The Lore of Fate Grand Order XVIII - SIN Lostbelt 

CORRECTION! As a lot of you have pointed out, True Ancestors and Dead Apostles do in fact exist in FGO's timeline as well as in other "Fate" timelines. This includes the Types, such as Brunestud of the Crimson Moon. What IS different is that the True Ancestors and Dead Apostles play a much smaller role. The Dead Apostles don't organize as the Dead Apostle Ancestors, and the full extent of the True Ancestor's fate regarding their bloodlust isn't nearly as developed. As such, Da Vinci would totally know what a True Ancestor is. Another implication of all this is that, technically, FGO's Sion is also vampiric, though the details of this are still really vague, which is why I didn't focus on it.

The MVP of this lostbelt is Spartacus sacrifice by using his np which inspired a rebellion summoning 2 new servants

Sion's inclusion was a fanservice that was foreshadowed before fgo was even released. If anyone doesn't know, in melty blood the end of the world TATARI mentioned was apparently grand order.

I found LB3 to a refreshing change of pace in that we tactically outclass most of our opposition for a change (with Yu Mei-Ren established to be a pitifully incompetent Master), with us soundly defeating what is thrown against us with our own resources, rather than relying on deus ex machina to save our butts. While still challenging, it still felt good to feel like a veteran commander taking the fight to the enemy.

fun fact: this lostbelt was written by Gen Urobuchi, the writer of Fate/Zero. gives a little something extra to think about imo

I think the writing in this Lostbelt just completely outclasses everything else in Fate/GO. The world building and theories are so interesting.

Before heading off to the Indian Lostbelt; might I suggest going over the Tokugawa Event, since it acts as a kind of prologue and interlude, leading up to it (even if it's mentioned, more or less, in passing at the end). Plus it also involves the remaining half of Beast III. As for Koyanskaya; part of me thinks she didn't suffer enough at Qin Shi Huang's "hands". And IF, we somehow put her down near/at the end of this whole Lostbelt ordeal, I wouldn't mind having her as a Servant, since she'd have little choice, but to pay up the debt of grievance she's accumulated against us. I couldn't help, but feel sorry for Hinako/Yu, during this whole bit. She had something of a second chance (with both, her husband and best friend Lanling) within her Lostbelt, but thanks to Koyanskaya, we basically robbed her of that. Granted, it still left a bad taste to destroy the Lostbelt, but I was more onboard to do so after learning about Qin Shi Huang's practices; such as euthanizing (murdering) his people before reaching the end of their natural lifespans.

I cannot tell you how many times I rewatch this series whenever I'm bored. It's so entertaining!

I was recently spooked by Xiang Yu in FGO, and I hope to reunite him with Yu Mei-ren someday.

This is my favorite Lostbelt so far. I am also happy for most of China's heroic spirit to communicate with each other.

I really enjoyed this one! It cost me a bit, but it was worth whaling to make sure Yu and Xiang were reunited in Chaldea. Getting Qin Liangyu was awesome and she’s one of my better lancers. Plus seeing Emperor Qin purposefully getting Kominsky’s name wrong was funny! No wait that’s wrong, how do you pronounce it again? Koyachihuahua?

While not being able to play FGO in Europe, watching this story unfold, and meet up with many of the Heroic Spirits, along with some of their history is really enjoyable. Wasent expecting a vid about this today. Nice job!

I gotta say I love Yu Mei-ren, mainly because I fell she is a tragic case. Imagine if she had good interactions with humans? Maybe even a willing to interact and act as a Senpai/mentor role for both the master/humans as a whole. But because of what she is people attacked her and labeled her a monster, thus she Detested humans. Even when she’e summoned she clearly dislikes master (and humans still). Her joy when she’s reunited with her love though honesty melts my heart. While she’s pretty I feel this is the one romance I will happily respect (I mean I wouldn’t want to have my head ripped off)

Forgive me if I’ve said it already, but Gao Changgong simply doesn’t feel like Hinako’s proper Servant. They have a close connection and care greatly about one another, but she is decidedly NOT good as a tactician nor is she able to properly direct him. This issue vanishes when fighting alongside Xiang Yu, himself a military genius of unprecedented skill even as a Berserker. He is also the person Yu is most devoted to on the entire planet. It is fir these reasons that I feel Xiang Yu is Consort Yu’s TRUE partner and ally, not to diminish Gao’s dedication or importance. Kadoc Zemlupus, Crypter of the Permafrost Empire and his Caster: Anastasia Nikolaevna Romanova, Grand Duchess of Russia. Ophelia Phamrsolone, Crypter of the Eternal Ice Fire Century and her Saber: Sigurd, the King of Warriors. Hinako Akuta, Crypter of the Synchronized Intelligence Nation AKA Yu Mei-ren, Yu the Beauty and her Berserker: Xiang Yu, Demon King of Western Chu. Scandinavia Peperoncino, Crypter of the Samsāra of Genesis and Terminus and his Archer: Aśvatthāman, Rudra Avatāra, Fury Incarnate. Kirschtaria Wodime, Crypter of the Interstellar Mountainous City and his Lancer: Caenis, One Sullied by the Sea. That leaves only Beryl Gut, Crypter of the Fairy Realm of the Round Table, Daybit Sem Void, Crypter of the Sea of Trees, and their Servants. If they continue the same pattern of using one of the seven standard classes, I presume (for obvious reasons) Beryl has an Assassin, meaning Daybit’s personal Servant would be a Rider. I hope this provides food for thought.

To clarify on the True Ancestor thing, True Ancestors are a constant in most Nasuverse works from Fate, Tsukihime, Mahou Tsukai no Yoru, and Kara no Kyoukai since in all works the existence of Type Moon aka Brunestud of the Crimson Moon is guaranteed. It is unknown in the Fate universe if the True Ancestors were wiped out since Arcuied probably never went berserk due to the fact that Roa may not exist in the Fate universe or just never became a dead apostle. True Ancestors nonetheless exist in Fate but the Dead Apostle Ancestors as a group/concept don’t exist but some of the individuals such as Ainnashe, Caubac Alcatraz, and Van-Fem are present or have been known to exist and are just referred to as Superior Dead Apostles. Now on to the part where Da Vinci calls Hinako a TA is strange as hinako is clearly not a True Ancestors so this misconception is likely caused by one of two reasons: 1. Localization errors - Same issue as Artoria being called Altria or the change in skill or NP names. This might be likely since in JP is referred to as a being “similar” to true Ancestors. 2. Da Vinci had no knowledge on any beings similar to True Ancestors - Even due TA’s are vampiric beings they are quite different from most other vampires. One is that they are more closer to the concept of elementals rather than being a simple Phantasmal Species as they are even referred to as “greater fairies”. Two is the fact that their vampiric impulses are psychological rather than a physical need. Now Hinako quite literally fits into the requirements for being a True Ancestor as she is a vampiric elemental which is exactly what a TA is but she has some slight differences. She can suppress herself to the point where she is in a human like state of being and can die from normal injuries while Arcuied has been weakened many a time but neither reached a similar state. Another factor is that it is never shown or stated that she suffers from vampiric impulses nor does she receive backup from the counter force or the moon. She has also never been shown using a Marble Phantasm. Hinako is actually a Zhenren (form of Chinese Immortal) which in fate is a powerful vampiric elemental closely related to True Ancestors. It’s likely Da Vinci just didn’t know this information and just believed Hinako to be a True Ancestor.

Ur vids are genuinely helpful to me, someone who has played since the beginning but does not know JP. Yes, I played since Lostbelst started with only the pictures from the chapters as a means to understand the story. Due to this, I did not know Nemo is Sion's Servant, or that Sion is the cause There are 7 nemo. I look forward to the future summaries until lostbelt 5 included. Since I took the translation app too late, Lostbelt 5 is where I need to catch up the story to. Keep it up. U are amazing!

QSH best king Currently. I loved how he learned a lot through the story and instead of act like he was the be all end all. His fist fight battle got me pumped as I respected him while doing so. Best king no doubt. Also felt nice to leave a lostbelt on good terms and QSH Actually caring enough to see them at thier last moment. The rest are cowards. Story wise was short but I liked it overall as yu paisen has more character than Ophelia ever could and I loved how she kept attacking us but had her own goals. I didn't care for panda lancer or mordred much but the other cn servants were great. Overall if it had just a few fixes it would have been perfect.

OK, a few things to add to this excellent lore video to expand and clarify: - *Sion Eltnam Sokaris* is also not a completely human being in the FGO timeline. Twin-tailed Sion also consumes blood, or rather a substitute, and the Captain did confirm she's not entirely human. - *Han Xin* was not just an important figure in the Han dynasty, he was a key figure in establishing it and thus was one of Xiang Yu's direct contenders (fighting on the side of Liu Bang [the future Emperor Han Gaozu of Han]). He was 10 year old when the Qin Dynasty was established and around 20 and a military man when it collapsed 210 BCE. In the year after Qin Shi Huang-Di's death he joined Xiang Yu, but 3 years later defected to the Service of Liu Bang. Some of the other advisors of Liu Bang did distrust him and warned against his ambitions, so he was winning battles and got promoted but also was viewed with suspicion. Han Xin was devising main parts of the strategy for the the Battle of Gaixia that was the end of Xiang Yu. But in the following year those who suspected a brewing rebellion managed to get the Emperor Gazou (former Liu Bang) to demote him from King of Chu to Marquis of Huaiyin. 5 years later, when he did claimed illness as reason for not partaking in a campaign against a rebellion by Chen Xi ( a man of the same rank as Han Xin and one he was said to have promised support in case of a rebellion), he was lured into a trap by the empress and killed accused as a traitor. There is a legend that he once was promised by Emperor Gaozu “As you face Heaven and stand firm on Earth [a way to say being loyal], you will not be killed by any weapons used by soldiers”. It is said that he was killed being suspended by ropes under a great bell (blocking the view of Heaven) and pierced by pieces of sharpened bamboo (not the kind of weapons soldiers use). - There certainly are *doujins with Vitch in captivity of Chaldea*, but I have seen non with Goredolf specifically using the situation for comeuppance Maybe that is because Goredolf falls through the grid of most lables. He is portly, but not an ugly bastard. Past his mid 20s, but not really old. Not a main character, but no faceless goon. - While it is true that *Qin Shi Huang-Di* did invest the world's future into Ritsuka's hands he did not do so unconditionally. First of all as a Servant he considers himself an observer and ultimately *judge of the cause of Proper Human History* with the intention to *reestablish a Qin world-state* if what he sees is "unpardonably hideous" (The full quote is: "should the mankind of pan-human history prove themselves to be unpardonably hideous beings, We will revive the Qin once more." (Interlude) and “Let us make this very clear: We came to determine whether or not the citizens of this world have some pride in themselves. Should there be failings of this society that cannot be overlooked, we will have no choice but to decide to create a new Qin in this Proper Human History. We shall do so, even if it means making an enemy of you once again (Bond Level 1 dialogue). Furthermore, his interlude (queenofnohr.tumblr.com/post/624385049564987392/shi-huangdi-interlude-the-arbiters-melancholy/amp?__twitter_impression=true) shows us that he did use the Rayshift system to establish diverging point, pretty much proper Singularities, as a security measure. His Servant version did interact with his Lostbelt King self (during the Grace Period when the Shadowboarder was studied it seems) to warn him of the Pruning Phenomenon and work out a plan to create Singularities that work a little like "save points' in a video game. Timelines where a Qin Empire does continue without the being pruned. He claims (to DaVinchi and Sherlock after they figure out the Rayshift system was used and they confronted the Qin Shi Huang-Di of one [failed] Singularity, Ritsuka does not know) that they are just fail saves established to create a Pan Human history dominated by a Qin world-state in case Ritsuka fails to defeat the Alien God in order to make sure such a victory can be achieved (“It’s insurance, so to speak. We are a heavenly being that rules over the world of man. An invasion of earth by something inhuman is something We cannot forgive. In the event of Ritsuka’s complete victory over the “Alien God,” We shall forget Our precautions as a needless anxiety. With the dismissal of all Singularities, We shall celebrate this victory of the people. Of course, that was the plan all along.”). I think it's not so much that True Ancestors don't exist in Fate worlds, it's that they don't have the influence on the world (both figuratively and literally) that they do in Tsukihime worlds. I see it as a balance. In worlds where human history is strong enough, it keeps TA and DAA from gaining too much power and allows the summoning of Heroic Spirits, and likewise, in worlds where TA and DAA have usurped the human order, Heroic Spirits can no longer be summoned (functionally similar to the SIN Lostbelt prior to Spartacus' sacrifice).

Well, besides other small things I already mentioned in other replies, I believe you either overlooked or believed wrongly the true state of Sion in FGO. Every clue thus far, even Captain’s own words in LB4 and Yu’s interlude, point out Sion’s inhumanity. Basically she is every bit a bloodsucker as her Melty Blood version. How she became one is the true question and remains unanswered.

I'm half and half on the torture of Koyanskaya. One the one had she is evil and tricked gordo into falling for her so she could use him as a spy and then tried to posions Ritska and is evil. But at the same time (and this is weak) she is pretty hot and I like them whicked and mean, but it's also horrible to torture someone is such horrific ways especilly when they can't fight back as without her powers she's basiclly human.

Hay man, I really love your videos and they're a great recap of the story since fgo is soo big right now..I always keep forgetting important story elements. But one thing would be really great..you often spoil things that aren't known in the current story part you're talking about (like captains identity which is only revealed in India). I already finished India but it would be a shame for people who aren't done with it yet. Maybe only talk about the information of the lostbelt you're talking about or put in a spoiler tag (and how far into the story you're gonna spoil)

Well during my last comment I stated how I was at the Second Gawain fight rn I've finished arc 1 and 1.5(except shimousa). I've started lb 1 but I think lb 2 is the max I'm going because I've been playing for like 3.5 months so I don't have much golden apples or leveled servants. I personally would like to catch up with the JP side of things to be up to date and dismiss the inevitable spoilers but at the same, I wouldn't want to read it off the wiki and ruin the experience. So I would rather watch your lore video or wait to read it myself on NA release.

I can't give you much you don't already know sadly.. but Da Vinci never called her A True Ancestor, just that she was "akin to something like a True Ancestor". As for timelines I've been under the believe that Garden of Sinners and Fgo are in the same timeline but I have no real evidence. Except that some cataclysm happens later in Shiki"s life. I've assumed Solomon's incineration. But "Fate" tends to be on the side where True Ancestors don't really have much power in the world or just dont exist

It's interesting how the Lostbelts compare to "proper human history" as Chaldea advances. Russian lostbelt was this frozen and monster infested wasteland that even Paxi didn't like once he learned of the alternative. Then the Norse one was bad but not as bad, but then you get to this one and then you start comparing pros and cons.
