For real, during the preshow when bro started playing all that new bs music I knew he was going to be a problem on Dipset end when the actual show started.
We watch verzuz to hear old songs lol so aging ain’t a problem in nostalgic settings. Dipset ain’t prepare at all. They had a lot more songs they coulda played smh. The Lox gave us that energy. It felt like a concert
One of favorite part (except for the who shot ya freestyle) was when Dipset played "Welcome 2 New York City" and right after Jada hit them with "New York New York" which was a way harder track. That was a perfect counter attack.
You can try to be too cool to the point of corny, I feel like Dipset was trying to be too damn cool and The Lox came out to Battle for real! Playing your records with the words is a huge no no for me that is exactly why I don't watch the BET awards and shit like that.
The DJ has the burden of playing each and every fan's personal favorites in the perfect sequence round for round. In a battle, the playlist is important, maybe a more important factor than the actual song.
Dipset lost from showmanship and rapping over their vocals. Dipset had a time period and Lox never had a time they just stayed consistent through the years and everybody else run. Dipset couldn’t adjust on the fly Kiss had the energy it was like battle rap bars be dope but the other guy got the room with shit ppl feeling after that freestyle Dipset should’ve started rhyming over instrumentals and once the Lox did the girl songs Santana should’ve came back with his Chris Brown joints. The problem was the set list
Lox definitely had their moment in hip hop, Ruff Ryders moment still lives on to this day. I get what you’re saying but when Lox is played against Dipset, Dipset hits don’t hit as hard because of substance
@@hardworkingcriminal4873 for Hip Hop just that New York late 90s early 2000 s yeah for me I loved What E40 and T Short done, but the Garden Lox Vs Dipset that’s History Fam
@@hardworkingcriminal4873 you don't understand the culture then bro, if you feel that way! This literally was the next biggest moment in hip-hop bro goes all the way back to the beginning to the DJ parties you don't understand bro this was not only the best, this is now just become the standard bro hip-hop or die, like Dipset just did LOL
The Lox been out since the beginning of bad boy Then the beginning of the Ruff Ryder era for niggas to not have the lox winning is bogus and kiss is one of the first rapper with the punchline style of rap
But Dipset had the game in a way the Lox never did they had their own sound and was influential. Lox have more cause they worked with more ppl plus they might only have a verse on the song so they switched it up and did 3 records at once. Jada made the bars count tho that Who shot ya freestyle was epic
@@HoweyJR_ that may be true but be honest, Majority of Lox music aged better than most. Dipset music hasn’t aged well and when played against groups of substance. G Unit on the other hand is a different story. That would be a battle for Wutang to claim best rap group
The more Lox songs played, showed how low of substance Dipset had throughout the years. I remember the movement but lyrically Dipset was 🗑. They just brought a style and movement to hip hop that we were missing since Wu
camron was the only nicest in the group, juelz was always an abc rapper and jim was below average, they just had dope beats. Also when we think of dipset, we think of 40 cal, hell rell, jr writer, unkasa, amafia, tom gist, purple city, the senate, taliban. which were all responsible for their dope mixtapes. i wasnt trying to hear no juelz or jim on the mixtapes.
One thing people forgot about the Lox they from the school of bad boys all bad boy artists are very polished regardless of the hardcore to the commercial very well polished crew
I'm from Brooklyn. And I know these Harlem cats is all flashy, gear matching and clothes is new fashion. We grimey on BK with Tims and just bars for cats.
Great interview. So basically, you think the songs Dipset performed sound dated and didn't work as oppose to the Lox. But, those are the songs the audience want to hear and expect. I don't think the audience would have been happy if Dipset did not perform those songs. I don't see what else they could have performed. A better arrangement of the songs and more creative performance would have helped Dipset. All that being said, I see it as a win for Hip Hop. A classic show.
Personally as a dipset fan there could have been better songs they could have done… also I really believe in having songs in order to make the whole show more potent… everything goodz said it’s what killed dipset. The DJ as well. Why Camron ain’t perform family ties? That song created Genius. Jim Jones didn’t perform emotionless… Juelz ain’t perform no rewind or any of the can’t feel my face joint or make it work for you
@@kevinbarahona6756 Kevin I agree with you 100% on all you said. I really think they didn't prepare for this. I believe they felt they were the home team in MSG and there was no way they were not going to come out on top. I'm a dipset fan and always have been. I always thought Jada was dope and liked him more so than the Lox as a group. I'm still a fan of Dipset. A not so great performance isn't going to change that. That's not a fan if I let this show change that. I hope they do what you just said going forward in terms of picking better songs and performing them in good order. Have a good sound system and a skilled Dj that knows their music. And more importantly, work together as a team. I think they'll learn from this. They haven't been performing as a group in a while. They just got to regroup and better plan. I'm definitely not counting them out as I see many are doing.
That’s the vibe it just didn’t work. Dipset more getting money go out being fly music so they tried to show up and stunt but Kiss got so much personality it didn’t work.
@@thebest12700 word I hate that ppl acting like Dipset music was the problem it was showmanship and their performance. Lox prepared better imagine after the Lox did the girl records Jones does Baby girl than Juelz does Run it and Back to the crib
@@worldnewz6963 facts, yea dipset music is timeless! i listen to it almost every day. and they have recent heat. jones albums been crazy and cam went on that run with vado and they dropped like 6 super fire tapes in just a couple years.
@ Lowblow Champ -Dip music is trash!! Those wack @$$ bars ain't age well & showed their mediocrity compared to the LOX songs/trash. If you think that garbage is still hot, then we know how horrible your taste is. 😩
@@missceebrownin yea I think cam was not motivated because of the low pay him and swizz was going back and forth on social media nd swizz put da amount out there it wasn't enough for it to be madison garden he should of gotten more then that
@@taysmith9321 I didn't see that! Cam should have just not done it if he weren't gonna put his best foot forward, it just made them all look bad. The Lox are elite in performance compared to dipset 🤷🏾♀️
I said the same thing this wasn't a solid business move plus they going on tour together this can go 2 other ways the fans might come just to hackle you or its not gonna sell like that yea even if they made it debatable it would of have all they shows sell out 🤦🏾♂️as the title of jim jones album wasted talent
Freaky made dip set look real clownish. I know he was having fun but his mic wasn't even on, wasn't doing background vocals, moving weird. He added to the L.
Dip Set has always had more New York type records. What I mean is Dip Set records have always been more popular in their area. LOX records have always been more worldwide. Just bigger records than DS. Just check the types of features they were playing. J Lo, Mary J, Biggie. Not even close as far as quality of catalogs.
@@sonyafreeman2295 Both kane and Cool J got lady joints, battle rhymes and party joints. Krs and chuck can just verses their fresh and south more albums.
The problem is that jada and style are mc with bars and lyrics after all the winner was jada and New York City jada really showed this generation what real street New York hip hop is!!!!!HIP HOP IS WORLD WIDE BUT THAT NIGHT JADA REALLY SHOWED THAT STREET HIP HOP BELONGS TO NEW YORK CITY
Chemistry also. Dipset don't fuck with each other and whoever had dipset to win is crazy. We talking about #barrz and the streets.....Not jewelry and clothes.
Let's be real. This had nothing to do with just bars and streets. This had to do with preparation, lyricism, performance, and delivery. They checked all of the boxes.
@@jaylow57 Did you see the crowd? Cam got barrz, jada got barrz, sheek got barrz, styles got barrz.......Juelz and jim didn't show up and as a group, Dipset didn't show up. And yeah you're absolutely right about the performance, delivery and everything else .
@@onlyking2824 I agree. But the Lox had the complete package, which made it look really bad. Cam did everything he could do, though. Including that whack ass freestyle where he choked and got boo'ed. Cam earned my respect.
Idk why people have failed to take into consideration that Kiss had done a versuz with Fab, so he had an idea of how to do the lineup of songs. On top of that, Swizz is damn near their family, so I’m sure he gave the Lox advice on how to win. Dipset came playing games, like we got hits so we good. But after what happened, I bet you’ll never see anyone from Dipset do another versuz again. Looking back at it, Lox should’ve battled G-unit because the Unit has recordsssssss…. Not 20 years worth like The Lox, but they got industry hits as well as mixtape smashes.
This is the 1st time I heard from someone else’s mouth about some matches that make sense because I always said Chris brown & drake & 50 & Kanye & Pharrell but yeah those will b epic
Dipset should’ve had more showmanship had cam come out in the pink on some point and Juelz should’ve been took all those heavy coat stuff off when he did his part going in on the lox with the jersey and bandanna
Chilla not from NY so he dk no better. And Goodz from Uptown. I swear Uptown niggas the only ones who thought Dipset was gon win. Anybody in they right mind, knew D Block was winning‼️🔥💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
I'm from Louisiana and KNEW DAT FAM!!! Who can go tit for tat with Kiss? He a battle rapper FIRST!!! I knew this wasn't gonna be a chance for Dipset!!!
Should of been mobb deep vs lox man r.I.p Prodigy…. I know ima get killed for this but I was never a fan of dipset back then. It was biggie, jay, mobb deep, jada for me they was cool but I didn’t like how dipset rhyme even 50 everybody love their shit
Drake would have to battle lil Wayne, drake is the new king of hits but lil Wayne catalog is 3 decades deep full of hits.. 50 can’t fuck with Wayne I’m sorry, maybe fat joe or puff daddy lol naw him vs game would be hard tho
@GoodzDaAnimal That Verzuz was a 30 clip for the LOX Clear. Honestly in the past Dipset never did it for me. So I knew coming in that the LOX was going to clearly destroy them. Yea Dipset had a couple little hits hear and there. But today I don’t remember them and those songs wasn’t impactful for me the way the LOX music still touches me today. (PAUSE)
The heatmakerz was in the building with Fat Joe and he should have been on the stage with Dipset that's all I'm saying big out to the loxs love both groups I'm happy that they won but that was the difference I think it would have been a little different
