding it (yes, look at game FAQ) the most core and important mechanic for tanks is still penetration, range and angle which they still uphold to this day. there are NO microtransaction so that's better than most games atm. and last but not least, there WILL be mod support for the game, the devs. already states it will be a key feature of the game.
The features look good, but the graphics really suck imo, otherwise it looks okay, stuff like the movement was cool but the rest just seems like a move back in a weird way, I’ll be sticking with GoH but good to have options
Artillery was too good. It literally could hit anywhere on the map and was fairly accurate about it. I often would find my rear guard unites long dead before the front saw actual combat. Oh the Trench digging mechanic is actually reasonable now but you're troops aren't smart enough to use trenches to zip around the place to avoid enemy fire they'll only go into them if specifically ordered to.
@@orange630 I'm a pretty slow player there were times I thought AS2 moved a bit fast for me so having to always move artillery while managing other troops would quickly overwhelm me. I like giving general orders to troops and letting them figure it out how to achieve said orders themselves
I did kinda like artillery when there was one in both teams, essentially becoming a counterbattery 1v1 until one perveils and becomes a significant advantage to their team. That being said I figured out the dugouts and camo nets were pretty useless if the enemy had artillery, since you were always dead if you sat your guns in those for longer than few shots. Best tactic I found out was to shoot and quickly attach back to the tracor and reposition, making it harder to counterbattery you. The 150-203mm guns were very accurate and would always hit a stationary field gun or atleast kill the gun crew from the other side of map. trenches could also be flatten with them. The SPGs such as isu-152 felt very strong as they couldnt be counterbatteried without almost direct hit, what was hard when you could move right after shooting. The airstrikes were very annoying and OP tho. Overall I think the artillery has great potential and rewards for skillful tactics.
i really liked the faster pace that was possible with less micromanagement. But i would like to see having the option to bunker into a position and using the micromanagement besides this faster gameplay.
Im probably one of the few people that actually likes what they are going for over men of war assault squad 2. I think they are trying to make the game more competitive and Arcady to help with balance and more player friendly one of my main problems that i didn't like about men of war assault squad 2 was that with tanks it very much felt like who ever had the heaviest tank with the bigger gun would destroy any other tank on the map is3 comes out or centurian and any other tank is pointless. you could try to artillery it but it felt very iffy and random if it would actually get killed. airplanes are not as strong as you think in many games ive played during the playtest if you have proper anty air most planes will get one bombing run then die the main problem i found was artillery being way too accurate and being able to shoot anywhere on the map. If you are playing an artillery regiment half the game you will just be counter arty the enemy artiller player and if you lose the arty battle thats it your stuck for the rest of the game with nothing but inf as the enemy blows up your allies uncontested with 203. Another problem i encountered was with artiler spotters they have to high of stealth players combined with the arty that is godly accurate will destroy anything on the map since arty spotters have really high stealth and recon you could just send a bunch into the enemy spawn and see everything they have while pounding them with arty. You spawn your own arty gun? instantly gets bombed on spawn and dies do to a spotter you cant find.
It seems you haven’t played the game enough, and it seems your words are rushed out 1. For example, there are stealth units in this game more than any other in the series, there are units that can work behind enemy line kinda like commandos games, to the point they can see the vision of the enemy as a red cone 2. I can understand that some are disappointed that this is not being the AS3, but hey that is your mistake assuming it’s going to be the next AS2 in the first place 3. Yeah, it is more arcadey, in a good way and that’s what the fans of the more successful games like andI assume that’s what the devs want, more fans as opposed to us, selective AS2 lovers, it’s time to take off that egg shell off their heads and follow what other developers did to become more successful 4. Speaking of ARCADEY, compare the number of players from DOTA to the entire MOW game fans, and the numbers will make those games look poop 5. Basing your opinion on what your brain was expecting is rather too dumb or short minded 6. When this game release, you will eat your words 7. I personally will enjoy this new game, especially that I already have one good game in the franchise that still fallows the path of AS2, THAT IS GOH which is still pouring new content. That said why would you expect another copy of a similar game? Isn’t that stupid? 8. The thing on top of the enemy units is called hotbar not marker, and BTW you can turned it off in settings, yeah that’s how much shallow your homework was before reviewing the game. Funny thing it’s called honest review 9. You are speaking of them taking away feature from AS2, what? These are deferent developers, m8 go do some homework before you jump on YT with a BBC style review 😂 10. “ MoW2 is finally here”, what a bold title!! It was a MP test, that means they are testing their servers 11. You didn’t talk about other features like, unit formation, server reconnect, the new 64 bit engine, game performance……. My advice, next time do some research and take off that half egg shell on your head so you can see the bright side
@@Alaa_Tariq "2. I can understand that some are disappointed that this is not being the AS3, but hey that is your mistake assuming it’s going to be the next AS2 in the first place" No you don't, if its a different game, make a different title, when you throw a product out and throw a sequel to your product, your consumer base has expectations taken from the first, they would like what was good about the original product and other improvements. All the previous men of war games followed along the same path with some differentiation, much of this from the art style to the game play are vastly out of expectations, unknown, unfamiliar, not "men of war" like Realistically, who cares if you like it being arcady, look at a company perspective? The desire is to gain the support of the previous fans AND collect new players. That is business, the further you stray from the original path, its closer to false advertising. On a business level, this is a risky move, if older fans dont like this, they have to start their player base near scratch and if that doesnt work, the game is flop. Word of mouth communication, if a person likes the game, they spread the info, if older fans are satisfied, the are much more likely to play and spread the word, thus expand the further player base. If you lose the old player base, you lose a potential future growth in players. You dont understand the disappointment. I DO NOT argue they are making improvements, they are, HOWEVER, these improvements plus a drastic change in some of the general core men of war aspects make it look less like men of was. It's not like a brand new game title where you could expect anything with additionally no player base, no this is a game with strong established player base, they have hopes and expectation, and a drastic move like this would damage such ideals, its like being lied to. I own gates of hell ostfront and men of war as2, I know both are similar, so what did I expect out of Men of War II, I expected a similar style to as2 except with unique things, functions, game play, and such opposed to ostfront "4. Speaking of ARCADEY, compare the number of players from DOTA to the entire MOW game fans, and the numbers will make those games look poop" All you previous remarks have good ground with some being ignorant. This however is just stupid, STICK TO THE TOPIC GENRE. Fantasty vs WW2, do you know the scaling factors of those, fantasy will 10x outweigh WW2. In addition, the different game genres, you are comparing apples to oranges. Also I'll use DOTA as a refernce for anther statement of yours. "3. Yeah, it is more arcadey, in a good way and that’s what the fans of the more successful games like andI assume that’s what the devs want, more fans as opposed to us, selective AS2 lovers, it’s time to take off that egg shell off their heads and follow what other developers did to become more successful" DOTA 2 is a direct competitor to League of Legends. DOTA is slower pace, less "arcady", etc, who has the smaller player base? DOTA Many people will prefer fast arcady things, they dont want to think, they want to play. I play milsims, its a very small playerbase as most just play Battlefield, CoD, etc. Those games have barely coordinated gameplay. Unlike a milsim, you wont get shot 2km away, you wont have a single player that makes entire team of 40+ win or lose, its largely run an gun. Slower paced games ALWAYS have a smaller playerbase, people (especially kids) play to play. For example a tank in battlefield and cod vs a tank in post scriptum or hell let loose. In cod and battlefield, one person can drive, shoot, and basically control entire tank, the player is the gunner, driver, and commander. In post scriptum and hell let loose, the tank requires a crew of multiple players in different roles, a commander, a gunner, a driver, and in post scriptums case, a hull machine gunner. To an arcady cod/bf player, that is boring for their trigger happy mind willing to shoot, for more realistic game seekers, it hits the spot of communication, realism, and fun. Arcady is more popular, if you switch the fundamental game play form realistic to arcady harshly, you kill the original player base. It is better to make a different title.
"Stealth Unit" seems too arcade to me, even the Company of Heros has some stealth units. In real life, any unit should be able to go stealthy. And since we have the COH franchise as a WW2 RTS arcade game, I don't need another WW2 RTS arcade game for obvious reasons. I came to MOW for its realism aspect which I cannot seek anywhere else. Thank you, but I would stick to Gate Of Hell from now on.
@@jerryudonneedtoknow3903 >when you throw a product out and throw a sequel to your product let me stop you right here Assault Squad, and Assault squad 2 were developed by DMS Best Way haven't developed MoW games since, well, MoW in fucking 2009

This has got to be some of the most disappointing news I’ve heard in a long time really hope they get their shit together and pivot back to what MOW is meant to be
My only issue with assult squsd 2 was how annyoing axis heavy tanks where the good news here is only certian decks have em and they vunrable to bombing or at guns makes for more interesting play really as assult squad 2 was rwally just a wait for heavy tanks
Realism < Fun, I had fun in MOWAS2 against bots and goofing around with mods but Competitive MP in MOWAS2 is braindead, here I actually had fun in Competitive MP for the first time in a long time in a game like this. This MP test is what CoH1 felt on release - a breath of fresh air into WW2 or generally RTS games with improvements and new mechanics that make the game more fun first, and in the wake of CoH3's garbage release, I think this is good. If you want to play MOWAS2 or GOH, surprise surprise, those games still exist. Besides, the devs are working on day 1 mod support so your comment on mods from 8:35 is dumb. There will be mods that make it more realistic and the new game engine will most likely allow for better modding anyway. Stealth is realised via new stealth mechanics. You can camo tanks and shoot with them less to keep them hidden. You can use special forces infantry to infiltrate enemy lines. You are literally flat out wrong about the "No more sneaking behind enemy lines with red devils". You are flat out wrong (and have a skill issue) when it comes to unit spawning and tactics. I did what you said in the video "units had to get to the frontline in the blink of an eye without any need for tactics" and lost every battle. When I actually played tactically and responded to enemy movements on the map, switched sides of attack with a quick retreat and redeployment or used mobile units to my advantage I found myself winning more often than not. Stop making your skill issue seem like part of the game. Once again skill issue complaining about the planes, because if you actually played the game you would strategically deploy AA. I had a game where I was spamming air and infantry, and when my enemies deployed as much as two flak 88s it was over for planes. I had the reverse happen, I played games where me and my team had to deploy 4 AA guns and countered all of enemy air and then utilised arty barrages to creep forward with infantry into their trenches. Also trenches and bunkers are super important. Otherwise you just lose, and airstrikes are not that powerful. "Just call an airstrike on the tank" literally just move the tank another skill issue. When it comes to your complaints about infantry micro, would you really prefer to try and get some medics to the frontline and have them die to a random mortar before they even get close like in MOWAS2 or actually make them viable, same for the building stuff. I found the window positioning nice, but so tedious. Oftentimes I would click my infantry out of the building trying to set them up in a window and even if I did get the correct windows they would get completely demolished by 1 bullet. Infantry in MOWAS2 was always a bit garbage to be fair. Your complaints are petty. MOWAS2 vets are little babies who cannot handle a new game. Also I don't understand what people mean with the "arcadey" thing. Aside from slightly less survivable tanks, but even then if you engage at range and actually play carefully then you can even preserve a Puma for 20 minutes or more. Guns also cannot damage stuff they cannot pen so tanks can still have shots plink off them. Unless you have bad teammates that suicide tanks into infantry or AT guns tanks can do pretty well. Here is what was more arcadey about previous installments: - Small engagement ranges This meant tanks and artillery had to be real close to eachother to do anything and artillery being semi-untouchable meant that you needed to rush it down or just accept that you will have no infantry. As well as MGs being garbage, I used them sometimes in my 360 hours of MOWAS2 playtime and generally never had them perform good at all. This time MGs, if properly placed and frotified are an actual threat to infantry and require a breakthrough force of combined arms. - Better combined arms gameplay In MoW2 I actually found myself trying to use all elements along with my teammates. We needed planes, AA, artillery, infantry and tanks, because otherwise we would be too inflexible to be able to break through, counter-battery fire keeping enemy artillery away from ours, and so on. I frequently had to use planes and ask for tank or artillery support as the infantry player to try and break through trenches or MG positions. And to stop enemy plane rushes we needed to actually deploy AA weapons, which were just dumb infantry killers in MOWAS2 for example. - Single man infantry micro to hell (grenade meta) In MoW2 infantry is not braindead and horribly OP. - Game modes that relied on you capturing and holding arbitrary points. This game has two new modes, Frontline and Incursion, which are both super good both thematically and gameplay wise. They make for a much more solid experience of a battlefield that's going back and forward from one nation's hands to another's until the fate of the area is decided. And incursion is just better Frontline from MOWAS2. - Tank HP bars. Always has been, now made visible.
@@orange630 Coming from Rob Realism, AS2 was definitely casual for me. Still, it's a lot more realistic than this. Every single soldier matters in AS2, here you just spam them like Steel Division. There is nothing wrong with Steel Division, other than that it's not MoW.
@@sleepylion9788 I mean, MoW2 will have mod support, and we cannot really compare a very modded game (ROBZ changes a lot of stuff) to a vanilla game thats still in beta also part of the reason why I dont care so much for the "it has to be MoW" is that I dont want to see another reskin of a game getting released like CoH3 or AoE4 to be perfectly honest
Has anyone not found that the game kinda reminds much more like steel division which is a game i like.... heres the thing MOW2 has sone good coneptw like fortficayions , cammo nets , planes and useabe AA and the paratroopers (which if you played ruse also flew in and jumped out and makes for artillary spam diffcult) I actually like MOW2 for that reasons. It still no assult squad 2 but i think that was the point i mean it still has active player base for those all complaining
The medic mechanic is really clunky or bad rn and doesn't make sense but what if we had the developers or a modder that you place a medic field tent and the medics come out if you dont have a medic already and carry them back.
Yes, tendency is true. Most players that played Men of War 1/MoWaS2, expected MoWaS3 so mostly dislike game. But those who didnt play previous titles mostly likes it. Because its fast paced and engaging game. Team play orientated. It`s opens up when players get used to it. And when all 10 seasoned players on the battlefield its much different and fun. When its full 5 man party vs another full 5 man party, its another level of gameplay. Oh, and in lobby there was an option to try few different modes too. Classical combat, Capture points mode, Incrusion mode (when team A attacks, team B defends). P.S. I think old fashioned MoW1/MoWas2 players already got chronic illness from older titles. So nothing to worry!
My dicussion got brought down (deleted by developers) on the discussion page when explaining my viewpoint. It's not necessarily a bad game, but it just isn't Men Of War. If it was it's own standalone title, the reviews would probably be way better.
@@Benjamin-ng9og Well, its Men of War, core mechanics is present. There is another examples that series evolved to different gameplay. Dawn of War 1 to Dawn of War 2. Cossacks 1 to Cossacks 2 Slightly different gameplay. Yes, some innovative games of series failed. Like Heroes Might and Magic 4, but for me that wasnt much content at all from the start. So its not sets in stone that every new game of series should be copy-paste of previous.
@@alexeivasiliev7766 The problem everyone has that the core mechanic of MoW is not present. I'm not sure what playtest you played, but the core is missing. It's not a bad game at all, if it was another title/project I would easily be saying it's an alright game. DaW1 to DaW2 is vastly different, and I was disappointed in the no base building.
