Wow, this special edition really does address the issues of the original: -Gives you a "taste of power" with an opening Rex level that's nearly impossible to lose (this game was rented out a lot and without that level, folks usually never could play as the rex without codes) -The camera zooms out and even turns to show you what was previously blind jumps. -end of stage results show you how much DNA was in that ONE stage, not ALL DNA available for that character.
Oh man, I've never played the Special Edition, they definitely made some things easier to deal with, haha. The nerve gas isn't a stunlock of death anymore. Always found it janky that the raptor can kill stuff like the trike faster than the rex can.
Yeah the Special Edition had some nice features (including the extra level at the start of the game). I hated the nerve gas in the original game, that stuff was not a fun time to deal with as the raptor.
Heh. This showing up in my feed gave me SO many flashbacks. This was one of my favorite PSX games. Also the best Jurassic Park game I have ever seen made. I wish they'd remaster it and make more JP games like this. I mean...it checked off ALL the boxes. 1. Dinosaurs were the stars of the game. (Why so many JP games don't let people play as the the Dinosaurs is mind boggling.) Seriously, playing as Velociraptor & T-Rex was a dream come true. 2. Human gameplay was well balanced between making the dinosaurs dangerous while keeping the player feel in power. 3. The music & atmosphere of each level felt like they belonged in the movies. 4. Dino variety was amazing. I remember spending over an hour using the Compy super jump to bite the Carnotarus. Wondering if it could die. (Sadly it's immortal.)
When I see the dinosaurs and creatures of this awesome videogame, I think inmediately in the Kenner toys, specially, of course, 'The Lost World' toy line: raptors colors reminds me "Snap Jaw" one (and yeah, the ones that appeared in the movie); the human "hunter" reminds me the figure of Dieter Stark; the Pteranodons paint job reminds me the "Steel Beak" one... Just great!!! 👌
Correction, the Pterosaurs that appear in this game are Geosternbergias, they were deleted from the movie, and in their place they put the Pteranodons that appear at the end of the movie! 😅
45:25 - "Oh, it's grabbed onta me!" Love that line! One of my favourite PS1 games, played this game so much as a kid! Can't believe I'm only now just learning about a special edition that fixed the nightmare fuel controls, and added a Jurassic Park T-Rex level! 😮 Also, does the dinosaur at 1:47:34 appear in the game? I've never seen it in the standard edition before, and I wonder why it's in the bonus galleries.
1:49:05 Giganotosaurus should have appeared in this game, instead of Allosaurus, it would be Giga's first appearance in the jurassic park/world franchise!
Could anyone tell me how to consistently reach the DNA in The Way Out, I have tried every way from Sunday and no matter how I pounce off the guard it doesn't register.
Oh man, you didn't get to show the kill animation for the Stegosaurus when you grab it by the head/neck. (An animation where you can also get a significantly large amount of health) FYI, this is one of my favorite games in the entire franchise since I was less than 10 years old, and I have seen some control animations and tricks you can do that you didn't get to show here. I never got the Special Edition or the Sega Saturn version, but I do plan to somehow get those two one day soon. Yes, I still do have it with me (the original version).
