I have spent 600~ hours playing this game. Was excited for more stuff. I’m so confused what giant changes have happened except having to start all over again. Started in broken railroad and walked to the airfield. Really, nothing new to me. Didn’t see any of the new animals. I don’t see any new craftable items. All I see is hours ahead in an attempt to find the “new” stuff. Oh. Wait. I DID come across what I assume is a rare rifle. It’s got fancy gold on it. But I couldn’t find ammo and died to a wolf shortly after. So, I guess I can’t say nothing. That rifle was pretty fancy. I hope your able to find more then I did in your play. So far for me I’m disappointed in this expansion. But that’s me and my experience
I've had some luck with some of the notes scattered in the buildings on the airfield, but I haven't had luck finding various locations that are in the journal. I did see glimmer fog a few times and insomnia is kicking my butt right now. I keep forgetting to check if the new tools are craftable. There is a furnace and a workbench in the basement of the main hanger.
Honestly this update didn't add much of anything worthwhile, mostly cosmetic stuff. The signal void is a boring quest, and the reward sucks. It's a long enough quest that most novice survival players won't bother, while the reward is soo little that most hardcore players won't see any benefit, because a holster might reduce your weight, but bullets will be always limited in the long run, and hardcore survivalists will eventually have to rely on fishing and bow/arrow for survival long after the ammo is gone. So it's like a quest with a reward that is useless to all types of player. Completing the quest takes more resources/time than the holster would ever give in savings. The airfield also isn't even that great of a place to survive. It's far from anything, it's large but sparse, so it's not even great for hoarding resources. There's not much there for even short term survival, let alone long term. It didn't add anything novel about surviving. Maybe at best you could say it's good for hoarding scrap metal for later, but that's not much of a benefit because you'll run out of stuff to chop up long before you run out of scrap metal anyways. About the most beneficial change was to beach combing, for long term survival.

Start a new survival character in Broken Railroad and get to the left end of the map. There is a bridge that takes you to the transition region. That will eventually take you to the hub region. From there, you can get to the 3 new maps as they become available.
WTF You mean it breaks survival mode saves?? COME ON ?? Wtf !! I spent fuckin hours, days on playing this game, uncovering in 100% in 5 regions already...
There are a few things scattered across the airfield. I did go to where one of the photos I found was taken and mapping the area from there revealed a lot of the map. There are a lot of locations not on the airfield.
tbh, I do not really like the idea of traders on GBI. Ever since the game started, we were the only living human on the isle (in SM). We're pure survivors on our own, handling the wild, the beasts and even the auroras. Now, all of a sudden, there shall be other survivors, trading stuff? That doesn't feel right. According to steam I've played this game for 1072 hours by now. I was upset when they changed the save files, cause I had to start over again (the time capsule didn't work). And now the traders... first time I'm thinking about quitting the game.
I agree with you, and I also like the odea of the traders. It would be really cool if they kept adding and supporting this kind of stuff, and then allow us to turn their existence on and off as we wish when making a new game.
