If Amazon were to adapt the Silmarillion, Eru would create Ea and Arda on Monday, Melkor would destroy the Valinorien Trees on Tuesday, the Edain would make it to Beleriand Wednesday, Gondolin would be destroyed Thursday, and the Valar would send help and cast out Morgoth Friday. Amazon has NO concept of buildups, intricacies and events slowly happening over time. We have TWO Durins at the same time. We have Pharazon and Celebrimbor at the same time. We have no Celeborn, Celebrian (Elrond's wife mind you) or Anarion. Yet we're giving the Harfoots walking around tons of screentime in this series. I don't understand wtf is going on lol

SO GLAD you discovered Charlie. He’s brilliant, and his voice impressions of LotR, GoT and Star Wars characters are insanely good. His writing is also top notch. Honestly, he’s more entertaining than all three of these franchises at present. I’m waiting for the bachelor flat crossover featuring Box ‘o Rocks Boromir, Headless Ned, Chip Fiend Qui Gon, Baby Elrond, Moth Whisperer Gandalf and Bacta Tank Bong Water Stoner Anakin. Obi Won Kenobi-It-All can sit on the curb in his bathrobe with Barely Legolas and kick kyber crystals.

There's a kind of entropy that works in genre movies and TV: people try to imitate something and they're so focused on the surface glitter that they fail to bring competence to the project. It's a particularly big risk in fantasy. Think of _Conan the Barbarian_ vs _Deathstalker_ for example. A show like RoP could be great fun if it were a low-budget sword and sorcery show that didn't take itself so seriously.

Season 1 should have started with Annatar and no Halbrand (and no harfoots) and it would have been at least decent in spite of the show runners. After watching this episode, my wife said “wow, you really hate this show, huh?” And I replied “that was the best episode so far.”

Ep 5 was in line with Ep 1-3...great Ep, dark and atmosspheric!

Plot holes; 1. One dawrf kingdom has problems with finding light, instead of going to other dwarves for help they runs to eleves😂 2. Only khaz dum has problems why would Celebrimbor make 7 rings? 3. When they realize the 7 rings are corrupted because of deceiet, the solution is to make 9 more? 4. Also Celebrimor says he won't make the 9 rings and Sauron says he will. Celebrimor doesnt stop him he just starts crying at the end of the episode. 5. Then the high king what does he mean the eleves can't fight both ada and Sauron. Ada's amry has like 200 orcs whose only victory is against a small viallage. Sauron has no army??? Too many things don't make sense

I find Sauron the most interesting (just because everyone is so uninteresting) to watch in the show. I know they've nerfed him but I think the actor could be very good if he had something to work with. I don't mind them squeezing and messing with the timeline if it was interesting. Also the dwarfs breaking the mountain for the light was so dumb, they broke through like one foot of mountain 😂 is the mountain a foot thick and then just totally hollow like a kinder egg 😂 Also I really thought when the elve went into the shadow realm she would have seen Sauron in his real form and it could have made a grest scene

Prime started a rumour before the first season that it would like Game of Thrown but it is a mild PG show.

Ooooph. Well done for making it to episode 5, I've struggled past the beginning of episode 4. And yeah, that channel is hilarious.

I agree with opinions here and with all the holes in the plot BUT enjoying the show for what it's worth. Looking at it not as Tolkien's world but an interpretation of it by Amazon. Tolkien's universe will be interpreted and reinterpreted ad nauseam for eons to come, so take each for what they're worth. Pretty sure the Lord of the Rings will be remade at some point in the next decade and Peter Jackson's fans will come out with pitchforks.

The films weren’t perfect. The army of the dead is way too OP. Gimli is a bit too silly. Sam isn’t forced to use the ring. I still love them because they have heart and they were made with heart, reverence and literacy

Charlie Hopkinson is great - very dry humor, love Baby Elrond. Even his disclaimer is funny. I appreciated fewer colors of barf in the blender this week, no Rhun, stupid wizards and not-Hobbits, and that ridiculous Inceldur plot which cannot possibly be interesting bc he survives. Numenor is dumb. The rest is both rushed and out of order.

The problem with this series is not the lore, or the nitpicking. It's the mellodrama. Durin puts on a ring and suddenly Disa hears a Balrog. Durin Jr tells Durin Sr. to put on a ring, and then he immediately becomes greedy. People are always talking text, not subtext. Don't put on the ring. Put on the ring, we need it. Durin Sr. tells Durin Jr that they forgave each other and he needs him. So it's just tedious.

21:22 the trouble is that the way Fantasy portrays fantasy races is… hella racist. I can almost appreciate attempts to deviate from this, or add complexity and ‘nature vs nurture’ arguments. BUT THAT’S NOT TOLKIEN. Airbrushing the orcs to be nuanced and sympathetic is inherently anti-Tolkien. Anyways, love you for watching these for us and breaking it down.

This episode reminds me of The Acolyte, what if you simple go with the lore and from there you make your story flow? Is it not a better and logical way to win an audience and convince them to follow you on this new path? Why do you destroy Everything to try to make a story that is noticeably inferior than the original one? We will never know the complete story behind this waste of money, time and ideas!!

I'm watching it and in 5 episodes very little has happened! looks great but Jesus they need to do something. I know the bloody story like everyone else so they need to entertain us while we watch, BUT THEY ARENT. The writing is 4/10 with some parts being 1/10 like orc dads caring about their children, those fuckers are more like rodents or insects in that regard then humans.

Her antics are puerile nothing else, that scene was pathetic, cliched to the hilt and something I expect from an Adam Sandler movie. The fact the chamber seemed to be undiscovered could be believable - due to the earthquake it had shifted - but that would mean the Dwarves are complete idiots and morons (although in this show that is believable) who after a crack appears in their wall due to an earthquake fail to explore and either block or capitalise on the potential new areas it brings them. I think the worst part of the show (I know i know competition) is the utter fail to make the time frames accurate - everything that should have happened over hundreds of years is happening at once, the time it takes to travel anywhere or people teleporting because they need to be at X etc... just doesn't work - the time frames are so out of wack everything else doesn't sit right at all.

If WB and New Line, which I think they will do another Lord of the Rings, they can do that too. Geez, people complaining at other peoples interpretation, but continue to watch is hilarious. It just ends up making you look super biased because it’s not made by Peter Jackson. This is a new look, and it’s a hit with other fans, and new fans. Where there’s no sex in it and it’s all about a family series. That’s why I like it. Basic story on Good vs Evil fantasy fiction series. And I’m just glad that there’s a Middle Earth again. It’s like James Bond, so many interpretations, and each one has its own identity. You should see it that way, and if you’re not into it, or can’t, quit watching. 😂 it’s making you look frustrated and angry. 🤣
