We added a new difficulty mode after this video which is the STORY mode. We scaled down the damage and increased the resource efficiency so you can meet more aliens and follow there stories without falling apart so fast. We will continue to make updates. Here are some notes about that update: facebook.com/notes/the-long-journey-home/iasa-responds-to-mission-criticism-with-new-story-mode/1033286360134872/
Found your channel posted in a review on Steam. You do a great job breaking down the game that's not putting it down. I really enjoyed your style! Subscribed and liked!
Thank you kind sir! I'm a big believer in how you say something is as important as what you say so when I can see the devs trying to do what they think was best, I like to give my assessment as a form of positive criticism instead of it sounding more ranty, I appreciate your support and hope you continue to stick around :)
Almost forgot to place this. So just some background for anyone who's here. I missed out on uploads the past week because of illness. You should still be able to hear the last bits of some cough and flu in certain sections of the video. There will still be another video, hopefully one more after that as well, for the coming week so thanks to everyone who's stuck around :) That said, I used the downtime to tweak some of the animations that my friend Kaine made for the channel. The transitions between segments is mostly all him, I just tweaked the timing a little here and there. Please do check out his channel and see if it's something you might enjoy. The link is in the description. But also, please reply here for any thoughts on the animation as well as the narration in this video. It's actually a little faster than I'm used to giving commentary and I wanted to see if it was more engaging for you guys. Do let me know!. Thanks
Great review, man! I watched like 10 other reviews of this game out there and I still did not know how what the game is about after that. Only your review does stuff correctly. I also appreciate that despite getting a free copy off the game you're not oversugaring it (I hope) :)
I was given a review copy as well and sadly I think the only decent aspect is its soundtrack. The core resource management part does not hold up and the control is wonky at its best -- which makes me think the lack of manual control in Out There is a deliberate choice to prevent players being distracted. The narrative is not impressive -- considering Daedalic is known for high quality adventure games. Thanks for your review!
My pleasure sir! Yeah I was kinda let down if i'm being honest. My last daedelic game was Shadow Tactics Blades of the Shogun which was the complete opposite of this game in terms of enjoyment. I thought the controls were decent, kinda what you'd expect from balancing thrusters and, to be frank, it's one of the only few challenges you'd get in the game.
I believe that most of this review shows the view of the solar system but I didn't manage to show how you actually have to pay a fee to travel between galaxies. Admittedly, I may have used the terms interchangeably by mistake so sorry about that.
Thanks. You did a great job of reviewing the game. I'm glad I saw your video before buying it since the reality clearly doesn't live up to the massive hype around this game.
Thanks for the kind words. I had no idea that this game was getting massive hype but is that because it's from Daedelic you think? or is it because it's a genre that tends to be popular
I appreciate the support and hope you won't be put off from the older visuals :) This is the first review where I use the newer animations by my friend.
Its not the visuals but the honest, straight forward, pro and con review of the game. I wasn't going to buy this game but probably will now because of your review. I agree with DOCS Monkey below.
no not at all, the transitions make the review alot more structured and make the change of scenes more streamlined than just a hard cut, its a good improvement
Thank you and I'm sorry too. I do need to work on simplifying some sentences because sometimes I use overly complex words and adjectives unnecessarily. Also doesn't help that I was at the tail end of a cold when recording. Hope you still managed to find value here though :)
