I don't understand how you can dislike the sound of your voice. It's so soothing. I listen to your lore videos while I work and it puts me in this sort of zen state of productivity...and I get to learn new lore things, too!
It would be awesome if you did a Daedric artifacts lore episode because I truly enjoy those weapons but I have no clue how they became or who has possessed them.
Stumbling unto this channel was the biggest "NOT" mistake I've ever made. You guys are awesome, thank you so much for taking your time to do all this. It has made replaying Skyrim for me so much awesomer. I've replayed the whole game 4 times already, and I still can't get enough. Pls keep this up and don't worry about the views and support, it'll keep pouring in with time. Thanks again, you guys are the bomb.
Michael Cain My brother, I wish I could be Like you, playing such a big game 4times already. Like I'm always here saying I want to play that game over but damn too much time would be spent again grinding for some rare items, searching for quest that I once played but forgotten where it was and power lvling to get my stealth and archery at 100. Please tell me, what keeps you going for more?
addixnng Each time I do I use new Mods, a new race, I make new choices and explore the open world more. Sure there are missions you won't want to play again but just play through those ones fast and you should be able to play the whole game again. I just love the game and it's open world, everytime I play it makes me feel so alive and free. Like I'm living an alternate life, an escape from reality (like the movie Avatar). When you play it like that, you'd definitely enjoy it. :D
Michael Cain now I can't do that. Never a fan of replaying a story. I only did it with Fallout 3, NV, and ES Skyrim is because I played them on PS3 and then it broke so I got the 360 and made new and better stories for F3 and Skyrim. I got NV on PC and made a new better story as well. Also got dlc on my new stories. But I can replay the game again. I just find stuff I haven't done or just roam around finding stuff and killing bad creatures and bad people. Meet new people...aaaaand yeah lol. Its like I'm living other lives as well with these games as well as Oblivion and its great af. Will forever love these games
I think everybody should appreciate the work these guys put into this stuff. I only found this channel 2 months ago and have watched all the lore. If the shoddy cast needs more views, I will do what I can to give them more views, who's with me?
I think Shoddy deserve a round of applause, amazing is one way to describe the lore series. I've watched all of the Skyrim videos and they're both informative and interesting. Congrats to Shoddy on an amazing series and to more in the future. *Applauds the Shoddy cast. *
"If you're still watching this video, chances are you are a person who possesses a pretty healthy attention span." Why, thank you! Finally something I can be complimented on :-P
No no no! Keep doing what you're doing, how you do and most importantly why you do. I love, adore and sincerely appreciate the Elder Scroll lore and your work presenting the story. Thank you ALL so much for your time and talent!
I read all the books that I find in the Elder Scrolls. Some of them rank as very well written short stories. They'd be publishable as a real book, I think. "The Mystery of Princess Talara," followed by "The Real Barenziah," followed by "A Dance in Fire," followed by "An Argonian Account," and so on until you have a 500-page anthology. Oh yeah, it would sell. Even if you can read every word for free online, it would still sell.
These are exceptionally well-done and professional videos. Thanks, and keep it up! Shoddy, I have a suggestion, not for myself and other viewers, but for you personally. Go and read Joseph Campbell's "The Hero With A Thousand Faces." I think that not only would you tremendously enjoy it, but you would have an endless supply of material for your videos too.
ryan93c11 Fucking. Huge. And it's permanently expanding. Warcraft lore...i guess it's much more than Skyrim or Fallout. Maybe as much as both combined.
ryan93c11 This is very late to reply but I recently heard somewhere there are 6 million pieces of text that cover the WOW lore in World of Warcraft alone, I've heard it has the biggest lore of any game franchise, more then The Witcher, TES and Fallout combined.
Thanks for making this and giving us a glimpse into what you do. It's made me want to work harder on my own channel. I always enjoy supporting the ShoddyCast when I can. I hope you continue on and grow. Great job to everyone involved.
Guys, I love your lore series! Also, I would welcome the start of a lore series about Dragon Age and Mass Effect with open arms. Bethesda and Bioware are absolutely amazing in making their games, just as you are amazing in making your videos!
I have been taking this series for granted and didn't realise how muck effort and passion you put into these episodes after this video. Thanks Shoddy cast May your channel live long Cheers
i just want u guys to know that i greatly appreciate these videos. i love skyrim and the elder scrolls but i dont know much about the lore and u guys have helped me discover it. so thank you very much, appreciate the hard work and dedication
It’s surprising how effective writing your own subtitles is towards views and overall quality of your video. I personally love when I find a content creator that’s gone out of his/her way to write in subtitles that are correct.
I recently found your elder scrolls lore series and I am loving it. This channel does the best lore videos of all the channels I have found. Thanks for the time you guys put into the lore series.
Dear ShoddyCast, When I first got Skyrim two years ago (along with my first ((and only)) console), and quite frankly. I didn't give a damn about the lore. "Ooh, some person is in trouble because of this event that didn't happen." Would be my reaction to almost everything in the game. Books in the game were just for aesthetics. But finally, whilst browsing the RU-vids I stumbled onto this channel. To keep the story short, thanks to your channel, I have discovered a love and passion for the lore of 'The Elder Scrolls' series. Thank you, Your adoring fan.
This was very nicely put together. I believe that a lot of people don't realize, or even forget, how much work goes into making these video presentations. It gets even harder when you don't have the skills yourself, but most of the time, it just takes an idea and then the willingness and drive to try and make it work. Thank you for the presentation, and thank you for putting together the Lore series. I enjoy the Elderscrolls series very much, especially when I started playing Skyrim, my first excursion into the Elderscrolls world.
I knew you guys put many hours into each of your videos and this one just makes me appreciate the time you put into them even more. Keep up the work! Just one thing: Could you possibly do a video specifically for the Snow Elves of Skyrim? I know you mentioned them in a couple videos, but if it's at all possible could you do one just for them?
Isn't it too late now? Like they already discussed the Elves of Tamriel and just sticking in a Snow Elf video wouldn't make any sense as it doesn't lead to anything. I think a Snow Elf video would be great, it's a fascinating topic, but there simply isn't enough "meat" to the topic as, for example, the High Elves. But I guess we can hope for them to do a video on the Falmer. ShoddyCast, if your reading this THANK YOU SO MUCH for the Elder Scrolls and Fallout Lore series. The videos are endlessly fascinating and there simply is nothing else like this on RU-vid. I personally, have only seen Dark Souls Lore videos (they're pretty big now-a-days) but you guys are truly, utterly, awe-inspiringly, different from the rest of RU-vid. Congratulations!!! :D
Got into lore more and more when i played oblivion then i played skyrim and read evry book...I spent a long time reading. Then i found this channel and i went lore crazy xD
I love this series so much, very well done. The lore is what really made me favorite the Elder Scrolls above all other games, among a lot of other content.
Thanks for doing this and thanks to everyone who donated to support it. I am a fan of TES series, but never knew half the things mentioned here, despite playing trough the games. Also looking forward if and when you make Dragon Age, Warcarft, Witcher Lore series, since I didn't play half those games, I did try DA and Witcher and it just didn't grasp me as it is, but I know there's more to it, so I'd like to know it's story to give it a chance it might deserve. Also, the new TES voice actor is good (old one was good too actually, I'm fine with either tbh, whatever is easier for you guys). Great work with the art too, I got no idea how you made half those screenshots, I assume with mods. Hope you continue this good work and that the channel gets the attention it deserves.
Excellent lore Series, thank you very much for making this Lore Series, i appreciate all the time you guys put into to this, and i love how professional this is, dont change anything :)
I'm so happy this channel exists. The elder scrolls lore feels like actual legend. It's narration and layout is beautiful and after the video ends it leaves me with a wonderful story to recall when playing the the game or simply being lost in thought of the story itself. I'll catch myself playing the lore while in transit from A to B or with headphones before bed. The changes you have made have drastically improved the quality of the story, but all the videos have been purely enjoyable since the beginning! You guys have really filled a void in my gaming interest and keep opening doors not just in informational facts I didn't know of the game, but also creating a new feel in the experience I have in game. I again am grateful for your efforts and will show my appreciation by contributing my resources so many others can gain the genuine appreciation I have for the stories you so beautifully tell. Thank you.
I rarely ever comment on youtube, but i feel that this is a good reason to do so.I have watched so many videos about games and i have done large amounts of research on several particular game series throughout the years, Elder Scrolls and Fallout being two of the more interesting ones for me personally and i just have to say,i have never enjoyed watching anything about video games more than i have watching the Lore series.I am one of those gamers that does try to read every book or note there is to find in a game, i am passionate about learning everything there is to learn and i believe that Lore in video games and the people who come up with it and put it on paper do not nearly receive the respect and admiration they deserve. You guys outdo yourself and put together a little masterpiece every time, to show people what the wonderful world of video game lore is all about and for that i salute you and i truly hope you continue to do so for a very long time. I wish you all the best and i will keep folowing your exploits with great interest.Thank you for doing this.
Love the lore and I always try to spread the words of your videos among my friends. So keep up the great work, it's just a matter of time until your views will go through the roof :).
You guys have no idea how much Fallout / Skyrim fanatics love these lore series, you guys have done amazing work, thank you so much for making these, it brings a whole new love for the series.
Thank you guys for making this video, you may not like the sound of your own voice, but for many of us who have watched from the beginning, it has become one that is as much a part of the culture of the Elder Scorls series as Malukahs songs and covers are to it :) ... I have to say your recent lore on Ulfric Stormcloak is the only one to make me cringe, i'm guessing you had no lore checkers on that vid at all as I went to your listed sources and found speculation and fan fiction the greater aspects of them. I've researched the story of Ulfric in Great detail from in game sources which do not line up with a lot of wiki entries and found your vid as accurate as a report on Abraham Lincoln based off of the movie Abraham Lincoln; Vampire Slayer. I'd love to contribute to a remake of that topic, though my script writing is untested and I have no posted material (aside from 1,000's of youtube debates on the subject)\ ~Talos Guide You
Iv'e played it for 12 years and still going strong. It has changed over time. That is to be expected of course. The reasons to play it have changed as well (to where it likely won't attract the same audience it did even 6 years ago). But, it has never actually gotten boring for me. You may wish to revisit it. Now is an amazing time to do so. I really think you will be presently surprised by the new environment. and especially the massive changes in the works. Changes the players decided under the new player driven development system. Here is a short list of things we will see in the months to come: - Massively improved banking system (this month). - The return of weapon specials (likely within the next 3). - Sweeping improvements to EoC (half of them are already applied). - A true retro mode for the post EoC game (this still depends on players voting). - Continued development and maintenance of the 07' servers. - The elven city (already in the works and their continuosly polling us on the larger details).
Haha, same. I can't say that I have played it for 12 years, but 8 years isn't a small amount of time either. :P I will admit, that lore hasn't always interested me, but in the latest couple of years, I have been very interested in the RS lore, which also made me enjoy lore in other games like Skyrim. :) I also completely agree that people should give it another try, and a proper try; not just play about with it for a few minutes/an hour, but several hours, and putting some effort into it. I see *many* people who just drop the game, due to change, without ever giving it an actual try. Jagex are working hard on improving the game. They may not pick the correct actions all the time, but seen from a distance, the game is massively improving. Btw, if you wish to watch some lore videos about RS, you may want to check out TheCompleteRS's channel. ;)
Zenyl if they released it for mobile i would definitely play again but there are so many other games that dont have a 7$sub that are in my opinion better or if they do have a sub have more to over...though many fond memerories in the wilderness
Understandable. Thing is that it is a game built over more then a decade. And, with how often it is updated. It is simply not going to be the game you signed up for even 2 years after you start playing. I thought about giving it up a few times. But, I guess at some point I got used to that. And, then started to enjoy it. That it is a game that constantly remakes itself. So, it simply never gets boring for me.
Thank you everyone of ShoddyCast! This channel deserves WAY more subscribers. I've tried watching other lore videos but they put me to sleep. Your videos are exiting and reliable but now only if there be a team to do halo lore because halo has such an vast universe that very little people know of, anyways thanks for the great video and keep up the amazing work!
i know its not an RPG and i have no idea if you even like the game, but halo actually has some really cool lore but i really love your lore series, its something i like to listen to allot
I have not really played any Halo games, but from what I have learned about it, it seems it does have a rich story. I support your suggestion, TheT7770ify.
This would be amazing. Halo waypoint does have some lore on their site which is exactly what the Shoddy Cast's work reminded me of at first, but it is far less detailed and lacks the quality that these guys put in. Halo's Lore is quite understated. The games also have at least 12 novels, 7 anime shorts and a bunch of other media based on everything from untold stories from the present day Spartans, the origin of the war all the way back to the Forerunner's and their beginnings 100,000 years ago. The potential is certainly there, and it would be nice to have some of this information in a more digestible size some day.
I'm in love with the Halo lore. Though I don't get the same feel with 343 devoloping the upcoming Halo games. I just don't like the new lore and artwork.
I just found this series like two days ago, and I just wanted to say I'm in awe of how well these are presented! these videos are really beautifully made.
I know its been a while since you posted this, and I've only been delving into the Elder Scrolls series for about a month but I love reading the wiki articles. So when I came across your channel and these lore videos, I was floored. Its nice to see someone put effort into something not just because of the monetary gains but because of the love they have for the thing. These videos are amazing.
The lore videos are absolutely amazing. I truly appreciate the amount of time and work that goes into each episode. I'm currently addicted the the Fallout series. I haven't played these games in years but it's so awesome to go back and see the deeper story behind everything going on in the Wasteland. I will definitely be starting Fallout 3 again then New Vegas. Thanks again for coming up with these great videos. I truly appreciate a great video that takes the time and effort to flesh out story. I can not wait for a Dark Souls lore series. I love what VaatiVidya does on his Channel but I'm very interested to see how ShoddyCast tackles the deep dark story that is the Dark Souls lore. I'm sure it'll be great.
I know this probably wont be read by any of the creators of your lore shows but either way I would like to thank you, while lets plays are enjoyable and have given lots of people careers doing what they love, I find that show like this, shows like Game Theory and every show that puts so much time, effort, and heart into making something so professional. Its so nice to see content of such high quality to be produced by people that with out RU-vid, without the Internet and most importantly without the people supporting them, might of never had the chance to create any of it. So thank you ShoddyCast and everyone who makes these shows what they are, you guys have created something truly special.
This was perhaps one of the things I have always wanted to do myself, but never had time to do. I love lore. Thank You so much for your hard work ShoddyCast =)
Wow! That was a great Behind the scenes! I almost got the same feeling as when I watched the "real" Skyrim Behind the scenes :) Now, I have only seen one Lore episode so far, but I will definitely watch all of them starting now. I have one request... Maybe we can vote on the next Lore series? I'd love to see a The Witcher lore series. Thank you for producing this great and high quality work for us who can't stand Let's Plays and other unfocused short videos. Great work!
you guys are sooooo awesome!!!! i love these videos so much!!!, the cinematics!, the story's and the devotion is amazing!!!! and i apriciate your guys's dedication!!!!!!!!
I just find you on every video huh? :P Got excited hearing about Bethesda possibly announcing Fallout 4 at E3 this year so decided to hear a bunch of this lore.
ShoddyCast perfectly describes lore fanatics like myself. I stumbled upon lore, specifically Fallout lore, at the age of 11 and have continued in the 6 years since then. I've always been searching for good fallout related videos, photos, and other content but your series has been the one of, if not the, best so far.
It really is awesome how a handful of bright individuals have the motivation, passion (and money;) to give us (the majority:) a backstory lore to games we all adore and love that's very accurate as well as exciting. on behalf of this fan base and me personally thank you ShoddyCast!
Hey Shoddy Cast I just want you to know exactly why I watch your channel. I have been fascinated by Lore in games and fictional universes. I find myself taking my time during public transit rides and such reading Lore Wikis and such. I wanted to tell you that you guys are doing an amazing job. I choose your channel over the many other lore channels and series. You guys don't water down your channel with other shows (such as lets plays which have their own merit on other channel). The episodes are excellently narrated and written. The time and dedication used on these videos are absolutely amazing. much better than the others found on other RU-vid Channels. In the future I would love to make a recommendation for you guys. As a long running Star Wars fan I would love to see you guys make a series on that. There is an amazing amount of contend out there and you should cover it. I would offer my services on research if needed but I would love to see a Lore Series on my favourite universe of all time.
Hey guys. I started watching the Elder scrolls lore series in the summer, and it has almost been a whole year! What you guys do is awesome, and the whole community appreciates it. Keep doing what you guys are doing, and I wish the best of luck. I may even donate!
Before every sitting of me playing Skyrim i have to watch a Lore series episode! It has made me enjoy the world of Tamriel so much. It gives a meaning to the game that makes me feel like there is so much to the world, So much history and lore that i get lost in. When i see a shrine of Talos in the world of Skyrim or i'm fighting a Daedra Prince it give a whole new meaning to the game. One that i know i could not enjoy without your great episodes and hard work. Thank you! You got me hooked.
ShoddyCast, You are oh so inspiring and I love you guys, I (even tho of only recent) am a huge fan of your Lore series, I know all the Lore I learn from you already, but yet i'll re-watch your videos, I spent hours on Wiki reading lore for a huge varity of series, Yet you make them interesting, Thank you for all of your hard work, I do forget to like your videos, and it shames me, you are a lovely crew, I want to make videos like this some day. Thanks for everything
I personally hope you gain (if you haven't already) the attention of Bethesda. I think their story-writers would love you guys, because you're right...a lore writer for a video game is probably the most thankless job in the world. Keep up the work, I absolutely love The Elder Scrolls Lore...eventually I will get around to watching the Fallout Lore.
Scarbs Watch one of their videos called, "Remember the Chalamo!" When only a few players held a keep from waves of Aldmeri Dominion and Ebonheart pact players. It was the first major PVP battle in the Beta that showed you could use strategy to defeat a much larger enemy.
I totally agree, games like COD or Battlefield are bound by the constraints of the real world. Sure the gameplay is fun but think about storyline! For this reason, I absolutely love Elder Scrolls and Assassins' Creed.
I love games and i love documentaries. First time i watched Fallout Lore i thought it's some kind of a documentary with a big budget. I can see a lot of work in every aspect of your movies and you are doing it the right way. Thank you for making all of your videos. Keep up the great work!
I just wanted to thank you guys for posting these videos.. I work incredibly long night shifts and can’t even begin to tell you how many times I put on this playlist to get me through the night. It’s amazing and I really enjoy all the work put into these. I’ve learned so much and all of you music, voice acts and when I’m at home I finally get to see the amazing visuals. Thank you so much~
It would be so amazing if you guys were to start a Mass Effect lore series!!! There is of course less lore to build the series upon then Elder Scrolls and probably also Fallout but Mass Effect have still enough to work with and it would be a great story to tell!
Yeah but Fantasy has a LOT of lore. Such as LOTR and GoT are prime examples. Amazing fictional worlds are beautiful and extremely interesting. Anyway I'd rather see more Fantasy Lore like Middle-Earth or Weateros videos :)
Actually didn't realize the depth of work that goes into these videos nor did I acknowledge the amount of commitment you guys have put into this channel. I'm glad you have embraced what you are passionate about. Best of luck in this channel's future!
for some reason this video poped out as my suggested videos. i ve never seen your chanell before, but now i m really happy that i found you. just to tell if you don t know, warhamer 40k has really cool lore and you can check it out if you are not lazy. it a startegy game not RPG, but it still has a really good lore
A little more than 3 years ago I hated RPGs because I just wanted to play and not spend my time agonizing over attribute points and reading massive blocks of text (even though I actually love books, especially fantasy). So I only played games like Tomb Raider, Need For Speed etc. Basically, I just didn't want to think in my digital escape. But honestly, I really wasn't having that much fun as I felt I should have. I was getting rather bored with video games. Then a friend recommended me Mass Effect. I installed it, thinking it's just another Star Wars rip-off but resolved to at least try it out because I didn't want to disappoint my friend. And then, after a few hours of playing, meeting interesting characters, wondering at the fact that I could actually choose my responses in dialogue ... I found myself enjoying it so much more than I ever enjoyed mindless hack-and-slash and racing games. I fell in love with it - the story, the characters, the choices ... I wanted to kick myself for believing RPGs were boring. Mass Effect soon led to Dragon Age, Neverwinter Nights, Jade Empire, Knights of the Old Republic, and finally Skyrim. And the more I played RPGs, the more I loved the stories you could only find by researching the lore. And here I am today, playing games for the story rather than just for the sake of playing something, finding spending points on attributes/talents not annoying at all, infected with the "lore virus", installing Oblivion and seriously considering giving Morrowind a chance (its story sounds so much better than Skyrim's).
ironically enough, today I'm 29, and i'v stumbled upon this channel by accident just now, yet Fallout universe served as subject to many thoughts and ideas in my own life. Tbh I was astonished by detail and amount of work you have done there, it reminded me my own investigations i have done back in the day. Great job guys, live and prosper, and extra thnx for this particular video too!
Thank you for producing this lore series and taking the great time and effort to do it so well! As an avid reader of fiction ever since I was very young, I have also noticed that same appreciation for video games that are lore-heavy. I agree that there's something exciting and freeing to getting lost in a fantasy world, whether my imagination is inspired from the page of a book or the visuals and dialogue of a video game. Learning more about Tamriel and its inhabitants has enriched my experience playing Skyrim and makes me want to look into past and future Elder Scroll games.
the plot of ac that people care about is revisioned world history while the stuff about the first civilization is pretensious guano on toast. and don't even get me started on desmond
***** Do you only mean the secound AC or also Brotherhood and Revelations? The secound part sucked quite a lot. I kinda enjoyed Revelations. The map wasn't too big and I felt like they focused on the important stuff. Who cares about this wanker Desmond, when you just are a fucking cool Assassin.
We thank you all for your hard work. When I first found my love for the elder scrolls I could not find friends who shared this love with me. That has changed thanks to the internet and your videos have helped us all learn facts and gain knowledge about the elderscrolls lore. It's true when I say most conversations I have when people ask a question for me about the lore I simply point them to one of your videos and say this will give you what you want to no and motivate you to go and find more lore and history on the topic you are researching. So simply put thank you all.
This is beautifull!!! I already had the feeling making these Lore video's would take time but the of dedication inspires me. I just want to say to every team member of Shoddycast that they are amazing and I want to thank them. Just... thank you guys, you're the best!
Le Daniel Paler Well you're expression of your "opinions" is fucking stupid you fucking ass (since you like this language it makes you seem very mature), not even one argument just throwing gay in the middle for no apparent reason and then you want people to listen to your dumb-ass "opinions" fuck you and your opinions no one gives a shit about them. Fucking kids these days.
I just want to throw out there if you guys are planning on making a Dark souls lore series I STRONGLY suggest looking up VaatiVidya, that dude has amazing lore videos that could be greatly beneficial to you
Since i found ShoddyCast ive been keeping up on there videos and have even went back to the first episode for fallout and elder scrolls and made sure i watched them in order and love how much work thats put into each one and it really shows.
Mad Props dude!! I do appreciate the extra time that you put into the videos, putting that much work into something is rewarding for i'm sure you and us the viewers. Thank you so much, keep up the good work! ShoddyCast
