No they don't have the ability to turn into a bat, the first scene is just them flying which we see them do only it's shot from their perspective, the noises are just their to give it an eerie feeling they are not bats in this scene & its never implied they can change into bats. The only thing bat-like about them is that they sleep hanging upside down & that their feet are bat-like. They can't change into bats.
Can you do video on Jai Tham and SOng Neng from Vampires: The Turning? This movie may not be a classic, but it was one of the first vampire movies I saw and first story to show me that monster hunting people aren't necessarily good guys.
I was in Infantry School with a guy from Santa Cruz. Shane McMahon. That was 1990 though, a few years after you joined. Thanks for your service Brother!

I think you might of missed a suggested subplot about the grandfather? I think he might have been half turned as well, but seemed to be unaware of who the head vampire was. He obviously knew about the vampires, had fortified his house against them, seemed to be hiding from them by staying out of town and was oddly stern about everyone staying away from his special “beer”. I think Starr proves that a half breed can stay half breed and even make it a controllable state without actually having to fully turn. Though taxidermy is a hobby for some it is indeed odd, but could also be supplying a source of blood to help quench the grandfathers urge to feed that he hides in his special “beer” bottles???
This movie has one of the most legendary endings in cinema history. No romantic goodbye kisses, cliffhangers or terrible puns. Just an old man casually grabbing a beer and complaining about how annoying vampires have always been after taking care of the Lord of the undead and a fade to black. If this is not cinema at its pinnacle, I don't know what it is 🚬🗿
Ngl, the "Vampires lose their weakness if you let them in" rule was honestly a pretty amazing addition to the nosferatus lore that even gave us a surprising plot twist. This is how vampires should be reinvented, Stephanie "Spark Spark" Meyers
A cool concept I heard onetime was vampires but their powers and weaknesses are only active when they have blood in their system and have relatively recently drank some. Otherwise they are a normal human that can age and die normally. So eventually they could age and die but if they want power and immortality they have to engage in immoral behavior by preying on humans. But it also ads a cool factor of now they can hide and participate in normal society and a balancing act. Because if they want to reactivate their power they got to get over the initial hurdle of hunting and drinking from someone as a normal human when they can be killed like anyone else
@@shawn092182 I've read that it's an unspoken RULE that in Hollywood movies.. regardless of the genre.. that you NEVER kill or hurt a dog.. because thru decades of surveys..they discovered that killing dogs is a HUGE turn off for audiences.
That saxophone player was actually a real sax player and he toured with Tina Turner for her Private (edited from Tiny hahahaha) Dancer release back in the 80's . I actually saw him play live when they came to Atlanta
I loved this movie and I’m fascinated with how they portrayed vampiric existence, they could literally fly harnessing the wind and seemingly break the laws of physics on a whim.
@@Mrikeepgettinmoneyagain I first saw this movie, right around the same time I saw "Batman Begins". Because of that, I drew a couple of parallels between them. I always figured that the L.B. vampires were holding out their arms and gliding through the air, similarly to how Batman does in the Christopher Nolan trilogy, with his parachute-like cape. The kids were the best thing about this movie. The Frog brothers are adorably tough, and Sam Literaly eacts to his brother's aggressiveness as if he had caught him having sex in their parents' bedroom. Today's cinema needs children like these in its films more than ever.
The beginning of the 2 Cory's drama is this movie right here. And no we probably don't need more kids to become like them and if you believe Feldman's stories they had been sexually abused.
@@DeathBYDesign666 The beginning of Corey Haim's being SA'd and his initiation into drugs and alcohol began with the movie "Lucas" and his abuse "allegedly" by Charlie Sheen during the filming of it. Please stop spreading misinformation and check your facts before making statements that are not true.
I always thought it was cool that David made Michael see the maggots and the worms in order that he wouldn't believe that the bottle was blood. Really cool.
In the movie "Day Shift" character played by Snoop Dog says at the end "That's what I love about LA: all the damn vampires." i think thats a reference to the grandpa saying "One thing about living in Santa Carla I never could stomach: all the damn vampires"
Got a soft spot for The Lost Boys and its lore. Grew up in "Santa Carla" as a kid, worked at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, hung out at Atlantis comics, it was actually in an old garage pre 89 earthquake, the comic shop in film was dressed up to look like part of the boardwalk. The owner was the hippy dude against the wall. This film had a cultural impact for us gen X'ers and natives of Santa Carla. This film has a great take on vampires. It touched a bit on old mythos while keeping it fresh with a contemporary playful spin to it. Seeing kids on milk cartons and implying they were some undeads hot lunch was a damned creepy but nice touch. If you don't have a physical copy of this film yet, I recommend you buy it. It's definitely worth it. Good story, great practical effects and a memorable soundtrack.
Oh wow that's dope you must have had a fun childhood I always wondered if there hang out was a real place where a hotel fell into the fault line during the old earthquake if so that would be kool
I get that being a vampire is a curse but I kinda prefer it when they can still eat food, it's like it makes them seem more human. Sometimes it makes it even feel like they don't NEED to feed on people but they CHOOSE to which makes them much more chilling. Someone who has to eat babies because of some curse is way less scary than some dude who does it for fun.
@@mrcheesemunch you can eat candy and junk food all but eventually you need real food for sustenance and nutrition. The blood must have some sort of nutrition regular food does not.

It's funny cuz the whole time it was kind of like David bullying a step brother considering that was the whole plan of the master vampire. He wanted to get with Michael's mom and make them family
This movie is perfect and will always be one of my favorites. If they had put a portrait of Max in the hotel, we would have lost that twist. We may have all suspected, but didn't actually know until the end that he was head vampire. But it would have been obvious if we had seen that portrait earlier on. I'm glad they left that as a twist
Yea I myself as a kid didn’t know max was the head, I guessed he might have been but was unsure after the vampire tests dinner, plus David always played the head vampire so well
I always thought David was Max's only biological son. The others were the brothers he's given him to expand his family through the many years they've lived.
19:26 Dude played as Bill in "Bill n Ted's excellent adventure." He didn't reach the success as Reeves but worthy of note for his supporting role in this firm. Too bad his character gets killed before the finale.
That's why he was into taxidermy as well. He was feeding on animal blood. Like Lost Boys The Thirst, when that Frog bro was a half vampire and was doing the same thing 😊
@@weirdoslovemrshelton I thought they became full vampires but developed traits similar to what they first fed on. The tribe looked different because their head vampire fed on a shark, the frog brother fed on rats etc.
Back when The Lost Boys came out, it was so popular because the Coreys were definitely teen heart throbs, but it hurts to know about all the terrible things that happened to them? They tried warning ppl but of course what a lot of folks do to victims, call them liars and ask "Why Didn't U Say Something Before?" Ppl don't think about how those very important/very wealthy ppl, have a lot of power and can make it look as if a star took their own life? Poor Cory Haim, was consumed by it just like others. He used to be my teen crush, and I never could've guessed that he was going thru the same abuse as I did? RIP - Corey Haim 💔
Its been shown in the comic series as well as the book version that grandpa did have a run in but it was with a different vampire. It was the widow who turns grandpa into a half vampire. The bottles he drinks are actually filled with animal blood and it's also hinted throughout the movie that Grandpa is also seen wearing sunglasses in daylight just like Micheal starts to do after he is turned.
One of the most iconic vampire movies of all time and one of the best actors Kiefer Sutherland was amazing as that bad guy in many movies but is so good at portraying them, especially with his dyed blonde hair and attitude, keep up the great work man loved your work for a long time and you always deliver especially since I don’t know a lot of RU-vidrs that cover vampires and werewolves like you do that much and know how to make it simple but also give a good sense of humor
When Michael asked about Murder Capital, Grandpa said "well, put it this way; if all the corpses buried around here was to stand up all at once, we'd have one hell of a population problem" 😅
I don't remember where I read it but the first draft of the script originally has Peter Pan and the Lost Boys being vampire children. Hence, why they never grow old. Peter Pan was changed to David and they were aged up to elder teens/young adults in a subsequent draft.
@ham472 I've seen the song used in a video here on YT, paying tribute to the movie "Hocus Pocus". It's pretty good, given the sibling relationship parallels. (5/31/2024)

Their father, the legendary Jason Miller who is best known as Father Karras in the Exorcist, would later go on to co-star in the 1979 Tv pilot: Vampire with Richard Lynch and EG Marshall. It is the only time that a father and two son's have starred in three separate vampire films.
Yes, the Gecko brothers are a reference to the Frog brothers. There's also a reference to Lost Boys in Reservoir Dogs. Tim Roth's character says something about it if I'm not mistaking.
When Tim Roth is going over his anecdote to make his undercover character more believable, he mentioned that his friends would call him all the time looking to buy weed while he was trying to watch t.v. "I'm trying to watch the Lost Boys!".
I just noticed this but what if the parents of the Frog brothers were also half vampires, they sleep all day right. It would explain why they know so much about vampires.
No no no! Why do people these days always have to bring somebody else into it? The Frog Brothers were fine the way they were in the film. Making their parents vamps or half vamps just adds a nonsense layer to an interesting piece of lore. If your parents were vampires , wouldn’t you want to save them and not stake them while they sleep? And if they were turned after they became parents wouldn’t they want to bring the kids into the “vampire life?” They were just waiting till they got to be closer to adulthood. Because when they turned they would stay that age forever.
@@josebrown5961, I never said that they were vampires or that they tried to bite their children. Maybe they are just like the grandpa in the Lost Boys and lives off the animals who he later uses for taxidermy. Remember that Max asked Michael for permission to get into the house, Michael doesn’t own the house but his grandfather does. Also the grandfather left as soon as he saw Max, like he knew what was going on. It could also be the reason why the parents were still alive because the brothers wanted to turn them back into humans again. I don’t want to change the story in any way, it’s perfect the way it is.
Uh that monster on the Sax is Tim Capello and he can be seen in an amazing vampire music video called “Dark All Day,” by Gunship and he is still ripped.

League is also a classic to me, I totally can see why it was a huge failure, they didn't have enough time for each character and expect you to know the characters in the stories from their books(I know the books so to me it was good).
I love League. I was very familiar with most of the league except Alan, so I was ecstatic to see them cast working together as a group. Of course I would have loved to seen more character development for them individually. I thought their individual story lines were well thought out but not enough time in the film to display all of their attributes to their potential. I did enjoy the plot as well, it was a great idea also. It could have been even better with more time. They packed a lot of information into a small package, likely with the hopes of some spin-offs. I was truly saddened that nothing else came from the movie. I'm sure several people felt that way. I would have loved to have seen some origin stories or character specific movies as a result of League. I will continue to love what I have and there's always hope that one of the characters will be explored further in the future.
One of my favorite movies when I was a kid. I was only three when it came out but I guess my dad saw it in theaters and loved it so so much that as soon as it came out to VHS, he bought a copy for Home. I remember watching it over and over again with my family on VHS as a kid.

I think you're looking too much into the blood bottle. I believe it was used as an easier way to trick people into becoming vampires instead. Plus if Max wanted all other vampires under his thrall without making himself known, it makes sense to use a convenient bottle. Second tidbit that i mention whenever i see lost boys get reviewed. The second film features Angus Southerland, Kiefer's younger brother, essentially playing a stoned version of David named Shane.
The original glittering vampies! They bleed glitter! LOL I lived in Santa Cruz in college and loved walking around the areas where they filmed this movie. It's a classic!
The glittering Part IS by far the least stupid Thing about Twilight. At least If you read the book, she linked the invunerability of vampires to their skin having stonelike propperties, they are cold and hard and Like a Crystal their skincells Break the light . . .Like If you got a slice of Chicken breast, but stronger since the Material IS more stonelike. Another quite bright thought was, that you get vanpires are stronger then older ones, since they still contain all of their own blood! . . AS someone Said, If only she tried for Horror or Action she would BE a way better author

Cogan Lollins, I would love for you to take a look at Vampires vs. the Bronx. It’s a really unappreciated horror comedy that I bet most people haven’t heard of
I came to realize that Spike from Buffy was likely based off of David & Billy Idol. Which is a very good combination. I wish they did do the Lost Boys in its original form with Peter Pan & his Lost Boys as vampires only not as a comedy but as a thriller. That would be such a cool movie for me.
The lost boys. I remember when I first came out I saw it in the movie theater not once not twice, but four times. Yes, I really like the movie. I even bought the soundtrack.
After seeing the movie so many times I believe the reason that the other vampires were able to get in was because Max was already invited in. They never made it clear but that's the only thing that makes sense.
I feel like there's a certain significance to how Max says it, though. "You're the new man of the house, and I'm not coming in until you invite me." Maybe just getting Lucy's invitation to come over wasn't actually an invitation across the threshold, or possibly it has something to do with the statement about Michael being the "man of the house," and it therefore needing to come from him?
Yea you can control certain things within your environment, harness wind to fly use telepathy etc, and walking in sunlight would also be a plus making it way more enjoyable.
the Warhammer fantasy Vampire counts are my favorite world building kind their lore history and the fact they are not connected to chaos gods only necromancy
But I've always been curious I would think even as a half vampire consuming human food wouldn't really give you nourishment, and considering the minute you consume blood you become a full vampire so Idk how star and the kid have survived for so long, or maybe because your half human regular food would keep you alive but I imagine your no where near as strong as a full vampire
I love Bad Moon. It features my favorite dog, German Shepherd vs my favorite movie monster Werewolf. What a PHUCKING fight!! I’d love to read the book but the last time I looked online, used copies were ridiculously priced!
The reason that Sam wasn't featured in the third movie is that the actor, Corey Haim had died by then. Corey Haim and Corey Feldman were acting partners, that's how they got their roles in the film.
I love this movie. The saxophone player, Tim Cappello, is quite famous and returned for a cameo in Gunships song Dark All Day. One of the vampires in the What we do in the shadows movie did that joke about the noodles turning into worms with one of his victims.
I wonder if any of the characters in this story would look back on it and regret not accepting the offer because now they would still be young. The vampires were still able to eat normal food and retain human form, all they had to do was manage the blood lust from time to time.
I absolutely love your content mate. I'm a bit of a vampire fan myself lol. The Lost Boys is up there with the greatest in the genre, and I love revisiting it.
The Lost Boys is a cult classic like Hellraiser. Both of them feature Supernatural Elements and show what to do if you're in a problematic curcumstance as this. For I am 30 Years Old and I HAVE NEVER seen this 80s horror movie. I know its hard to believe but its true. For my Mom actually has a VHS copy of this film in her room but we cannot watch it of course for we do not have a VCR anymore. But it is thanks to you and your review that I now know how it happened. I heard about a theory that if you look at the Lost Boys clothes you can probably guess from which time period they are from. Looking at them now I kind of see that.

Hi Cogan, I just wanted to tell you that your voice is super soothing. You actually calm my nerves when it’s bedtime. I listen to your vids in the daytime when I can’t focus. Thank you very much!!!❤❤❤❤ nuff love my good sir. 🙇♀️
I really love how the actor who played the Master Vampire, Max, portrays the character as a lovable dork. I've always believed the most powerful ability of a vampire is its ability to blend in, pass as human, and come off as non-threatening as possible. Vampires have alot of powers. Super strength, speed, enhanced senses, regeneration, fangs and claws, shape-shifting, mind control, sometimes magic. However, if ppl know what they are, they become very vulnerable. Sleep during the day, sunlight kills them, crosses, holy water, garlic, can't enter a home without an invite, no reflection, etc. Ppl realize what you are, and then it'll go from sugar to shit real quick. Therefore, the most successful Vampires, the ones who can survive for the longest, are not the most powerful or best warriors, but the ones who no one would even think is a vampire even if they know Vampires are real and about. It's a big reason why I didn't like Jerry from the Fright Night remake. Motherfucker just stood out too much. Nothing against the actor, he delivered a great performance.
