Hike through Bajo la Hondura, in the Braulio Carrillo National Park
I began my hike with a sunny but threatening day 2 kilometers from the border of the Braulio Carrillo National Park. The intention was to reach only the limit, but something caught my attention: a stone path that went into the jungle. It was an invitation to explore, and I couldn't resist the temptation.
The trail was wonderful. Trees of all sizes, exotic plants and birdsong surrounded me. I felt connected to nature and to my own spirit. I didn't want to stop walking.
After walking a few kilometers, I arrived at the place that had been recommended to me. It was a magical place. Remains of vehicles and a cross marked the spot where a church once stood.
At that place, I met a couple of very young hikers. We agreed that we wanted to get to the river that passed nearby. We tried to find a path that would lead us to the river, but we couldn't. Then we returned to the starting point with a total distance of 12 kilometers and a gradient of 512 m, but with the desire to return soon and complete the journey.
In conclusion, my experience was rewarding. It allowed me to connect with nature and with my own spirit. An experience that I will remember forever.
