It's a shame it'll be their last gas-powered car, but hopefully it has a long lifecycle. I love the Cayman, but the Emira just feels more special. Surprised to hear that the gearbox isn't as good as the Cayman. But man, what a car. Looks like fun!

I've driven the Emira on track, and I think the gearbox is quite good. It has a bolt-action feel that's very satisfying (and that Lotus people will be very familiar with). It's not as smooth or buttery as something like the Porsche or a Miata but the extra heft to it creates a connection to the machine that feels very rewarding.

It's nice to have driveability options in the engine lineup between the stock 6 cylinder front loader and the 4 cylinder rear loader track version where gear heads are more likely to have a go at grenading the engine. Turbo lag always seems to suggest a track car that won't wash out in the twisties due to a generous amount of ham fisted foolishness so as to be practically idiot proof from the factory before any modifications
