The parade is a digital art masterpiece. The inquisitor's dialogue is typical of an intern scriptwriter at a porn studio.

The cheers at 5:02 litteraly make me shiver. As fascistic as the empire can be the display of raw martial might holy terra can flex just by marching down the city is beyond epic.

Man, the pan over Holy Terra gave me chills.

Those space marines and dreadnoughts look badass as fuck walking. They look heavy but with ample strength to shift it. Imagine what they look like running. More importantly, what they look like running at something...

The dreadnoughts marching, the sheer weight and sound of their steps in sync to the beat of the music is amazing.

This whole scene could be cannon. This parade could be part of the Triumph Guilliman held when he returned to Terra and announced the Indomitus Crusade. The Inquisition was also very active at the time as a power struggle was brewing from Guilliman’s return.

I'm genuinely staggered by the quality. This is exactly how I imagined the 40k universe; detailed, grimey, grotesque and beautiful. How the hell are we supposed to wait for the complete movie after showing us this?!

As expected, the quality of this is ASTOUNDING. Just imagine what Erasmus and his team could do provided they got a budget and a full license by GW.

When a fanmade animation is better than a million dollar budget series.

Just got word the person who created and directed this is now making a Gundam Show. Came back to this video that started my love for you. Good luck on that project!!

Why GW hasn't thrown their full support behind this, endorsed it in every way possible, given these guys the official blessing, and offered to promote the fuck out of it and split the money they could make from it is beyond me. The guys making this film are the absolute pinnacle of fan-fiction dedication. If I won the lottery, I'd write these folks a cheque to fund this project simply because awesomeness on this level deserves to be recognized in a big way.

All those Space Marines must be thinking in their minds "Heresy grows from Idleness" while they march pointlessly for a parade when they could be doing the Emperor's work.

That such a small team created this speaks volumes about their talent. Given that it was never continued I’m sure that all of the team has moved on. I hope they are all enjoying amazing success now and for the rest of their lives.

I've been a warhammer 40k fan since before DOW1 came out on pc, but watching this felt like I was seeing the 40k universe for the first real time. The marching scene made the hair on my arms stand up lol

when it comes to Warhammer 40k, fanmade creations tend to be of the highest quality. you can really tell how much love they put into things.

I literally just noticed, at around 5:21, when the Lord Inquisitor gets the Message from Marcus, there's a little 'Quote of the Day' at the top left. Here it reads, "AN EMPTY MIND IS A LOYAL MIND!!!"

The lip sync of the characters was rather iffy, but those shots of those imperial fists and the dreadnoughts during the parade more than made up for it.

Mr Cavill, if you see this, you got to make this flick's music the intro song of your 40k series.

Man do I ever wish this project had been completed. Erasmus, even if it's not fully polished, I'd be very interested to see what short story you had to tell.

How annoyed do you think the Dreadnoughts are? Venerated space marines, held at the brink of death yet beyond that which you could call life, entombed in sarcophagi mounted upon holy war machines to deliver justice to the enemies of mankind in return for the right to slumber in painless sleep when not called upon....then they're forced to get up for an inquisitor's parade.

I almost fainted when I saw the Imperial fists marching, and my heart stopped at the site of the dreadnoughts following. My god I have so much faith in you to make this thing great

As much as I adore this, it just stands as proof that we, the 40k fanbase cant have nice things.

IMO, a better line at 7:15 would be: "Mercy Inquisitor! Grant me mercy!" "You live a life outside of the Emperor's light, heretic. Death *IS* mercy." That being said, DAYUM this looks good.

How could you possibly thumbs down this masterpiece?

imagine a CD projekt red style RPG where you play as a fresh inquisitor building his war band and through use and abuse of politics and all the resources he has climbing the ranks. You could have the option of going radical or orthodox as a inquisitor where each choise affects the world in a different way... if only

I swear, my uncle shits on this video because it never got more than this. He quote- "the animator was stupid to think he could ever make anything more for this and was too in over his head." Holy fuck. This was beautiful. Everything from the procession to the inquisitorial reunite. I love that there's finally something fleshing out what goes on around the wars of 40k - we've had books but never a movie or clip of it. "Space Marines" was average - this looks better in every single damn way.

Honestly, if you’d have told me that this was a cutscene from like a AAA video game from like 2014, I wouldn’t have been surprised. Which, for just a dude with a computer, is pretty dang good.

Goodness they absolutely killed it on the architecture, I was always curious about the how architecture would be in the 40K universe but there wasn't much fanart regarding it, but this vid really gave a good picture of how the architecture of the warhammer universe is, hope we can see the buildings of all the other factions in the future! I'd love to see how chaos cities look like!

All W40K fans are equal but some are more equal than others. In the end, it came out with The Lord Inquisitor ! Masterpiece work !

The fact that this was made four years ago makes it all the more amazing.

Lets take a few moments to appreciate the quality of this intro scene. There are several strong contrasts that immediately paint a powerful picture of the Warhammer world. The opening parade sequence shows how the throne world of the human empire is engulfed in a highly religious, militarized and oppressive society. The scene of marching soldiers and warmachnies, supported by the clergy is direct, aggressive and overbearing. The camera then shifts away from the dark rural districts and the sound of military march. There are clear skies and the breaking dawn. Soothing images of sacral architecture bathed in sunlight, as the music becomes a relaxing but fitting gregorian chant. Finally, inbetween all of this, we see glimpses of the interior of a house of a Terra nobleman. His dwelling is filled with all other manner of luxury, hand-crafted decorations, portraits, antique furniture. A position of privilege and decadence in stark contrast to the harshness and misery of the outside world. Without using a single word, the author present a direct and strong vision of the Warhammer world. And all this is just a setup for the main character of this trailer, the Inquisitor. His callous cynicism and blatant sadism - as extraordinary as they are - fit perfectly into the hypocritical and oppressive society of the Imperium. All in all, a well connected, well presented series of powerful images. My only (minor) critique would be the character animations that seem a little stiff. Apart from that, the movie looks better than most sci-fi stuff coming from hollywood, I can't to see it finished.

I hate to say anything negative because I want a great 40K film as much as anyone, but am I the only one that thinks the inquisitor sort of comes off as a snot nosed brat? I need the inquisitor to be a rugged, scarred up veteran that's been exposed to the horrors of the warp. Not some fussy sarcastic kid with a nasally voice ... otherwise it's fantastic work..

I am so deeply saddened this got abandoned. Would have been fantastic finished.

Just seeing those imperial fists and dreadnoughts walk made me so incredibly happy. The person that animated this REALLY knows how to put weight and OOMPH to a step. Exactly what you need for a space marine, or a hulking dreadnought. Sound design, animation, style and general quality of models/texture was excellent. Lip sync, however, appears to be a bit off, sadly. But other than that, fantastic.

If ANYONE deserve the right to make a 40k movie.. its not Michael Bay or anyone else No, its Erasmus Brosdau and No one else (well, maybe the team behind ASTARTES ) G-dubs done these boys dirty, and now its time for a redemption of their glorious work No one else can pull this and still give glory to the Lore and background (least not w/o a ardeous and long study.. these guys already know whats up.. And they know the way.. Lets DEMAND these fellas take the lead and give us our 40k movie

I used to like lore in games like Warcraft/Starcraft, Elder Scrolls, etc. Then I found out about Warhammer 40k and now I'm like fuck that old lore. Warhammer 40k is so bad ass. So much to read. So many Space Marine Chapters, etc. For me its almost like lore overload. This movie is going to be so fucking bad ass. I wish you had higher budget and manpower.
