My fave western when I was 11 years old. Now I`m 51 and it`s still my fave. Fantastic soundtrack with a beautiful melody. I watch this western once a year. I never get tired of high quality. Zeb Macahan rules !

Absolutely loved this series when it was on. That very last clip was a great example of what happened to anyone who attempted to mess with Zeb McCahan.

Holy crap. Was not expecting this. How The West Was Won indeed! I’ve heard there was a TV spinoff of that movie, but knowing how indigenous people thought of it, this was the best way to open this show.

I watched all episodes too, being a kid in the Netherlands at that time. Zeb and Luke were my favorite characters

Also in Denmark. Macahans, Centinnel, Dallas, Dynasty and Falcon Crest were TV-series that everybody saw in the late 70s-early 80s, together with criminal series like McCloud, Colombo and Kojak.. Very good memories from my childhood.

If you are going to watch this series which I do recommend you must find and watch the original pilot (not provost Marshall). The ORIGINAL pilot also aired one year before the official series started, was not named "How the West was won" and is the true origins of the series if you want to get the whole story and understand some key plot points through the series first and second seasons. Correct me if I'm wrong but they ought to fix the mix-up with the series and the original TV pilot - which is extremely confusing if you're trying to binge this series. Just remember: the Macahans appears to have been a TV movie and was continued with most of the cast in the official season 1 one year later from what I understand. These episodes are one hour and 40 minutes each until you get into season 3 so there is quite a bit of content to go through. I'll tell you what though: if you do manage to hook it up right and do watch the original TV movie ( The Macahans) first before provost Marshal (which was the pilot of season 1) you're in for quite a treat. Everything about this show blows me away: there is true loss, there is fear there is anger, there is love and happy and not so happy endings... Most of all I'd like to finish this with one word: Zebulon You know Zeb, if you would just stop takingr off a bunch of crappy stuff probably wouldn't have happened but then again I guess that's what makes you Zebulon. I don't know how he does it: he still takes off and ends up fixing everything anyways... So I'll say it again ZEBULON Great show just make sure you really watch it in the correct order and ignore what the streaming services say you must watch The Macahans FIRST, and believe me when I say this it is well worth it.

La mejor musica para contarnos sobre la Conquista del Oeste, por parte de los pioneros conocidos después como Americanos. Sin embargo, Los Españoles habían conquistado y colonizado el oeste californiano, casi 200 años antes

Metaphoric and poignant, however the US Regular Army didn't do such attacks in the 1860s/70s or before. Territorial and state militias did at times. The regular army condemned those attacks as against policy and disruptive of any negotiable peace. Such an attack as this was carried out in Colorado by Col Shivington from Mancato of the Colorodo Territorial Militia. US Army cavalry and foot columns that were to support his attack, refused to engage once they saw Sand River was a simple refugee encampment of old men, women and children. The Army censured Shivington, and took away his ability to command professional troops. The event was dramatized fictionally in Centennial, but was pretty accurate to the military witness accounts of the two regular officers who refused to engage and it was horrible. As to the Territorials, recall that the warriors would commonly make war on such non combatant settlements and homesteads of white families as it was their way of tribal conflict for centuries. Revenge raids on the opposing tribes and any life would pay for a loss of life on their side had been the warriors ways. It eventually worked both ways after such raids. Finally the 7th Cav, a generation after Little Big Horn would make war upon a village of non combatants mixed with warriors and kill many at Wounded Knee late in the century. News reports of Wounded Knee would cause a sudden change in public opinion and bring the Indian Wars to their eventual end. The real history is much more interesting than the fiction however. "We should ALL be sick this day!"

Bull shit! General Amherst put Small Pox in the Blankets and gave it to our Native Brothers and sisters, poisoning the Indians water and slaughtered the Buffalo, it was a military operation to wipe the Native Americans out.
