Born July 15, 1958, Russell Ricks was born into a family bursting with creative energy. During his lifelong career as a visual artist, his artwork has been collected through the United States. In the fall of 2015, Russell hung his first major solo show at the prestigious Springville Museum of "Art in Art City" Springville, Utah, where he has also participated in the Springville Spring Salon over the years. His gigantic mural work can be found in some major corporations throughout Idaho, Utah, Montana and Connecticut: Cabela's, Alcoa, Novatek, Inc. and private businesses. Russell is a member of Oil Painters of America and has participated in the OPA sponsored Western Regional Art Competition.
Russell, a father of seven children, married Karen Samuelson, a mother of seven children on November 26, 1999 and together they've formed a beautiful blended family of 14 children and 39 grandchildren so far.
Since Russell's book, "Remember, A Little Boy's Near Death Experience" was published in 2017, the first edition has nearly sold out. His story has been heard and shared across the world, through the technology of print and digital media. Since 2017, Russell has been invited to share his story on many NDE related podcasts and videos.
Russell's hobbies include hiking, horseback riding, camping, doing anything creative, spending time with family, reading and writing.

Thank you so much for your testimony and this platform. GOD BLESS YOU, Amazing story!!amazing. You know, that particular church , although now im baptist, is what got me to know that through Jesus was the pathto the Lord. Funny.. i went my whole life as a christian and didnt get that till witnesses told me about the resurrection and how important it was to get to the Lord through Him. I didnt stay to hear the whole religion. But i didnt need to. That moment i understood. I knew inside myself it was true. Now i do practice baptist i suppose because i listen to the bible. But i k ow that doesnt matter either, its just my place of worship and to hear the word. But really , its all one thing. JESUS. the way, the truth. The narrow path. GOD BLESS YOU

Perfect words what an incredible story. Although I have different beliefs there are so many things we can all come together on. I believe we all have stories and because they may be different doesn't make any of them less true. It must have been so amazing to get more answers in your 50's and to get treated for it.❤ I find myself wondering after reading Raymond Moodys book did you believe in reincarnation? I don't believe we are reincarnated. I believe we come to earth to gain a body and to have experiences with our bodies we couldn't have as spirits. With he lessons we learn here, is all we take back with us when we die. At some point in our existence after death, I believe our spirit form and body form reunite in the resurrection and we will have perfect, immortalized bodies of flesh and bone. I personally believe reincarnation is just a misinterpretation of our sense of existing in heaven before we were born on earth. It's a kind of De' ja vu thing. Perhaps some spirits were close friends prior to coming to earth and served as guarian angels to our friend born before us. Perhaps they remember their friends life story as angels, though claim they were that person in past history? That's my personal belief perhaps there is some reincarnation, especially when it comes to aborted babies who still need to come to earth, but in a new mother's body?

@@russellricksbooks2579 Thank you for your response. I do QHTT Delores Cannon method. Past life regressions so I do believe in reincarnation most the time as I know nothing for sure. I had a shared Death experience when I was 18 & lost my dad. We were in 2 different states and never knew what happened and told very few. That is probably what started my journey. Wow! - so many parallels. In school I once had my left arm tied to the chair and was forever on the outside, looking in - as regards to making friends - dropped out of school at the first opportunity, on my very B-Day. I've heard that some of us come here to learn rejection. If it weren't for a lifelong relationship with God, I'd be in bad shape now! No regrets.

@ChrisZ70 What you may have missed... I believe God gives each of us an experience based from what He perceives we each need according to our personalities and our own spiritual understandings, be it what they may. I didn't use this platform to preach my religion, but to give the raw experience from a small boy's perspective. I also don't criticize other's for their own perspectives. Yes, some NDErs leave their religion after their experience.. For me, the experience God gave me strengthened my own conviction to my Faith and it is the same for some others from other faiths who have had an NDLE.

I bailed at 29:35. "All you have to do is believe in me, follow me." Nope; I don't think so. That is not consistent with the unconditionality of NDEs. I was warned when he said he was a LDS at the beginning. I thought, "What? And you _still_ are [after the NDE]??"

In the context of that comment, I understood he was being told not to be afraid of making mistakes or living an imperfect life, instead just to be good and have faith in Christ and he would be okay. To me that makes sense in light of the LDS church being a high-demand and sometimes controlling and shaming religion. Being told that may have helped protect him during his life. It's interesting though how he mixes Mormon beliefs with his experience. He's not the first person I've seen do that, but it's rare. Most the genuine-sounding ones I've heard, they comment how different their experience was compared to what they were taught in church. However I do think it's somewhat common that people mix personal ideas and beliefs into their NDEs and STEs.

There was no discussion or indication of a reincarnation like some NDE's, but rather a clear hint to pre-existing before mortality. I was a young boy. You don't have an adult discussion with a child, but you speak on a level a child can understand. Christ spoke to me on my level, which comforted me. The gold-looking two buildings in the City of Light were in an architectural style I could recognize and comprehend. These two buildings were the shape of the Salt Lake temple and pioneer tabernacle on Temple Square. How also can you explain why others were confirmed to have an almost perfectly identical City of Light experience and discovered a mural none of us had previously seen before our Near Death-like Experience which had these elements in it? I didn't just insert religious dogma, these symbolic elements were literally a part of my experience to teach me something I needed to know. I don't believe God gives to us an NDE experience we can't benefit from if we can't relate it to things we can't understand. He starts with what we can connect with. I shared what my experience was and didn't add to it.

@@russellricksbooks2579 Thanks Russell for the clarification, this is so fascinating. I hope you can forgive if some of us get a little jaded because of supposed experiences we've heard from other people. I think you're right on that the other side speaks to people on a level they understand and uses imagery and symbolism specifically designed to help that person. I'm not sure I've heard others talk about the same City of Light and mural, but I'll try and pay attention if I hear that come up from others. Seems like the details of many experiences are so unique to each person, yet the messages of love, kindness, faith, purpose, connection, and doing good to others seem so universal.
