This is a review of the low-cost, but rather surprising Haetin KK-62 combined pushbutton FM radio receiver and MP3 player.
This is a very competent radio / MP3 player that I bought directly from China via Ali Express with good sound and comes complete with a 3.7V 18650 1200mAH rechargeable battery for a long play time between charges.
I think the colour is such a refreshing change to the normal black or silver that tends to be used and overall is good value for money.
If you enjoyed this then there are plenty of more video reviews of cheap radios from China on my channel along with reviews of some classic transistor radios from the 1950s, 60s & 70s as well as videos on easy video editing tips & tricks using Hitfilm Express.
If you can then please hit that 'LIKE' button for me to help me to keep on learning & growing - that would be appreciated - thankyou!
Many thanks for watching

Hi Rajesh - good to hear from you. This was a very good radio / MP3 player for the money to be honest. I actually gave it to my sister to take to work as she likes to have some music on in the background and she really likes it. You seem to be doing well with your radio collection my friend!

Looks good, mine coming today in post. Use to listen to radio 4 at night. Will it last a week on lowest volume as a bedside companion. Though i use a bigger world radio that is a little loud even at _quietest_ volume. Though it needs retuning often as it is not digital one. Also it does not tell you how much charge left. Does this tell you the charge, though if it does and it has a usb charger - it may work as a bedside sleep companion?😅

Hi, thanks for getting in touch. The battery life really depends a lot on the length of time you use it each night, but I would have thought it would last several nights. However, please bear in mind that the stated capacity of the 18650 batteries that are included with these types of budget receivers tend to be a little overstated. If it doesn’t last that long, you could always purchase a higher capacity 18650 battery, (they are quite low cost). It’s a very low-cost radio/media player so there will be compromises such as a battery indicator, although I agree with you that it would have been very useful! However, they do sound good and for their low cost, (and hear it pays to shop around on Ali Express) they are a useful little set.
@goldenultra
@goldenultra 8 месяцев назад
@@TheWobblyCameraGuy Yeah the battery indicator is a fake one. But I made a music playlist I think you are allowed 8000 songs, so I have my own radio station. But I lowered the replay gain of the tracks from 90db the average volume to 80db only took 15 mins with EZ music converter as my son sleeps above me in my bunk bed and has complained about the noise. So at volume 1 it is very quiet maybe a little louder than a transistor radio. I think the given battery is cheap and lasts 2.5 nights but it is not a big deal as it is easy to charge. Reception is good too even better then my analogue world radio and I do like the sound of it, it has its own unique sound that I am happy with as not a fan of monitor sound. 🌛

@@goldenultra Hi, wow you have been doing a deep dive on this little set. Thank you for highlighting EZ music converter, I will go and have a look at this as it sounds useful. As you mention, it does have an excellent sound for its compact size and it looks like they have provided a decent quality loud speaker for the overall low price of the set. It’s very prolific still on Ali Express being sold on many different stalls so must be a popular purchase!

Thanks for your video. Bought the BJL 62 For less than 10€ in France. Hope your video helps me to choose and memorise on the radio 9 of the 60 channel it found. And something else, each time I turn it off it looks for the channels again ! (10'is needed each time why does it start all again ?) as I didn't pay much for it I suppose it's normal... Or may be not !? Can you help me to use it more often. Thanks for your usfull video. I'll watch other videos and I might buy other products you tested. Thanks and have a sweet day.

Hi, thanks for getting in touch and for your support. OK, so unfortunately, I no longer have this particular radio/MP3 player. (Because I have bought and reviewed quit a lot of receivers, I tend to give most of these to the local hospice charity shop). However, most of these Radio/MP3 players tend to operate in a similar way. So, if I have understood correctly and assuming that your particular player is not faulty, then to store a particular radio station, you should be able to just press the appropriate numerical memory button that you want this to be stored to but, make sure it’s a long press of a second or two. Then if you tune into another station, but then want to recall the previous station from memory, a short press of the appropriate button should cause the radio player to retune to that particular station. This method or storing stations should also apply to the MP3 player part. However, if you remove your TFT card or USB memory stick and insert another, the its probable that that it will lose the location of those music tracks that you had previously stored to memory. It certainly doesn’t sound right that it loses the stored memory details of the radio stations if you switch it off. Maybe you just need to re-try that longer press of the buttons when storing these? Hopefully, you will still have the instruction leaflet that came with it that may clarify this. By the way, if it is written in another language, try google translate on your phone as it should be able to translate directly if you point your camera at it. Please let me know how you get on 👍

How many hours should I keep for charging a new radio
@TheWobblyCameraGuy
@TheWobblyCameraGuy Месяц назад
Hi, thanks for your question. To a certain extent it depends upon the rating of the USB power supply you are using. Typically, if it has a rated output of approx. 1A, then roughly for a 1200mAh capacity battery it would take approx. 2 to 3 hours depending how much charge the battery had left in it. If the battery has been charged and discharged many times, then it may lose some capacity over time. Hope this helps.

How to save preset FM radio station
@TheWobblyCameraGuy
@TheWobblyCameraGuy Месяц назад
Hi thanks for your question. Although I no longer have this handy little media player, (I gave it to my sister) I think what you do when you are in FM radio mode, is to press the bottom LH button (M) for a second or two and it will start to scan through the FM frequencies and when it comes across a radio station, it stores it to memory and indicates on the display the memory number allocated for a particular station. Once it has completed this task, you can then press the appropriate number key to recall its allocated station. If for some reason that doesn’t work, please let me know and I will make some investigations.

Hi, sounds like it may have been pushed in a little too far and has tucked under the edge of the slot in the casing? if you have a very small flat blade screwdriver, (small jewellers type) you might be able to gently lever it back to the slot entrance. Hope you manage to retrieve it

Hi, sounds more like it could be jammed? Again, maybe a gentle probing with a very small screwdriver may free it. Failing that, it might be a case of taking it apart. I gave mine away so I don't know how it is held together but it's normally very small Phillips style screws with usually one or two hidden away in the battery compartment. Worth a go TBH as it doesn't sound very useable at the moment?

I have just had a look at the player on Ali Express and there are accessible recessed screws on the rear cover so it should come apart (again check inside the battery compartment which is where they normally hide one). When undone just prise the halves apart very gently as the wiring to any battery connections or the aerial are normally very short. Good luck - hope you manage to retrieve the micro SD card.

The automatic station finder found some very staticy stations and several I would never listen to. I have to get to the end of thirty something stations to get to my favorite. I know I can just type in the station frequency but I have a hard time remembering it. Does anyone know if you can manually assign stations to position numbers or delete unwanted stations?
@TheWobblyCameraGuy
@TheWobblyCameraGuy 2 года назад
Hi Heather, thanks for getting in touch. Interesting question! As far as I can tell, you can do an auto -scan and the radio will assign a memory recall number to each one it finds, so if you can remember that one or two digit number, then you should be able to recall your station using the numerical keys. However, I am not sure if you can manually assign a station to a specific number. .i.e. assign your favourite station to memory recall no.1 for example. Unfortunately, I no longer have the radio, (my sister is now the proud owner) so can't experiment with it. However, I will try and see if there is a more comprehensive data sheet/manual for it and will let you know if I find out. In the meantime, if any of you RU-vidr's out there have more experience with this receiver/MP3 player, we would appreciate you getting in touch. Kind regards TWCG

@eqisoftcom
@eqisoftcom 2 года назад
Same problem here. It seems it only assigns links (P01, P02, ...) to stations automatically during the auto-scan when you press M/O button. It searches for stations with a strong signal. That means, if you place your radio somewhere else or play with the antenna, different stations can be found and, consequently, different numbers will be assigned to them. However, if you do it once and know where the radio will always stay, you are fine. It's a shame that you can't do it manually by yourself.. Another issue that I have with this radio is that there are crackling sounds when the signal is not strong. But the radio is cheap, we can't expect much.

@@eqisoftcom Hi, appreciate you sharing your experience using this little set with everyone. I think your last comment kind of answers some of our questions, in that for the money, it's a decent sounding radio, MP3 player combo. However, I will keep searching for other similar sets and upload video reviews on these, so maybe we can find that 'ideal' combination that we are looking for! All the best TWCG

Bonne chance.

Hi, thanks for getting in touch, sorry to hear of your problem. However, before you send it back may I suggest you try a USB memory stick, (or SD card) with a smaller capacity first? I had a similar problem with another radio / MP3 player and was using a 64Gb SD card which the MP3 player wouldn't read. However, when I used a smaller capacity card (in my case 16Mb), it worked fine. It might be that this radio uses a similar interface and struggles to read the higher capacity storage mediums. It might be worth a try? Let me know how you get on . Kind regards TWCG

Hi, thanks for your feedback. Although I no longer have this radio/MP3 player, I don’t recall any issues with the volume so either the design has changed since the time of my review or you may have a faulty player? The reviews I do are for items at the budget end of the market as not everyone can afford the higher priced versions, so you have to accept some compromises and I just try and give an honest review given their low entry price point. I’m not that old (I hope!), but maybe it’s how I was bought up as I remember my father having his Ferguson transistor radio on whilst he was working in the shed. Is it a generational thing? maybe.
