I can still write in cursive but not the best. My Dad can write beautifully in print and cursive; his hand writing looks like the writing you see in cards for sale in stores, but better.

I’m watching cursive and calligraphy videos on u tube and it’s so relaxing. Intend to buy a fountain pen soon. I’ve been using sealing wax on my birthday and Christmas cards and everyone gets so excited when they receive one. Small things mean a lot

I want my kid focused on math and science, reading and math. Not fancy handwriting. She can learn that in her private time if she chooses.

Point people miss. These young people won't be able to read very old documents since most were handwritten. They won't be able to read our Founding documents. Well, the video did mention it.

It's a real shame kids today aren't learning cursive. It's a necessary skill when transcribing telegraph messages. Not sure they'll be able to get a job as a telegraph operator without learning cursive...

0:35 Well those people would be completely right. I use regular writing MAYBE 2-3 times a month & that is just a quick few words for a post it note. Instruction time is limited so important skills need to be focused on. If a student wants to learn cursive, they have the internet. They can learn it on their own time

Really sad … I was child in my 1970s they took the time to teach us but teachers don’t have the time with our new generation of kids , of course it’s the school board and let’s not talk about teaching them the times tables … which is the foundation of math … it’s crazy .. teachers wants you rush your work too… no time to let it sink in to really understand it … I respect teachers but it’s gotten where it’s about the scores and testing numbers for students… good luck teachers it’s not an easy job …

The argument that Cursive helps your brain is very misleading. What helps your brain is writing thing with your hand. Which means writing in print is just as helpful to the brain as cursive is

I had the worse cursive in school. My daughter wasn’t taught it and she actually thinks it’s great. Her eyes never seen enough cursives to be judgmental/critical.

What is the reason to learn cursive when some children in the video were holding their pencils as hard as they can and were bending over their desks that the distance between their eyes and the paper was like 3 inches. This is just unhealthy.

Don't bother trying to read the original Declaration of Independence or US Constitution which were both handwritte n in 18th century cursive. Don't bother looking up original docs about your ancestry either. Many of those were handwritten as well.

@@yvonneplant9434 Oh I'm sorry, I was unaware you read only the original bible written in Aramaic, or the Odyssey in homeric greek, Or gilgamesh in Akadian . your point is obtuse and facetious. Language is a constantly evolving thing. English spoken 6-700 years ago sounds nothing like english spoken today. there were come a time our own language evolves into something we be able to comprehend, and those future generations won't know how to read the original document anyway. Thats why we transcribe things constantly into the modern standard and leaves the dead languages to scholars. Stop holding the human race back in the past.
