For the hobbit comparisons, you should do a lot of Erebor scenes, we haven't seen anything from the prologue or much of other Desolation Treasure hall scenes. I'm so curious to the brightened dark halls under the mountain :)
This is so hit and miss. They should release a version without digital noise reduction and edge sharpening as the Blu-ray looks better in so many scenes.
@@cavalierdecoupe yeah you've already stated several times in different comments in this video how much you love DNR and hate grain. You made that clear the first time, no need to insist, buddy.
I have this and the transfer is so good, but unfortunately suffers the most because there are more effects shots which look really dated now, most notably 'You bow to no one'. Took me out of the movie for the very first time. And the green army now looks like something out of Ghostbusters. Still my favourite film of the 21st century so far tho.
This is a digital restoration. Key word digital. Nothing filmic about it at all and now the visual Fx look worse and stand out like a sore thumb. Makes these films feel aged rather than timeless. Poor job whomever restored this.
The transfers are good, but they're not great either. Sure it suffers through a heavy amount of DNR and Edge Enhancement, but it also has a rocking Dolby Atmos track. I'd like to know what is seriously wrong with a movie shot on film and that has film grain? I personally love seeing the grain
Personnaly, i have a 4k TV with HDR and the long version blu ray and the render is as good as the new 4k edition. Personnellement j'ai une TV 4K avec HDR et la version longue blu ray et le rendu est aussi bien que la nouvelle édition 4K.
Wow, what a TERRIBLE release! Much worse than the blu-rays! Lots of hideous DNR all over the image, scrubbing off any fine detail and making everything look waxy smooth and super fake. This leads to all the CGI looking ten times more fake and don’t even get me started on the new ugly color timings. How could PJ ever let this be released to the public?? Equals to taking a huge dump on his original vision and the excellent visual style it carried.
