The Lovely ACA500Plus

The ACA500plus is a fantastic bit of kit. It makes the Amiga 500 so much more usable nowadays without "overpimping" it.

I love this card - it's a tweaker's delight. The ability to make a CF card with OS3.1 installed in just a couple of minutes is really handy, such a time saver. And then the ability to switch back to KS1.3 and boot ADFs from an external gotek with no messing around. I bought mine second hand with an X-Surf network card and a clear plastic case that I think comes from a german website. p.s. yes to bringing back nostalgia time.... I am nostalgic for nostalgia time :D

I would love to see a hd install of workbench 1.x including setup process.

I have the same revision as You. I bought it Twice. The last revision seems to have more stability in hightest CPU speed (@42 MHZ). I use it without accelerator Card (CPU @14) for more stability with all games. I know only 2 games who aren’t compatibily with that card. Platoon & Galaxy force II. For Platoon game, You can by-pass the problem if You use A500 profil but with CPU 68000 @ 42 MHZ. The creator of this card doesn’t know why but on that speed The game will works correctly with a disk in Your drive. The WHDLOAD installation of that game doesn’t works too. For Galaxy Force II there is an Hardware incompatibility with it... Not at the start of The game but just After selection of The planet. The only way to play that game is to remove The ACA500Plus card. Don’t miss to make the firmware update to 0.141 to obtain The best stability. Except theses 2 problems, it’s a perfect card for the A500. Sorry for my English if it isn’t perfect... Best regards, Pascal

I've had a aca500plus for about a year and a half now, it's a great addon.

I feel the same way. The ACA500+ is a great piece of kit, but the card plus the A500 eats up so much of my desk that I find myself using the A1200 with its internal expansions instead, just because it's so much more compact. Being able to transfer large files from a PC thanks to the ACA's second CF card slot is wonderful, though. Welcome to the ACA club! :)

I love my ACA500Plus, and have to thank you for featuring it in your episode. It is amazing and is by far the simplest way to expand your Amiga 500. Having the ability to use my 512 KB trap door memory as chip memory without any motherboard modifications is wonderful. And their auto workbench 3.1 install to a HDD/CF is brilliant. IndividualComputers did a great job packing so many features into this device while keeping the price very affordable. Not to mention, I received mine just 3 days after placing my order on their website, and I live in the USA.

Sold me on the ACA500Plus. My A500 has a GVP 40 MHz accelerator and it's incompatible and too quick for some programs. This will fill that gap, perfect!

I used to have the Eyetech tower too! Had my A1200 plus an 060 card in there, as well as my PC motherboard. Flipping the power switch would power on both, and then I’d use a KVM to switch between the two machines.

The CF OS Install is Worth It Alone!

A very nice video I got a ACA 500+ with the X-Surf. What I like is you can put a KS rom on I have got KS 3.2.1 as will the 1.3 and 3.1 that it came with, adding may ACA1233n if I want. Getting into the net and down loading to a CF card on the second slot. I did put a heatsink in the CPU to help, I got some plastic standoffs so my 68030 card is at the same high as the ACA 500+. I put the through the holes on the card. You will have lot of things that can be done with it an Action Replay cart all the time.

I’m the same, I have an A4000/060 and a AA3000+. But neither of them hit the sweet spot like my old A500 did. That’s why I had to buy an A500 too!

Damn, this is the first time I really regret selling my Amiga 500, 10 years or so ago... It would have been perfect with this card! Be able to use 1.2, 1.3 and 3.1 is great! I have run Amiga OS from harddisk on 1.3, but only fairly recently 3.1 (Amiga 4000/030 that I switched to from the Amiga 500). Weird how similar it is, and still different enough to look for things all the time ;) Really cool video, thanks! Oh, Retro Shack has a video that showcases (haha) these plexiglass cases in case you're curious!

The ACA500+ is a really nice product. I love having different profiles available so I can swap a CF card and jump between Amiga OS 1.3 and 3.2.1 so easily. Many of them just don't work at 42 MHz. My original one did, but my second ACA500+ will not boot if I push it up to 42 MHz. I guess it depends on the 68000 chip Jens installs.

Your A500 is so clean! After I sat on my top casing I lost the love for it ☹ Plus the keyboard is faulty. I do have all the parts to resurrect it and will use this video as inspiration. Loving the ACA demo but looking to fit something internally in mine since I’m already accident prone. lol

I have an A500 in a checkmate case with an ACA500Plus. Being able to change machine behavior right on boot is a huge plus, I can easily switch between a stock A500 config and my hilariously upgraded workbench setup.

A nice bit of kit i had a cdtv at one point and a hard disk controler that had workbench 1.3 installed and it autobooted no idea who made the controller but it used an ancient mfm hard drive i sold it many years ago and i to had that eyetech full tower with the ppc card a 200mhz ppc with a 25 mhz 040 and the blizzard vision graphics card add on but sold it i got most of the money back the ppc card cost new now they fetch over twice as much so i wont be getting another .

That’s a very old ACA500Plus V1 Version. Use that version with the 2019 ACA1233n-55. Have also the newer ACA500Plus V2 from 2018. The ACA500Plus can do many many more than you show on your video. For the A500 the 68030 is the best card for WHDLoad. Use it only for Demos which I did in the 80’s an 90’s. About the Vampire I believe only in the Vampire V4+ Standalone. That’s is the only Vampire which get the most Core updates and features. For the rest I do a lot with my A1200’s such as the Blizzard 1230 IV and the TF1260. Like the old and the new and the Vampire V4 have did big steps forward this year. Now the most of us would like to see what the PiStorm32 would do with the A1200. Thanks to A1200NET we have a black A500 case and waiting for the black keycaps for it. There is always things to do with our A500/A1200 and the Vampire V4 Standalone. There is also a V4 Ultimate Expansion Board for the Vampire V4 Standalone. My best AMIGA card is always the Blizzard 1230 IV which have FPU and 128MB on it. Like also to use diskettes for new Demos and to install different AmigaOS’s. My first AMIGA is the A500 back in 1988. And it’s still working now. Would be great to use the A1000 which I didn’t effort in 1985. And must buy the Commodore 64 with two diskdrives. Which is also a great computer to use even today.

You've probably addressed this in a past video, but how do you get such a crisp image from your A500 to the monitor? Mine is kind of crappy. Is it an HDMI mod or something like that?

Why Individual Computers sent you older rev 2 version of ACA500plus? It surely looks like one!

is it possible if a friend put MOD files on. a cf card to put it in AUX slot and playback those files without moving to main cf card? like a jukebox of mods
