would that lorenz attractor thingy work if space/time was quantized? like if there is smallest planck time and space 'pixel', would it have to cross its path at some point, forming a loop?

Good question. I think it would for sure have to cross because the system is bounded (I think), so it can be contained in a box consisting of a finite number of pixels. In that case the system would surely cross itself by the pigeonhole principle.
