In the long grass scene, the main characters didn't necessarily have plot armor. As mentioned in Fallen Kingdom, a raptor can smell a person from miles away. Meaning they were aware of the Hunters before they even reached the Long Grass. But for the main characters, running into that waterfall may have saved their lives. It essentially gave them a quick bath and helped hide their natural scent that the raptors would've normally picked up. But as for the other hunters, they still had their same odor as normal and thus became the prime targets for the Raptors.

Regarding the plot hole severed arm deaths...having read the original book, I assumed that you'd find out later that there was a raptor that snuck on board and was wreaking havoc when I first saw it. Was pretty disappointed that it was never resolved.

Whenever I pass by cornfields or wheat fields, I always recall the overhead shot of the raptors running through the long grass and I imagine one is about to jump out at me.

The script called for a scene where the velociraptors got on board the Venture as it was about to set sail. As chaos ensued, the T. rex also got loose, and killed everything else aboard. This explains why many of the crew members are dead in places the T. rex cannot reach. The scene was never filmed.

Eddie's death was legit the saddest one.

The scene where InGen first appears in the plains, chasin' dinosaurs in their humvees, dirtbikes and other assorted offroad vehicles lives and has lived rent free in my head for the past twenty fuggin' years. Same with the driving scenes of Malcolm's team, it's just pure joy to me.

I love how James can take movies that terrified me and left me with nightmares for years and completely flip them into comedies, revealing how comical the decisions of the people in them are. Ive been going back and watching things that I would shield my eyes from and seeing them as actors playing parts rather than immersing myself in the universe to see their characters. Its helped calm some ancient memories.

About the plot hole of that ship: in the original script for this scene, we were supposed to see that were some Raptors that snuck in the Ship. They would have killed the crew members, jumped off (when realized that the ship was going to crash) and swam to the mainland. But I need to agree, this scene only makes sense when you know the original script.

16:20 Aight, I know by now you've heard this, but it needs to be said, a lil trivia for ya: . . . . Originally the plot included both a T-Rex and a velociraptor on the ship. The raptor escaped and ran amok killing the humans in the little hard-to-reach places before she herself was eaten by the T-rex. Her action scenes were cut but her kills were still left in the movie... thus the severed hand on the steering wheel and holding the cargo release button. Unfortunately, it does render it a plot hole, since a simple line of dialogue would've easily fixed it. "We brought a raptor and the rex!" "There's a raptor too?" "No, we found its remains in the cargo hold!"

Anyone else find the parent and child relationship of the t-rexes kinda wholesome?

this movie is notorious in my household because when I first watched it as a kid, the scene with them using the baby t-rex as bait upset me so much that I burst into tears and didn't stop crying until my parents finally gave up and turned it off.

James' child-like enthusiasm over the dino-capture scene is soo authentic and relatable. It's like he's completely possessed by his inner child.

I’ve never understood the hate this movie gets. I like it almost as much as the first movie.

Screenwriter Dave Koepp, aka "Unlucky Bastard", and his demise is the most powerful moment of this movie for me. It's a chilling set-up; the T-Rex hunting in the middle of the city, and he manages to separate one human from the throng. The T-Rex goes in for the kill, and the scene is so visceral and powerful.

I always found Eddie's death to be sad. He went badass mode trying to save Maclom, Nick and Sarah and gets rewarded by being unceremoniously torn in half by T-rexes. I feel a death like that should go more towards an antagonist.

I've seen the boat massacre pretty well explained before. As mentioned in the film the rex was given drugs to counteract the large dose of tranqs he got hit with, but the crew wasn't sure how much to give him and overdid it. This resulted in the rex waking up and breaking free of it's restraints, and now pumped up on adrenaline from the drugs, began killing / injuring the deck crew. The rex then targeted the people manning the bridge, because unfortunately this ships design (which the camera angle fails to show) has the its bridge cabin being open air, missing the rear wall (which faces the deck directly where the rex was at). This is why the hand of the ships pilot was left on the wheel as the rex grabbed him. It's then theorized that the rex followed surviving crew members down into the cargo hold, and a wounded but alive crewmember still on deck hit the close button before succumbing to his injuries.

I also like how he explains the whole story and not just the kill count

I don't care what all of the naysayers say; I love this movie. Even with all of its flaws, The Lost World JP is a solid film and sequel. Jurassic Park and The Lost World JP are great Sci-fi horror films. Yeah. I said it!

For everyone confused about the two deaths on the boat: The Buck was held in the cage on the deck. Due to the tranqs, it's heart stopped beating. It then got some shots to bring it's heart rate, up, driving it narcoleptic. It punched it's head through the other side of the boathouse to eat the guy inside, and was lured into the cargo hold, and the other man shut the door, likely getting snagged by the Rex before the doors shut.

In the canon lore the Copy's are the most deadly dinosaurs in the franchises.The first book literally starts with a bunch of Copy attacks in the main land and one of them was 3 Copy's got in to a hospital and killed a new born. Also apparently some raptors got on the boat and killed everyone and somehow they got in to cargo hold and they got eaten by the rex.

I have 3 theories on how the crew of the ss venture was killed from least possible to most possible. If you don’t want to read them all skip to the bottom to read the most possible theory. 1. The rex killed everyone on board. In The movie it is said that the rex stopped breathing so they had to give it something so it would start breathing but they didn’t know how much to give it so the rex woke up and killed everyone except 1 person who lured the rex into the cargo hold and sacrificed his life. If you’re wondering how the people steering the boat died, it’s possible the rex might have broke through the other side and we just didn’t see it. 2. A pack of velociraptors killed everyone. Somehow during the loading of the rex on the boat, a pack of velociraptors boarded the ship with them and waited for the perfect element of surprise. They killed everyone on board and realized that they were headed for mainland so they decided to jump off the boat and swim. As for the rex, the same event happened except the rex didn’t kill anybody except for the one person who got it into the cargo hold. This event was in Michael Crightons The Lost World Jurassic Park novel, but never got filmed. 3. The raptors killed everyone on board but got eaten by the rex after he awoke. Then, the rex got lured into the cargo hold by the guy seen clutching the controls and stayed there until they opened it. This theory makes the most sense to me and seems like the most possible explanation of what happened to the crew of the ss venture. I spent a lot of time researching about this, so if you could leave a like and reply, it would really make my day.

I think I recall a scene from the book where Malcolm and co spot velociraptors sneaking on board the ship. Leaving that out of the movie was a mistake. The disembodied hand was probably meant to call back to Arnold's (Samuel L. Jackson) disembodied arm in the original film. Great video as always!

This is my favorite film out of the franchise. I'm mostly unsure why but I feel like it's because it takes "park gone wrong" and turns it into "dangerous forest of death", and also a Trex rampaging through a city is pretty cool too.

Fun fact: when ian asks eddie where is her daugther and eddie says "she's in the tall safe area", it's tecnicly a lie, because the tall safe area needs the wire that eddie uses for lifting the caravan

If I remember, in one of the books they suggested that the crew of the ship were killed by raptors that ended up stowing away on the ship when it was leaving. After that, they jumped off to swim to another island when they got close enough, then passed because of the whole lycin deficiency or whatever it was.

Last year when I found the channel halfway through the scream series and I thought it was another shitty movie critic or something but the kill count series and podcasts and gameplay complete changed me also I didn't like the genre I never saw a horror movie and you've changed me in the last year and I've seen all the movies that you've covered on Blu-ray or normal so thank you James

The jokes about explaining old tech to kids really came home to me yesterday. My 7 year old pointed to the empty phone jack on the wall and wanted to know what that was. I was like, how do I explain what a land line is when he's never seen one in his life? My husband and I haven't had one since we got married 16 years ago! This also comes up when we read the original Curious George stories too lol. The whole concept of a phone booth was v confusing to him.

I remember when I was literally a CHILD , stumbled upon this Movie from my Dad's box of CDs , as soon where the little girl was attacked in the beginning I gotta tell you, I was rooting for the little girl to die cuz' she fed some dumb dinos and wandered off on her own Remembering that moment is making me cringe and asking myself : WTF

I was about 6 when I first saw this movie. My grandmother got it for me since I was [And still am] going through a heavy dino phase. And while I loved the movie, holy shit, did it scare me for a good few months.
