Azur Lane - has an anime Me: I don’t know ship girls don’t really sound like my thing Azur lane - has a ship named after my hometown Me: ... never mind
It's always the fucking nationalism lmao. Sadly I ain't a patriot for my country due to its repetition in history lessons which only contains ones from 1300s to 1800s. Even though important events happened around the 1900s
Not when humanity takes it to the stars except in the 2530s-2550s (specifically 2531-2553) we aren't just fighting each other we are also fighting an alliance of various alien races know as the covenant and then you basically have to fight a war between the UNSC (you) the Covenant (the somewhat villains) the Flood (the real villains) the Banished (a brute led mercenary group founded and led by Atriox) and the Created (Cortana and her Prometheans) UNSC vs Covenant vs Flood: Halo ce, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo Wars 1 UNSC vs Covenant: Halo Reach, Halo 3 ODST UNSC vs Covenant vs Prometheans: Halo 4 UNSC/Swords of Sanghelios vs Covenant vs Prometheans: Halo 5 UNSC vs Banished vs Flood: Halo Wars 2: Awakening the Nightmare UNSC vs Banished: Halo Wars 2, Halo Wars 2: OPERATION Spearbreaker, Halo Infinite
Think of Sirens as sort of a mix of Eldar/Aeldari with their ancient technology and their contempt for primitive or inferior races, and Orks being made solely fer fightin' an' winnin' like dere's no tomorra!
A note for anyone who starts playing and finds some of the yandere ship girls, they are that way because some of them don’t have anyone else in their class, or a sister ship was sunk in war while they made it back to port
And also their personalties come from their historical stories, such as Akagi who failed in Midway and wants to impress her commander From what I told ofc
My favorite ship is probably Avrora. After all, she’s looks damn fine, and we can drink when combats not happening. Also, this series is almost as weird as Fate.
I may be walking in your footsteps, I was pretty decent when it came to playing FGO but ever since I picked it up, especially during that recent french rerun event where Jeanne is basically a give away, I haven't stopped finding more and more info on this game and have probably spent too much already considering I haven't even been playing for a while month, still got a week I think to go on the monthly/daily login rewards
There actually is quite a bit of lore and story happening throughout the various events of the mobile game. It just takes some time to stitch them together as there's no straight timeline aside from certain instances when the girls refer to things that happened in previous events. But the anime is hard considered a very lackluster production at times. There are theories that this is a prelude to when us ans the Commanders come into the story, while others say it;s just an alternate timeline.
14:35 small correction there. At first Kaga was a battleship of the Tosa Class but was converted into the aircraft carrier form we see in the anime. And since Tosa Kaga skills in game have as skill image the "I reject my Humanity Jojo" and the Shadow DIO pose, you can say that Kaga turned into KAGA
Man, it's rare to see an anime where the Japanese are the antagonists. I'm definitely going to check out the show, though I can't really play the mobile game because of the gatcha
@@dutchthespitfire3204 too weak armor? the japanese always had trouble sinking all the sister taking multiple torps and air strike. Yorktown (the first) Took heavy damage at coral sea. Was there again for midway, declare sunk twice in that battle before she finally was put down by a submarine while being tow back to hawaii. Hornet was also hard to kill and you already know about Enterprise earning the name grey ghost.
Just so any females thinking about picking this game up, the Nazis refer to ships like the Bismarck as "he" instead of the normal "she," so there's a lore opportunity for ship guys if the developers wanted to go down that route. The way I heard it on the history channel was that they thought the brutality of battle was not fitting for anything that is referred to as female, so ships like Bismarck and Terpitz received male pronouns.
I have seen people in the Azur Lane chat window talking about how some of the Iron Blood are 'futas'.. which no offence to them... really grosses me out. I can somewhat see now why they would concoct something so ridiculous.
Well if the comander was in the anime there would be be a scene similar to this "Enty i swear that marrying you and probably 10+ other ships is necessary to defeating the sirens!"
The anime was incredibly light on actual lore, since it was basically rehashing the Amagi event and just having Akagi have a pretty low-tier, VERY DELAYED meltdown over it. With the latest AL event, Microlayer Medley, we're beginning to see the shape of something real actually happening, such as the Northern Parliament's involvement, the commander's true role in everything, and what actually transpired to create Code G, Ember, and all that. Helena best girl btw
Now all you have to do is re-watch it after finishing the Crimson Echoes re-run, because the anime is Crimson Echoes' sequel and the mobile games' prequel.
as a world of warship, FGO, and many more gacha games. I am particularly fond of Karlrushe, but my my main ship girls are Portland, Takao, Enty, Prinz Eugen and roon. The only one that I am worried about is how many times that I find ark royal in jail.
Sandy nambah one! Also the game lore is literally the events. If you can connect it piece by piece you’d understand the deep meaning of it. It’s a complicated lore coz there’s three timeline that’s introduced to us in the game. The original timeline(creation of the kansen and siren), the unique timeline, and the diverge timeline from the unique timeline (our current timeline/humanity’s hope).
The lore is one of the reasons why I love some of the games and sometimes I can theorize based on it's information. Azur lane may have some lore but there are questions that left me wonder. The anime was some of a disappointment to me because of several reasons. One of which is the Commander is left out (even not one reference of him even I still hope he appears even a brief appearance at the end of the anime. But Bisko is fine). But there are some good parts of the anime which I like tho fan service was only half of it. One of the questions which I ask about the lore is what is the story of the Commander before he come to base. Fujimaru Ritsuka from FGO did explained of how he was chosen as the master and still explained enough of his/her past which is a good thing the devs did and there are some theories what he is and what is his role in his story. One I heard is he's some kind of Beast but don't know what. I heard it's because how Fou usually gets close to him normally if we know Fou's real identity. The story of the Commander is what I've wondered. What was he before he is now? Why did Humanity usually the Government chose him? How come the Mental cubes only reacted to him? Those are the questions I wanted to be answered. The only info about him that I got is from the AL crosswave game where there are infos about the Ship girls with a bit info about the Commander. If I remember it correctly, he's part of an organization or a member of it that was founded to take down the Sirens. The Anti-Sirens Independent Military Organization. There are quite a few questions of what I have wandered for now but what do you think DaiKun? Oh my favorite is Enterprise(but how they handled her was quite a shame) but I still have others including Belfast, Kaga, and Prinz Eugen. If we include others that are not from the anime then it's FDG because of how mysterious and kinda demonic she seems but at the same time, mature and a motherly figure to us Commanders.
The commander is left out because the anime is set right after Crimson Echoes. The dialogue exchanged between Eugen/Bismarck takes place right before the mobile game's Prologue where they launch a surprise attack on AzurLane. That's also why majority of the anime revolves around IJN. Especially Kaga/Akagi. The Commander's story hasn't begun yet.
There are also a lot character tropes in this series. Enterprise is the cold and stoic warrior, akagi is a crazy yandere, kaga is the strong hot head, laffey is the narcoleptic sleepy head.
@@ThunderGreyKnight @Red Hood She's... Ambitious and determined all right. Enough so that she'll charge at "Grey Ghosto!" or Kaga without much thought, but despite being regarded as relatively new and weak, she's strong enough to contend with these superior opponents and even pull off unlikely victories some of the time. I would describe Kaga as the "loyal to a fault right hand" of Akagi. She's ruthless on the battlefield but kind to the Sakura Empire children, and the only time she betrays Akagi at all is after Zuikaku (literally) knocks some sense into her head.
I really liked the anime. Lore has never been a big thing for me when it comes to Mobile Games. It is a waifu game after all. Anyways to my opinion about the anime. I really wish the German/Ironblood Faction got more of a spotlight or at least an episode. Like come on, they are one of the four main faction in the game. And having the Sakura Empire solo everything doesn't seem right. Still, nice job on researching the general lore of the anime Dai Kun. Nice job. Appreciate the effort.
The game lore is literally like an ice berg. The huge chunk of it is far deep underwater 😆. Game lore is far complicated and very vague to make any conclusions.
Season 1 is set within and around the Pond of Peace (Pacific Ocean) where the Cherries have the dominance and the quantity of warship girls to irritate the Blue bloc. The few Jerries (champions Prinz Eugen and Z23 / Nimi) offer advice for their Red bloc kin there and are naturally more active on the North Atlantic waters... ooh and thick German accents inbound. You will get my figures of speech soon enough.
Just popping in to remind you that a follow up would be fantastic, I use this video as a way to help newer players but after our recent event where we finally reach a truly united Azur lane amongst all banners against the sirens, learn the sirens origins, and learn what they are there's so much you could use to put into another video and then I'd have to share 2 of your videos with newbies lol
In a game like this, I don't have just one favorite ship. So instead I'll pick the ones that I most adore. Laffey= Because she was my first. I love her adorable personally, I want to help her with her drinking problem. XD Prinz Engen= SOOOO AFFECTIONATELY THIRSTY. o^.^o *Oathed* North Carolina= She has been my first SR and with me as my mainline flagship throughout the game until I've collected more ship girls to experiment with. I see her as the loving girl-next-door friend that's been there for you from the beginning that you were too dumb to notice until you stop the look back at your past relationships. ^_^; I keep asking for new skins for her as I feel I want to reward her (though symbolically) with something as a thankyou. ^^' (I'm not going to too deep into this am I?) Now for one of my pet peeves about certain gamers: If you idiot stops skipping the event dialogs and actually read it You would know what the hell is going on. Personally, I despise players that just skip story just only play the combat. You are longer a gamer, you just became Drone player to be taken advantage of by the Triple-A industry. Funny how dark and insidious tones in video games can manifest into the real world. I'm sure there are lessons to be learned here and things to be questioned that haven't been thought of. When in school I was asked a lot of story points that could have just watched a 30-second cut scene to know it. Mostly from freaking HALO of all games. It got to the point I started to tell to play the game again and watched the damn cutscenes and read the dialogs. Because I won't give them any answers from that point on. Now the light at the other end of the tunnel: Thankfully I do understand some gamers do play the game and watch and read everything but still haven't grasp or go lost. Even I fell victim to this and that why I like RU-vidrs that take their time and energy to lay everything out to make things easier to grasp or to theorize, debate, and clarify meanings. I think I if didn't get so fed-up with braindead idoits I would have started a youtube career that explains the lore of video games from retro to now.
Everyone always seems to be bashing Azur Lane for it's story - too complicated, nonexistent, partly existent (with a lot of multiverses)... Being a huge Azur Lane fan and fan of your videos highlighting the travels across the various anime universes, this lore video came as a very pleasant surprise for me! The story in each episode might have been a bit cliche, but put together as a whole, I think it tells quite the lesson! I'll have to rewatch it once the bluray finishes releasing - the quality looks so much better. Thanks OtakuDaiKun! Now... I've got to grind West Virginia...
Ill admit im not into mobile games, and the only Azure Lane i have played is the recent released Crosswave game, never the less,i LOVE the designs of these shipgirls,my favorite,Belfast,im a maid lover so she inmidietly got caugth my attention
The biggest flaws of the anime is that no-one dies during the fight scenes or actually gets injured. It removes all tensions. Plus, 12 episodes is too short for game of that scale is so many characters to give them development. And Bismarck. They put her in the opening only to give a freakin' CAMEO at the end of episode 12. You gotta be shittin' me! Still, it was a fun ride.
Season 1. Season 2, when Bismarck and her perceived nemesis King George V (KG5) will make the theatre on the northern half of the Pond entertaining. It's not cool of you to be overwhelmed by all maritime events and incidents going on, so that you could rant about the plot points being all over the place. Purchase those Blu-ray Disks, then disinfect!
So much information about the META'S and Sirens is revealed in Operation Siren and in Mirror Involution. So much LORE!!! It gets confusing sometimes but i love learning more. Thanks for the explanation on the anime i really appreciate your efforts.
Honestly, with the Sirens Mary Sue powers and the stupidity of humans. If Enterprise hadn't kicked their asses in that moment in time, it surely would have ended quickly again.
Me before playing azur lane: Ok thats is too lewd Me after i wanted to join the navy: I love it Plus: Enterprise is my favorite along with Bismarck Also i never knew the lore with the sirens was that deep man....
Awesome video! :D If you are currently playing the Fallen Wings event in War Archives, you definitely need to take a peek at this video, because the first 8:00 explains it pretty damn well tbh. The only part I can see wrong with it [I am by no means a lore expert and what I have to say doesn't effect the video in any way because it's really good] is 11:03 with the decommissioning of Yorktown. Right at the ending of Episode 12, she is no longer bed ridden and is seen standing only to later sink towards the beginning of the Shikikan [you] era with the line **"Why does everyone look so down? We've just claimed a glorious victory"**. I believe the anime is a prequel to the mobile game's Prologue which is where the Commander's timeline really starts, and proof of this is the very end of Episode 12 where dialogue is exchanged between Bismarck/Eugen who launch a surprise attack on Azur Lane shortly after. Heaps of people will disagree with me I reckon, but this theory I have concocted explains why there is no Shikikan in the anime.
Omitting Shikikan in anime adaptation looks like a mistake, since the "unknowns" (the sirens and G/Ash) seem to have an interest in the player (example can be found in the northern overture event or microlayer medley iirc).
First the epic fate vids, now azur lane, well done my very good friend RU-vidr, keep up the epic uploads, I will agree zuikaku is great, but my favorite has to be Warspite
Ever since watching Godzilla Minus One (I don't know if you've seen the movie or not) all I ever think about is Godzilla and Takao getting into a fight, and then Takao getting her ass beaten by the giant lizard.
It’s awesome how they use it he branch universe theory of marvel comics. While I’m the main universe azur lane universe, Enterprise doesn’t lose all her friends, but dark enterprise still exists.
Is it possible to get a part 2 on this lore video if u were in the 50 patreon subscription as someone who plays azur lane mobile and watched the anime this video did a very good job of hyping the game up and anime i truly enjoyed it and would love to see more of this
I love this anime. But as a player of the game. Which the anime is actually history in the game. As also a fan of japanese mythology. I think shipgirls are actually tsukumogami. Which is either are spirits that posess objects and animate them. Or objects that gain sentience through spiritual contact with a person that uses them. That is they develop a spirit. My favorites are Fusuo, Hiei, chen hai new jersey and many others. I love them all.
OtakuDaiKun she is to overly edgy compared to her game version. Read her game lines and you can see a huge difference. In the game even after yorktowns death, shes still a caring individual, while in the the show Yorktown isn’t even dead yet and she’s already going full edgelord. I get that the show is a timeline without the commander but it just doesn’t suit her imo
Something that isn't mentioned in this (because you stuck to anime only), is that in game we've found out that the Sirens aren't even the true antagonists. The Sirens are doing all these simulations of different possibilities and trying to improve themselves because they are fighting something even much worse. In game, we haven't even met those antagonists yet.
What I've wondered is what Enemy could they have the sirens even feared? We never get a hint of who or what is that threat. We are still in the Loki stage of our story. But the Thanos stage must be something we must prepared.
anime code g talking to Enterprise in a dream g- fighting is pointless it all stays the same E- no your wrong Game code G talking to Enterprise in a dream/illusion G- want to talk? E- no, I have verry important things to do G- Understandable, wake up
Technically Enterprise Alter is actually enterprise after the battle of midway Something to point this out is the deck paint Enterprise had the EN on her flight deck during 1941 She was modernized in 1943 after the battle of midway which saw many changes in her After that she pretty much destroyed most of the Japanese navy
yoo.. this Whole Story sure feels like Fate/Stay Night Emiya Shirou AND Phantasy Star Online 2 "Us" players(or Ash in anime) with their counterparts(EMIYA for Shirou and Dark Falz Persona for Ash)
Heres the thing, Arknights and Azur Lane are two series ive been dying to get into for months but never had the chance, probably because of my Addiction with Fate Grand Order and Attack On Titan which only lasted for like a couple months. But the main reason is because i didn't know where to start, because before i even think about getting into a series. Im one of those guys who goes to pixiv and looks at and downloads whatever fan art i could find, then i download all the music including the vocal songs except for the drama albums which i hate (Why do they even make those?), then if im satisfied i watch the anime and play the game. I did the same thing with Kancolle, and the reason why i do this is because since i have autism and im also a college student taking remedial classes. So if your like me who wakes up sometimes in your mind saying "Man ive been watching so many episodes on Attack On Titan why wont i watch Azur Lane" then you remember that you have to turn in an assignment today. Then you forget what you were about to do, these type things i dont remember them unless im looking at fan art at pixiv and stumble upon a Azur Lane artwork, or if your like me who downloads anime music on different websites and stumbles upon a new or old album of Azur Lane or Arknights, or if the thing you forget comes back in like a couple weeks. Most of the the time this stuff happens when i remember something i forgot to do, even if i dont have work to do or anything to do this happens. Anyway thanks for the video and i highly suggest you guys to check out Azur Lane and Arknights, Arknights is possibly my favorite, my favorite character for Arknights up to this point is Texas and Shaw the Firefighter Squirrel, for Azur lane it has to be Sheffield, Belfast, Illustrious, Ayanami, Shiranui, Takao, Nagato, Akashi, Chang Chun, Shimakaze, Mutsuki and Kisaragi, Sirius, Le Malin, Tashkent, Chao Ho and Ying Swei, and thats it. Now let me tell you one more thing OtakuDaiKun before i finish this comment, screw characters like Enterprise. Im starting to think the only reason why most people like Azur Lane is because of the big boobies, well guess what im not weirdo and i only like characters over design. For example i was never a fan of Levi from AOT, everyone likes him because hes so hot but again im not one of those weirdos who like characters or people because are they are hot or they have a huge body or weird shit like that. Thats the same thing with Fate Grand Order, i never liked Shirou Emiya the Archer version, i hate Gilgamesh and i dont care if he does that sword thing. Im not going to point out character's like Heracles because we are talking about character's that most people like due to their body or their appearance that doesn't look appealing. Anyway thats it, thanks for the video Otaku and i hope you are able to understand my opinions.
I have a question, I know it’s not an anime, but would you consider talking about the lore of the mobile game Girls Frontline? There’s a manga of it too.
I really didn't like this entry in the Ship Girl genre, but it is a step better than the Kancolle Anime. But not as good as Arpeggio of Blue Steel and High School Fleet though. Here is my rating for them... 1. Arpeggio of Blue Steel 2. High School Fleet 3. Azur Lane 4. Kantai Collection And I have tried the game, but I didn't think it was to my taste. The Ship Girls were sluggish and at the worst of time respond horribly to your controls. I applaud the game for somewhat of a historically accurate setup, but it is just overshadowed by the sluggish and sometimes unresponsive controls, the cool down time on some of the girls, and the fact that you don't have enough control over the Battleships and Carriers. But hey, I respect the game for what it's done, I just find it the third best entry into the Ship Girl genre. And that's me being nice to it.
Best Sakura Empire girl(and best girl): Amagi Best Iron Blood girl: Bismarck Best Royal Navy girl: Belfast Best Eagle Union girl: Cleveland(Enterprise is also a good pick) Best Sardegna Empire girl: Littorio Best Iris Libre+Vichya Dominion girl: Saint Louis Best Northern Parliament girl: Chapayev Ships I married: Takao, Enterprise, Kaga,Akagi,Amagi,Shoukaku and Kawakaze.
"Azur Lane takes place in a world where anthropomorphized warships fight against each other" But why tho? Just seems odd to me that people want to lewd literal battleships from WWII. I know there's rule 34 but still; battleships.... At least Enterprise is still as badass as the ship she represents
@@michaeldaniels642 or that Taiwanese guy who did his own maritime ships musume in early 2010s and provided Kadokawa inspiration for the (isolationist) KanColle, when Strike Witches ain't enough.
I'm surprise you haven't didn't done a lore video on the mobile game of Azur Lane because there's a lot lore you can dig out in the game than the anime
I dearly love this game but that anime was a... uh...... Consider the first Azur Lane anime a wacky fanfiction where someone just went to town with their ideas like- "YEAH! Welp, If I FORgot IT tHen PrObs NOt ImporTant..... " Yostar after everything: uh... ok... where's the Admiral? Someone asks: whats the plot? Writers: "HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH-(4 hours later)-AHAHA PLOT!?!?!"
Akagi, Belfast, and Bismarck are my favorite shipgirls. Akagi, she was my first SR in the game and I weakness is Kitsunes. Belfast, she is the perfect maid and I love her personality. Bismarck, mainly due the real world history of the ship, but from the game I understand her thought process on the future of humanity. Plus she is a badass
Speaking of marvel comics, I would just love to see Deadpool in this anime for no other reason then to not only annoy the hell out of the members of both azur lane and red axis with his shitty pun jokes and nicknames, but also the Sirens. 😞 kill me now for being a big Deadpool fan.
I've got a few questions I wanted to ask regarding Fate/Stay Night and Enterprise. Of course I understand that these are completely different universes that have nothing to do with the other, so for the time being I've chosen to ignore that fact. Let's start with a bit of context: So (for whatever reason) Enterprise can no longer use her rigging anymore. She can't use her bow and arrows; can't glide on the water, summon her ship form, or rely on any of her planes for help. She has no known superhuman abilities whatsoever. She's been reduced to a normal human. Her biology might still be different than that of a normal human being, but you would hardly be able to tell the difference. Now suddenly she has gained a new ability. She can now use (a form of) Projection and Tracing magic; kind of like what Shirou uses but not exactly the same thing, and this ability would be unique to her specifically. So here's what I wanted to ask: How would Enterprise gain this ability? What conditions and circumstances (aside from being a mage) would have to be met for her to possess it? Would Enterprise experience the same kind of struggles that Shirou did, or would her struggles be more unique? Would Enterprise's nature as both a ship and a human girl affect how she uses this ability? If so how? And why? If Enterprise were to have this ability, how would she be able to use it, and what would her limits be? There's undoubtedly a lot of points that I've skipped or glossed over so anything you have to say would be greatly appreciated. I will let you know if I have any more questions. Thank you.
@otakudaikun It's fine. It's because of your expertise in Fate lore that I wanted to hear your opinion on what I had to say. I guess I got a bit carried away. So if I may, allow me to ask a simpler question that I'd love to get your opinion on: How would you feel about Enterprise having similar abilities as Shirou Emiya, including Unlimited Blade Works? Personally I find the idea of Enterprise being able to project an entire fleet of ships out of thin air to be quite fascinating. Not to mention Enterprise could potentially replicate the abilities of other ships and modify them for her own purposes. And what if Shirou himself was the one who taught her how to use her new gift? Just your honest opinion. Also I watched your Fate manga video. Thanks for that. 👍 Oh and I suppose I should ask if you know anybody who is well versed in Azur Lane lore.
Didn't expect you to cover Azur Lane, but I'm NOT complaining, though. Difficult to choose which is my favorite shipgirl here. Really liked and enjoyed watching this, stay SAFE and stay AWESOME.
-Ex-AL Player / Still in FGO Salt here- -Correction, it's actually Wisdom Cubes..- But eh.. Not that big of a problem.. Would've hoped that Ironblood had more screentime though..
I have played the game and found myself really enjoying the world it has(despite the fact that my phone crashed making me lose all of my progress), then my friend mentioned a shipgirl that he likes a lot(I just remembered that he may like the two twins from the Sakura Empire and not Kaga and Akagi, though he does like them too)and finally my second one not only played the PS4 game that came out and beat it but he also played the mobile game AND got some shipgirls that he has been digging for quite a while. World is interesting, each nation has a shipgirl and the girls themselves range from cute and adorable to hot and very attractive but they do act human. Nice lore video on Azur Lane and great job in reminding why I did and still do love this series.
Where did you get the information that Yorktown had two ampuated legs? I knew she was hurt in some way, but the show never really revealed in what way?
@@otakudaikun lul we're all in the same boat then - but that's what this game does - it makes you want to learn more about them. Because apparently learning with your dong has pretty crazy effects.
Remember: Enterprise and Belfast are ONLY friends, and please don't interpret it like they have intimate relationship whatsoever. Please don't Yuri them.
