Hey everyone.. Few things to note after this video! 1st: This happened today 2nd: I could still see Villains land being potentially way back where everyone thought it would go, if its MASSIVE 3rd: The fun for everyone ride at further look seems to be a first of its kind and not a maters junk yard (which is a MASSIVE W) 4th: Enjoy, feel free to comment whatever
Hi Kyle, I think the mountain section is the thrilling cars ride, and the one in the middle is the family/kiddie cars ride. I thought they said it would be 2 rides but maybe I misunderstood!
I love Tom Sawyers Island. It's a calm, quiet place in the midst of so much activity. Cars should go to Tomorrowland, possibly replacing the Speedway, and Villains should be behind Fantasyland because it fits best there.
Hey Kyle, You might not have been to Tom Sawyer's Island For long time but remember, not everything in the park is made for you. It's a place where the young ones can run around and explore after standing in lines all day. I explored the island when I was a child and my children did as well.
Who goes to Tom sawyer island it's empty empty empty every time I go and I love it and I go but it's always empty. Kids don't care about tom sawyer or nature it's the truth.
To lose the heart of Frontierland is to remove party of the heart of Walt Disney World. I first visited the year it opened, at age seven, with my large family. Liberty Square, Frontierland and all of the detail, nostalgia and history would be lost, and I'm already actually grieving it. I've studied the Disney Parks my whole life. Tom Sawyer Island provides mystery and intrigue, a quiet place where small children can run around with their young parents. There's plenty of space beyond the existing Frontierland. They should build the cars attractions there, not remove an essential part of the final park that Walt Disney envisioned.
Not happy about this at all. Losing Tom Sawyer Island (and, by extension, the Rivers of America) will destroy the theming of both Liberty Square and Frontierland. They might as well start calling all the lands "I-don't-know-what-land." Oh well, I was looking forward to at least one more visit to the Magic Kingdom, which I've loved since it first opened, but now I think I'll just bask in the memories and save lots of money as well.
Disney fans should not be happy about this, Rivers of America and the Tom Sawyer island are iconic. There's enough space adjacent to MK to add new attractions without taking away from the ones that exist. Disney makes this work at Disneyland why can't they do the same at WDW.
Great? Exciting? Are you kidding? Did you hear that beautiful steam boat whistle as you walked toward the dock? They are destroying the whole vibe of Frontierland and Liberty Square.
@@Golfer5824 Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I just can't believe that he is being genuine. Another RU-vid family I follow declared TBA "Better than Splash."
@@jenb-h6t why would you follow a family that says Tiana is better than Splash?. It’s no contest. Splash Mountain was iconic and they got rid of it due to the pressure from social justice warriors. At least they still have it in Tokyo.
@@zarajenkins6948 seriously? Evolving to what? A hodge podge of overpriced rides and stores, with excessive deferred maintenance?Disneyland was Walt’s vision of celebrating America. From Main Street to Liberty Square, Frontierland and the Rivers of America on to Tomorrowland. Haters want to do away with that and “UnAmericanize” Disney, and use it to push its political agenda. They tried that with their films and lost billions. Why? Because the vast majority of Americans don’t want to be preached to. Going woke isn’t evolving.
Because he’s one of the newbies who doesn’t understand anything about classic Disney magic. It’s not only that he has to kiss his ass to Disney to get his perks. UNSUBSCRIBED.
If you are a true Disney fan, then you wouldn’t want the river area to go away. Its not going to be a great big beautiful tomorrow. Just a noisey concrete nonmagical park.
😂 this is the funniest comment I've seen all day...there's nothing concrete about this expansion....at least it's not a vast expanse of boring water that nobody uses
I wish they would keep the water - even though we haven’t been to Tom Sawyers island the view of the water has always been a peaceful view in the middle of such a busy place.
Wasn’t it Walt Disney’s idea in buying so much land in Florida, so that the Disney parks could expand with new rides and experiences? It seems like the Disney powers that be think they are dealing with an area like the California parks. In expanding the parks they would spread the crowds out so that Disney parks would not be such a structured job to navigate, but spontaneity would return and they would go back to a relaxing enjoyment of the Disney experience.
Covering the this classic area of Frontierland will be undoubtedly the biggest mistake Disney will ever have made. To put cartoon cars is HORRIFIC. BAD BAD BAD For Kyle not see how horrible that is is simply because he doesn't really know what classic Disney magic really is. It's not about Tom Sawyer island's low demand That's ridiculous to say.
Actually the more I think about it the more I think Disney is making a HUGE mistake with this one. Not that they needed to keep this area the exact same but I really think this is going to impact the magic kingdom vibe more than they realize. The nostalgia and Walt Disney connection is a competitive edge they currently hold over Universal and this area was one of Walt’s favorite contributions to the MK.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m looking forward to all the new additions to the parks! I just think they could have improved and preserved this area in a much more creative way. This just seems wrong to change it so drastically, especially an area tied so closely to Walt’s original design for the Magic Kingdom.
@@iam7218 this part seems more like an after thought then something with actuall plans. I'll wait until something actually happens to believe it and not what any RU-vid channel or Josh said. Josh can only say what he's told to say and it can mean absolutely nothing.
Alas, unlike us true Disney fans, very few of today's visitors care about the "Disney Vibe" -- it's all about staying current with what incoming visitors will want. It's a shame we can't have it all.
I've been visiting Disney since 1971. I'm really sad to hear that the river boat won't be there anymore. I can understand changing things but why not change the very outdated things that you see on your river boat ride. I think looking at the water and taking the bridge over to Thunder Mountain when it was really hot outside was nice break from the concrete. They have tons of land why not add on the other side of the railroad? The river boat is a piece of Americana that you don't see just anywhere. It was something that I was able to take my ageing mother on with her wheelchair. I haven't been to Tom sawyer's Island for a long time because it wasn't always open. They could have made that more interesting instead of destroying it for another ride. WE SEE CARS everyday of our lives, we don't see river boats that often. I'm very disappointed at the lack of creativity on incorporating something new with the water way. It's always been a peaceful area as you mentioned in the video. The price of the park and changing hours I would think has caused families to not go as much. I could be wrong, but Disney was always the family place, the other parks have different themes. Don't turn it into just an amusement park. Don't lose the charm please.
True / real disney fans should be sick over all the destruction of legacy areas / assets … we all want More and new creations but not at the expense of losing what made disney great …. You will not be able to share those memories with your young sons and daughters … better get all your pictures now …. Might as well stick a few more high price bars and gift-shops in … good way to make $ with less investment
The Magic Kingdom should be left for the nostalgic, original rides and classics. I feel li feel like anything Pixar related belongs in Hollywood Studios.
This is a horrible placement!! It feels like they are stuffing it into Frontier Land in order to force it to make sense. If they would place that beyond Big Thunder that would spread out the theming a bit and let it slowly breathe into the different parts of Frontier Land. But taking away ANOTHER original thing just feels disrespectful in a way. Plus what you said, think of the noise and the congestion in that area!! Stupid and very short thinking. Now if they thought this out a bit they can use that waterway as a way to transition into Villians Land. Slightly extend the river, have a transition into darker elements and have another entrance into Villians via boat. You can use Ursala or Captain Hook as the transport into the darker area. This would also help with congestion on the walkway into Villians Land from what everyone is guessing will be my Haunted Mansion. All they have to do is think bigger and more long term. Does Tom Sawyer take up people, no but it gives a break to some people who need a calmer atmosphere that the island and the boat ride brings. It will be a HUGE congested area and will destroy the actual theme of Frontier Land. Spread out the theme, spread out the rides, thus spreads out the traffic of people and then it makes it better for the guest.
I can’t believe that they’re destroying Tom Sawyers Island. Very very upset about Rivers of America and the paddleboat. I read that every time that we come to Disney. why can’t they put cars land somewhere else?
Yeah. I've seen a couple coments saying that why not put the cars ride/land in Hollywood studios. To me I think that makes the most sense. Just my opinion.
We were on Tom Sawyer Island 2 weeks ago. I wish they would have used that space for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure & use Aunt Polly restaurant for Tiana’s restaurant. Put cars land in MGM with the other Pixar IP. Just my thoughts.
Just one more thought on your comment of “when was the last time you went to Tom Sawyer Island? As a person in my 70’s it’s been many years since I went as a child and then with my children. But I’m sure through the years there have been millions of children with there parents that have experienced that island. I think we have to remember that Disney parks are geared for all ages, therefore rides have to be aimed at young children as well as the 30 something crowd and older that go for the Disney experience. Each age group should have a great experience and be able to grow up and introduce a memory to their children and be able to enjoy it again with their children.
It's a shame to lose Rivers of America, one of our favorite places to watch the fireworks is from the boardwalk there, love the reflections of the fireworks in the water. Don't understand why they couldn't have kept part of it that is closest to Liberty Square and Frontierland and put Cars on the back island instead, it's not like they don't have the room. Also I hate how much "natural" landscape we keep losing at MK, I've been going through old pictures from the 90s and early 2000s, and there used to be so many more trees and landscaping in the park, it's all concrete now. At least the concept art seems to show some of the boardwalk remaining, hoping that means some of the water stays as well and just hidden behind the mountain. Also, any thoughts on the rumor that Monsters is taking over Muppets in HS?
I just have to come on here to defend Tom Sawyer's island, because I will have you know it is actually my favorite part of disney. The slander is not appreciated.
Burn paridise and put up a parking lot. I get that people dont go there often but its absolutely beautiful and so old timey disney. Why do they have to ruin everything with IP? Villans looks cool but I wish it was its own park.
Universal hold my beer Disney watch us build a new park epic universe universal is going to expand the lost continent and make that bad ass Disney is screwed
And it doesn’t even make sense. Villains are currently in multiple lands. Zerg is in Buzz, Captain Hook and Ursula are in Fantasyland rides. A villains land isn’t really a theme the way the other lands are in the park. They should call it something like Dark Fantasyland. Otherwise It’s silly
@@disneyshield exactly this is just pandering to the Disney adults who buy villains stuff and stand around the castle stage during the Halloween parties so that they can see the villains.
We have been coming to Disney since 1989, obviously not every year as we are from the uk but about 20 times Tom Sawyers Island is a favourite which do every visit, we last did it in May and we will do it again when come again on Saturday. It is iconic along with rivers of America .We even remember when there were the canoes you could paddle around the island. I have been to cars land in DCA and enjoyed it, but I also like taking time out from the crowds on the island , and if they are getting rid of these iconic attractions what next jungle cruise, tiki rooms
I would’ve put it at tomorrowland Speedway. That place is a toilet, so it would have really made the area nicer. Hopefully they get rid of tomorrow land speedway or at least put electric cars so it’s better
@@ToonieMarie na I’m the biggest Disney critic around but I don’t think using Tron, Guardians or the Epcot whatever as a baseline is realistic. COVID, inflation, recession concerns all effected those timelines. I think using Tiana’s is a much better gauge of times. 18-24 months for rethemes and 36-60 months for full builds.
I am not a fan of the rivers of America going, leave the river and use tom sawyer for a new ride, so awful to lose the ambience of the river!! Not happy at all😢
I'm sure Disney has a plan to tie this all in but very sad to lose the iconic Liberty Bell being taken away.. that area is so peaceful I hate to think about what the noise level with be. Ultimately, I'm sure Disney will make it Great
I am not overly pleased with this location. While I do really like the caves of Tom Sawyer Island, there is not much else there. But removing the Riverboat is a horrible decision. That boat is an iconic landmark of Libery Square/Frontierland and I will be very sad to see it go.
@@lindaa4789 here’s a thought. Try being creative and upgrade Tom Sawyer with maybe a ride. It’s a place for kids to enjoy. Also think about doing something with frontier land. Don’t need you to destroy everything and replace it with garbage just like what happened with splash mountain
Cars Land would make a lot more sense in Hollywood Studios. They could redo the Rocking Rollercoaster with a Cars theme and it would be near the Lightning McQueen Racing Academy.
Hi Kyle, I have an idea I for you 💡 You could totally explore and test the other Disney parks in the world 🌍 instead of just staying in Florida 🇺🇸 This would take your channel on another level, and you would never run out of ideas… just saying 🫶🏼
I'm sure a lot of us will miss Tom Sawyer Island, it has been a special part of the Magic Kingdom since it first opened in 1973, goodbye Tom Sawyer Island (1973-2025)
It’s not really about how many times we go to Tom’s sawyers island or ride the Liberty Belle. It’s about the ambience/vibe of that section of the park. Taking away the water it’s just absurd literally turning a pretty section of the park into more concrete walkways. And just because people don’t ride it often doesn’t mean they don’t utilize it. People look out at the water all the time. Same way they look at Cinderella Castle. Most people that visit the park don’t eat at Cinderella Royal Table. So does that mean we should demolish the whole castle? I don’t see why they couldn’t cut the river in half and just permanently dock the boat for scenic purposes. Such a shame
I think this was one of your best videos. It was so helpful to see how the concept art applies to the current layout and I love your enthusiasm. I’m also thankful you walked through Tom Sawyer Island. We have never walked through it and now I regret that. I’m glad I could see what it looked like through your video.
Last visit to Tom Sawyer Island March 2024, just hubby and I, ages 65 and 64. Bummed that the barrel bridge still wasn't open from our previous visit November 2023! There is so much real estate in Florida I don't understand why they don't just keep adding instead of ripping out everything generally tame and nostalgic.
Fun video of Tom Sawyers Island. I’ll miss it but am excited about Cars and Villains. I’ll probably miss seeing the river more than actually going to the island or riding the riverboat. Times keep a-changing.
I like Tom Sawyer island. I love the water near haunted mansion. Filled in be more hot concrete Take away from the pretty park. Build cars elsewhere. But this Disney execs keep making bad decisions all the time anyway. So….
I understand why people are upset but me personally I’m actually excited for a Cars land I wish they would’ve done an expansion behind Thunder Mountain especially since having water in that area helps because of how hot Florida gets, now that we’re getting 2 Cars rides they need to replace the Tomorrowland Speedway with an Incredibles Ride similar to the spider man or transformers type ride in universal who’s with me on that???
Kyle, Disney could do what they have at Disneyland. Keep a small “Rivers of America” with pool with boats. Cars Land in the back with Big Thunder. At Disneyland they have “Rise of Resistance”. So Florida, gets Villians since Rise is at Hollywood Studios.
This new Cars attraction should be at Hollywood Studios. Come to think of it, the new Indiana Jones attraction should also be at Hollywood Studios. In regard to theming, it makes more sense.
Here’s something to think about. There’s a reason why they built that River Journey in the first place. They needed somewhere for all the storm water to go to and to drain to so the park wouldn’t flood out. So it will be interesting on how they reconfigure it. Cause there gonna have to do something about storm water runoff
can't wait, similar have not been to Tom Sawyers for a while so think it will be a good use of the space, will miss the iconic riverboat just hope the park has the same feel, like you say with the potential extra noise and with villains tucked away towards the back
I don't like it. Seems like behind the circus area and the Speedway would be a better option. Or even behind Tiana's or behind thunder. Just seem misplaced in the nostalgia of that area.
@@stevendouglas8144 why can’t they try to be creative and improve frontierland? There are so many things they could do with Tom Sawyer Island. Instead, they wanted to destroy everything. This is not an expansion. This is a destruction.
There’s some people that whatever Disney does they will love!!!!!!! I’m an old (60+) and classic Disney fan. For me, PIXAR is not Disney, for example. Put all these brands (Marvels, Star Wars and so) at Hollywood Studios. And create new things for the Magic Kingdom following It’s original ideas! They already ruined the fantastic Epcot Center from the 80’s. Now is the Magic Kingdom in jeopardy!!!!! So sad!!!!
They will build this villains and cars lands will be great tom sayer island it will be closing replaced by new lands love this magic kingdomwill be good than ever before
@@fgdgyv12 epic is gonna be epic. Initial releases indicate that rooms food and admission prices will be less and more affordable for a family of four, and frankly probably much more fun.
Between 4 parks Disney has around 110-120 attractions depending on how you define attraction. Between two existing parks Universal has around 40, and EPIC reportedly will add another 11 for a total of 55. There’s really no comparison between the size and scope of Disney vs. Universal. This isn’t a dig at Universal, as they’ve been doing a great job but I don’t see why Disney should have to build a 5th gate when they already are more than twice the size of Universal.
@@Golfer5824 Measuring the downtime for each and every ride over the past six months is too big of a job, but according to the downtime measurements at queue-times in the past 7 days, the uptime for Tiana's has been equal to Hagrid's, and better than Flight of the Hippogriff. Why is it that people have constantly complained about Tiana's when Flight of the Hippogriff gets a pass when it, in fact, isn't as reliable?
Disney is dead…. I love Tom Sawyers Island. I take my grandkids to Tom Sawyer Island. Liberty Land is on the chopping block. Disney erasing American History. You can keep the passes.
Frontierland was not intended to be the "great big beautiful tomorrow." Go listen to what Walt said about it. The Walt Disney company appears to be rudderless at the moment.
It’s either go big or go home. They should have taken the risk and go beyond the mountain and beyond the railroad. Especially with Villians land beyond the railroad and beyond the service roadway back there. There’s a crap load of land back there not to use. Plenty of real estate. A good 20-30 acres back there of free land. Got to make the most out of it
They waited to mention it the day after D23 because they are cowards.. They know loyal fans are going to hate this, and they know they would have been booed at D23 and possibly have thing thrown at them! I'll never go back to the MK at WDW. As a CP I worked on the banks of ROA on the Patriots' merchandising cart. Guests would ask for a picture because of my Liberty Square costume (nickers, black buckle shoes, vest and a white shirt that looks like you'd expect) , and Japanese guests especially always said I looked very American. lol And this was in the 90's when there were no digital cameras and we sold film at the cart and every merchandise in WDW. And almost all of the guests wanted the ROA in the background of the pictures. I know how special that water is and how it makes the area so themed and just breathtaking. I'm in the process of selling all of my Disney stock (only stock I've ever bought). Just need it to go up one more dollar to sell the rest without a loss. Also, I'm not one of those who is against all change. I even like the reimagined Splash Mountain despite it being my second WDW ride, and second Disney ride anywhere, to ride. Peter Pan was first. We came up through the tunnel after traditions class, and we entered through the doors that face the castle. So the my first time in a Disney park and I enter within 20 feet of the castle and just looked up in awe. We rode both rides several times because in fall of 1992 there were NO lines for anything. yeah, lines use to only exist during the summer, Thanks Giving and Christmas the two weeks schools were out. I'm so luck I got to enjoy all of WDW with no lines and no huge crowds. It was truly magical and ROA was/is the most magical part of the park. Why don't they fill in the lagoon at Epcot too... They could do something else with Tom Sawyer's Island and even get rid of the boat, but the ROA add so much to the theming and atmosphere.
Be careful what you wish for...While I'm saddened that the "old Disney" is going away, I can understand their point -- the incoming generation of guests aren't going to be thrilled to toddle around Tom's island or ride the paddle wheel around on a track -- they want the instant gratification that comes with colorful, fun, faster rides like what the new Cars Land promises. You see that trend in much of what Disney is announcing for new generation attractions. It's a shame that we can't have it all -- but the reality is we can't.
How do you know what the new generation wants? Disney hopes the new generation will want 2 minute rides and to buy expensive merch and be on their way but that isn’t what they’re actually like. They’re not doing this to please an existing demographic. They’re doing it to create a demographic that makes them more money. It’s sick and it will lose them far more money than it will make them.
It's not an expansion. If they had put it outside the railroad like Space Mountain and Tron, that would be an expansion. This is going to ruin the nicest looking part of the MK. Hell, lets get rid of the old Castle too, get rid of fireworks and use the expanded treeless hub with more attractions that don't match the theming.
Youngsters need Tom Sawyer Island to burn energy. Others need it as a quiet place to get away from the crowds. It is a scenically beautiful section of the park. Absolutely horrible it's being filled in for a ride that could placed outside the berm.
It’s not about how much a land is visited, it’s all about cohesion.. how this will look infront of liberty square and Frontierland is very telling of where Disney is thinking let’s get rid of everything that’s not “woke”
I don't get the Cars land tbh. Feels silly have Test Track, Speedway and the new proposed Cars ride at Epcot & MK. Seems all the same kind of ride. Unless they have future plans for the Speedway land.
Cars Land? Ridiculous. What happened to Disney’s vision of the growth of America. Start at Main Street to Liberty Square then Frontierland. How about just improving Frontierland and expanding into adjacent available land for new rides. This is BS and a continuation of the DeAmericanization of Disney and the end of Walt’s concept. If you’re a supporter of this garbage, you’re in Disney’s pocket.
i'm not sad to see tom sawyer island go but I'm sadder about the liberty belle that ship is beautiful and for them to get rid of it... ugh that just sucks
