Ah yes, my bad :> I forgot that its the HZ. Good thing that I didn't mess that up in a reveiw of one of the big boys, the ESP, EII or Edwards. I am glad you liked t he video :>
@@GeorgeVGuitars I noticed there wasn't a battery cavity. Does that mean passive pick ups don't take a 9v battery like active ones do?? I'm receiving this guitar today. I'm going to be the happiest 12 yr old girl in the world. Lol
@@Sl33zytheclown You go queen 🖤. No, passive pickups don't have preamps in them and don't require a 9V battery. It was my mistake calling them active because I am so used to EMG making active pickups. The Alexi comes with passive pups and no battery.
I got my Alexi-200 from a pawnshop for $199.98 including tax about year and a half before Alexi Laiho passed away. Mine has EMG-ESP LH-300N Pup in it. Back then it retailed for $499. Really crazy to see it cost $300 more now and not even give it a better pickup.
its always cash in day when a Endorser dies. Ask Jackson and Randy Rhoads ;). Or former Dean and Dimebag. And guess what ESP will charge when someone from metallica passes away. Alexis best days were over. Younger metalists are not especially common with him. Everyone who started playing metal in late 90s to 2010 knows him. And the guitars increased in price hard. Not only due inflation. ESP raised hard, used ones, especially the first ones like the pink or originally "Wildchild" black yellow one, in a usable state are expensive af. Also the ESP versions because most people bought LTD without the original speccs.
@@metaldemonseanknels to be fair that "pawn shop" thing is not that big in the eu, where most of the laihos were sold ;), We have ebay. Best bet is to get one used in finland, sweden or norway. Maybe germany, where many COB fans live.
I bought this guitar last May, i'm 6'2" and I find it fits me better than King V's do. This is definitely not something a 12 year old girl should have. The Floyd Rose tremolo is incredibly annoying when you have to retune it (but sick when you use it)
Damn, 6'2"! Leave some chicks for the rest of us will you! Thanks for the info man, I think other people prefer it over the King V shape as well. that is good to know.
Thats exactly it. I love alexi guitars. Want a alexi 600 but they are like 1600 now which is ridiculous. I would rather buy a LTD Arrow which is basically the same exact shape plus that whole in the middle of the V.
I have an alexi 600 greenie and the newer hexed. I bought the greenie when they were still 1299 but the hexed jumped up to 1649 before my pre-order even shipped. The arrow is awesome, especially in violet Andromeda but something to keep in mind, the alexi 600s ship in the esp factory hardcase, which is a ridiculous $299. So if you buy an arrow and a case for it, you're roughly in the same ballpark price wise.
My first Floyd Rose was my last lol. Fixed bridges for me from now on. Once I discovered alternate tunings and different gauge string combinations I was done with tremolo bars.
I have a very important question. The 600 vs the edwards... which one would be better? Is it the 600 so expensive due to the fact that is a signature? because they kind of have same price?
The Edward's. All new alexi Edward's models now come with his setup too. They ditched the Seymour Duncan black outs for the emg fh2 pickup with the mm04 preamp booster that's in alexi's guitars. They now come with the frets 20-24 scalloped(the Ltd hexed is the only Ltd Alexi model that has those). Only difference between the Edward's and the ESP version of the guitars are its a floyd rose 1000 instead of an original, and I believe the tuners are different but of the same quality as the ones in the ESP model(I'm assuming it's just a part that easier for them to get in Japan). You gotta look for the newer ones though, the old scythe and original run of his signatures have the old Edward's setup, but pinky, blacky, greeny, and the katakana I believe have all been updated. Just look for "made in 2021"
Hi. I was thinking about buying this guitar for my first (but I've already been playing for a month on a guitar that I borrowed from my friend). After watching this video I changed my mind. Would LTD KH-202 be a better choice? I problably will not use floyd rose until I learn some solos, but should I lock it then? Would palm muting make the bridge move and detune my guitar? I don't mind tuning it daily, but is it really that hard to tune floyd rose?
Yeah the KH is a much forgiving shape - Superstrat. Get one and lock it. Its bot hard to tune if you lock the Floyd. And when locked you can drop tune.
I really just want to know how good the neck is on this guitar , there's one for sale around here and I'm thinking about it. I have an RR24 made in Japan from 2007 , I wonder how the neck would compare ? The one im looking at is also the same as this but made in china
Its a nice guitar if the strings dont break. I have one from 2009 for €400 with ESP tuners. I believe these guitars where specially designed and build for D standard tuning. I took out the string lock blockers from the floyd rose and locked the strings with the string ball. I cannot think of a bigger nightmare than setting strings on this guitar in E standard setting and back to D standard.
I feel sorry for the little girl especially the first day she's going to have to change the tunning. Or when she pops the e strings for abusing the Floyd.
I just played one of these. The pickups are so so. I didn't know it was a Alexi guitar. I liked the Kramer SM1H and a Baretta with JB pickup for metal sound.
Your comment of that guitar being too plain to be Alexi signature is a comment I agree with. If you compare it to rest of his signature models. Maybe he didn't even know this guitar existed and ESP just did a cheaper model without his knowledge.
Had a floyd rose guitar at a younger age figured how to set it up myself and anyone can have a floyd blocked a music store should block it you can make or buy blocks for the floyd rose cavity and be perfect
The 8 gauge strings would of been better for a beginner. I use 8 in standard and it's so much better for bending and vibrato. Heavier gauge is good when you're tuning down.
the basic issue with all those "signature guitar models" is the fact that, if you go for a floyd system, you are gonna pay approx 1500+ maybe sometimes even 2000bucks and in the end of the day, they giving you "most of the times" a special floyd rose system which it doesnt costs more than 100bucks (brand new) and the thing is that in the near future if you want to replace your saddles with new ones it would be IMPOSSIBLE to find the components...i would rather pay 1000bucks for a guitar and having a decent floyd rose, than paying 2000bucks for a guitar and having a complete disaster FR
Arrow-200, EX-200, EC-256 etc. are all set-neck guitars, why is Alexi-200 a bolt-on? I'd much rather a set-neck or a neck-thru guitar with the original Alexi style, Alexi-200 has the lower wing longer than a normal ESP offset V or a Jackson Rhoads. I'd buy Arrow-200 instead of this if i wasn't looking for an Alexi tribute guitar. I guess I'll buy this thing put pinstripe stickers hang it on the wall and never play.
@@thrashefe3523 The Edwards are probably better than the 600 judging by other Edwards guitars that I reviewed. The 200 is probably a Bolt-on because LtD had to cut costs somewhere because of the bridge.
@@GeorgeVGuitars That's weird, Alexi was a lead player it doesn't make it easier to solo with a cold ass neck plate touching your palm, if it was a set-neck with a cheap floyd rose you could just replace the floyd rose and have a nice players' guitar
Its sad the father didnt listen to your advice. She needs a tremel-no to block off the Floyd. If not tuning instability will likely cause that poor girl to hate guitar because it's impossible to play anything that sounds good because she will always be out of tune at least slightly. She has already or will soon loose interest and never play guitar again unfortunately
Yeah I wouldn't even bother with the tremol no, because it costs extra money and I'm gonna have to charge them to install. There are cheaper solutions to block it. They haven't showed up for strings yet, so my guess is that the guitar is collecting dust somewhere.
@George V Guitars Good point. At least you tried and did the best you could in the situation. You had the best intentions but unfortunately you can't convince a parent to do something when they are completely uninterested in even hearing your input. Still a cool video either way. Thanks!
@@GeorgeVGuitars I listened to bands like avenged sevenfold, cob(obvously), metallica etc. Is this guitar good for playing those band's songs. Can i get a similar tone to them with a bit of tweaking?
Folyd rose special is better to change as soon as posible but there are problems, first of all locking nut on most shallers an originals are 41.8mm(maybe) and on this guitar locking nut is 42mm. Second, if you want to find floyd rose 1000, its so fucking hard to find it especialy for me because i am from croatia(europe), and buying only nut from US and paying much more for delivery....hell nah better kill me but im not paying for only one part of floyd. So I will buy hexed model, for me is better choice then later suffer because of guitar.
