We found an old Arrastra out in the middle of nowhere that still had a lot of Gold in it and the High-Grade Ore deposit from the mine was nearby plus a lot of angry bee's.. It was not on any map, and we had to use Google Earth to find it. Along the way we give great examples of what to look for in the field when chasing black sand too so you can find the source of where the Gold is coming from and how to pinpoint its location. I'm in S AZ and 20 years ago, the killer bees arrived. They're very well established in the open desert here. I'm not sure how far north they range now. If there's a large cloud of bees swarming outside their hive, those are probably killer bees. After dealing with them for years now, I've learned most of what you've heard about them is just hype. The truth is, they differ from regular honey bees in the way they protect their hive. Regular bees hang out inside the hive and pour out when something disturbs it. Killer bees swarm around outside the hive and attack anything that gets near it. I've run into many killer bees that are out in the desert foraging, and they're just as docile as regular bees. They only go into killer mode when they're around the hive. So the smart thing to do is just what you did - when you see a bunch of bees swarming around a hole in the rocks, get out of there quick.

Back in the early 60s, a fellow my father was on the Tucson Fire Department with was hunting west of Nogales when he came across an arrastre that might have dated back to the Spanish period. There was a mine nearby, and they evidently were smelting onsite, too. He noticed chunks of blackened metal scattered about. He picked up over 200 ounces of tarnished silver.

Another good oldie ! I know of an arrastra hidden up in the Clark Mountains. Well, intact at the time (40 yrs ago). Removed one of the floor stones and found a few specs. They were following a quartz vein in shale.

I was in quartzite and I saw a quartz vein and was like I wonder if there is gold I followed it up the hill and almost fell into a big ass mine. I guess there was gold in it. I used what you have taught me when looking for stuff.

Jeff find us the Lost lake of gold from the old old books? I watch Sreetips turn gold into solution and I love his channel. Okay I also read some old book from like the 1400's my dad had in the flea market over 40 years ago. It was an Old German book of many interests with short stories almost exactly like the readers digest concept and I wish I remembered the name of it, but I asked Sreetips about the lake of gold? and he said he never heard of this? I again tried to ask him because I know he takes chemicals and turns gold into a liquid. I thought maybe there was a lake of liquids aka a lake of chemicals = the lake of gold but in solution? I also thought that this lake was a pond of sorts? Your the man Geologist and gold pro....what do you think of this old story and was it fake?

Sand bags Made from nylon woven into fabric would be awesome for rocks , maybe seal it with a sheet of plastic, so fine sand(and gold) can't fall out! Like the fine gold Jason got out the box, from a bag he mailed himself back home! Probably lost 5 grams through the post office, maybe I could make some good sand/ore bags miners and prospectors can trust to NOT loose fine gold as they are carried! A nylon cloth like the material a seat belt is made from. This would be awesome and strong, even if it's 10% the thickness!! I'm hoping to get out and mine a bit! I want to build a off road ATV setup just for mining. Able to climb hills and rocks with a micro camper. For shelter, because I'm likely going to be there in winter! And definitely haul water, I'd be planning to go out and stay atleast the weekend, maybe longer. Have a base camp, then roam and possibly camp away from base for the night! On the hunt daylight to dark !!

There's a "modern" arrastra on the road from Mokelumne Hill to Valley Springs. The arrastra was operated by the rancher by hooking up a model T engine and transmission set up to drag the bar around. This apparently operated during the Depression. One thing. A lot of arrastras in California used mercury to build a slurry with the gold in solution. I don't know about AZ or NV.

Jeff in wattle flat western nsw I was going to buy the land to set up a small mining operation slightly illegal since it’s heritage listed but you can dig a dam or dig in a road ect you can see where I’m going with this haha Mate it was before dad had the stroke which stopped me doing it to take care of him and then mum with the dementia but I wanted to ask you.. when I walked down to the creek there was boulders with not apparent cracks which had tennis ball and soccer ball sized quartz that literally looked like it had bubbled up out of the rock They had been removed but I’ve never seen that on any of your videos and I know wattle flat was incredibly rich in gold so was that a rare feature of the area? I had been told it was the richest square 3 miles found anywhere on the earth is that true as well?
