7:12 He wants to share his thoughts and emotions to someone but is afraid that the "one" will reject him for telling them to her. *Note to self*
@CC044
@CC044 3 года назад
5:38 - 6:05 Even though Prufrock is well educated, wealthy, and smart, he believes that others are talking behind his back and could never understand the way he feels. So he hides his emotions never to be shown. Emotions are a lot more complicated than meets the eye. Psychological revolution with Sigmund Freud. *Note to self*
@CC044
@CC044 3 года назад
4:55 Prufrock uses lots of stream of consciousness, from a stray cat being made from the fog, to worrying about his balding hair, it shows he is worried and is not put together unlike someone portrayed in the victorian era. *Note to self*

I don't think that this style of presentation does justice to the poem. This is not what Eliot meant at all, this is not what he meant, at all! I also think that your analysis is not "in depth". How can you talk of symbols without making it plausible that and why Eliot used sysmbols at all and what they were supposed to symbolize? What's the difference between symbols and metaphors or even motifs? And does Prufrock wish he ha a magic lantern? does he not rather fear to be dissected (as expressed earlier in the poem, "pinned and wriggling on the wall")? And does he really address one specific woman? Arms and shawls and skirts and whatnot: it's Woman, with a capital W, not one woman in particular. And so on. Sorry.

nice observation!
@nyashabrown2302
@nyashabrown2302 3 года назад
This is just a theory: But did Prufrock have a reason to go to the party to do something he was afraid to do and end up not doing it because he became distracted by the woman. ; Explanation: He stopped saying "Do I dare" and also said that she made him digress.
