Pregnant out of wedlock, an educated young woman is pressured by her father into an arranged marriage with a lonely farmer, in this drama set during WWII.
What a beautiful film. I doubted that men like Ray existed, but if anyone is out there reading this, please know that they do. Selfless, faithful, strong, and dedicated to their wives - I married one and I thank God every day for him.
Ray is like a saint! He starts off willing to accept & marry a woman he just met who was pregnant out of wedlock & raise her child as his own then just continues to build on his awesomeness from there. This movie literally has to work it to show he does have some human imperfections but he is definitely way up in the stratosphere in the ratings of true gentlemen 🥰
I’m 1963 I married a very special man who was also named Ray. We had barely been married for 10 years when I lost him to brain cancer. He was only 37 years old. But he left me with three precious gifts. A young girl of 9 years, another girl of 6 years and a boy of 4 years. Ray was a faithful man, my two girls married faithful men and I have 6 granddaughters all married to faithful men. I’m 78 years old now and I live with my beautiful oldest daughter and her lovely husband. They take such good care of me and spoil me rotten. I’m sooo truly blessed. 😇😇😇🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I married a Ray, but his name is George. i met him through a friend three days latter we went on a date by ourselves. told my friend i’m going to marry him one day. I was 16 and now we have been married for 61 years. yes the 16 is not a typeo best movie i have seen in years. my George has dementia now and didn’t remember who I am . but every time i change his solid dipper he say thank you for taking care of me. “ for richer for poorer in sickness and health “ we are still married and in love. thank you God for my George.
Just a break away from the swearing, sex & nudity, jealousy, killing, evil & very dark crap that's being shoved in our faces. This movie is for the human soul. Thank you.
I agree , it's good to visit places like this , that really exist because there are people in this world who keep those negative aspects out of their lives.
I wish I could say the same. It seems my parents had a difficult marriage but I hoped that I would find a good man but my life didn't turn out that way. I still have two children but my siblings passed away. It wasn't easy living in a dysfunctional family but life doesn't always don't turn out as we hope it would. Divorced due to emotional and pyhsical abuse. I am better alone.
I had been married to a boy I grew up with for 6 years. It was a big mistake from the first. I stayed for 8 long years. I was single for 5 years when I prayed and asked God to send me the man who He knew was right for me. Two weeks later I met Mr. Right. We married a year later and 33 years later he is still my gift from God and I still thank Him for this man every day.
I was married previously and I’m divorced now for almost 6 yrs. I too, asked God to send me someone but you know avail. I wonder why he did it for you but not for me.
I found my Ray nearly 30 years ago at college , we got together aged 23 and will both be 47 this year. He is the kindest man I have ever known and we have a beautiful son together. The two of them are the greatest gifts in my life.
Another lost woman filled with Marxist Communist / Femi-Nazi propaganda, which has brainwashed her into believing, that she's not happy unless she is a (so called) independent woman. No one is independent, as we are all interdependent. A man needs a woman and a woman needs a man. Helen of Troy was the downfall of two kingdoms, and the character in this movies represents the same destruction. Men and women are not equal but men and women are equally important. Does she finally figure this out? 😇😇😇😇😇😇😇
Same exact part that had my eyes filled with tears! So willing to love even through the awkwardness and differences. Not many people willing to step out of their comfort zone and endure the awkwardness these days
This is one of the best films I have ever seen. So gentle and filled with love, understanding, forgiveness, and patience! Ray and his sister truly hold the fruits of the spirit!!
I honest to God do not know why there aren’t more WHOLESOME movies like this…I’m a person suffering with depression and my God was this movie such a blessing…it brought so much joy to my heart. ❤
Yeah these kind of flicks used to be all over the place in the 1990s. Mostly TV movies that I can recall, a lot of them. I agree they could make good wholesome films that aren’t corny and over the top. Maybe there’s just no demand for them? And television is so different now. There’s so many formats and options now. It’s possible the networks don’t have the financing either and stick to the series formats.
I didn’t want this movie to end! I’ll be married 10 years this April and my husband is still just as sweet and kind and Ray was. Gentle and would do anything to make me happy. He is a Christian and seeks to love me as Christ loves His church. Ray was such a beautiful example of Jesus who loves with a selfless, consistent love. Beautiful movie! Definitely rewatching!
I had an aunt during this time in history that found herself pregnant. There were no options. She knew she could not have the baby and raise it on her own. My great uncle ( unrelated) found out and offered to marry her. She was a beautiful woman. He treated her with great respect and they never had any further children. She died early but her daughter was treated very well by all the family.
@@tamaralong8519 my grandfather's brother married my grandmother's sister because she was pregnant with another man's child. He did not want her to be an outcast or have a bad reputation. He was a good/kind man.
Me too! It's so hard to reach this level of understanding when you're in love (full of insecurities!) and comprehend that she was rejecting you, not because she didn't want you, but because she was punishing herself ...
Yes. i loved him for his wisdom in that! she truly fell into a great world there. God actually does things like that.... i couldn't help but love ray & olivia, both. so very many of the newer Hallmark movies are trashy. so much so that if i had been aware that this is one of the newer ones i wouldn't have watched it--- even tho i accidentally clicked on it! but it's as good as the older ones which you could COUNT ON being good & heart warming (we never missed a one of them when they came on!!! everything else was excitedly put aside when it was time for them...). LOVED this! it is extremely rare that i watch a movie twice but this one, i know i will. Skeet Ulrich truly deserved the Best Actor award for his part. ty for posting.
For me that line showed how much he understood her, and why he was so perfect for her. I know initially he was irritated when ever she brought up what happened, but he also showed how much he listened to her and saw her pain. I also loved when Martha said, "there's one thing I never heard you say and that's how you feel about Ray". Martha told her in som many words that she fell in love with Ray.
Who said you could not make a profound, beautiful movie with « ordinary days » ?? Because if you look deep inside... nothing is ordinary ! SO thankful I could see this movie ✨
Wow. So wholesome. And what a man! What a beautiful display of how a woman adds to a loving man's life and what a man adds to a healing woman's life. ❤️

Oh, how I would love to see a "Part 2" of this! Ray and Livvy having more children. Rose and Florence becoming respected professionals. Martha's kids getting on in life. A series would be even better!
Im a born-again Christian, as of six year's, and waiting patiently for that godly man, now there is no such thing as a perfect husband or wife but I believe a godly man or women can be compatible for each other. amen. ...
This is one of my favorite movies. Why don’t they make more like this - movies that inspire and celebrate the marriage of one woman and one man. Absolutely excellent film that all should see.
This is really "The Magic of Ordinary Days", I love how calm the film is, how meaningful the dialogues are, how humane the story is. Everything is so simple and so powerful. I've watched this many times but still love it. People love Ray for his kind heart, but I think Ray's sister is also a generous woman with a positive energy, she was kinda shocked when Livy wanted to leave, but never judged her at all. Everything is perfect and this is one of the best films I've ever watched. Thank you so much for sharing
I first saw thhis flim about 10 years ago...i own a copy and i still watch it over and over lol its a wonderful lesson, that we could all stand to learn... there is something magical in accepting each other and being together.
I agree!! She seems to be holding their cosy little world in a balance. Such characters always appeal to me as I’ve not come across such people in real life.
I cant imagine many would. I sure as heck wouldnt behave like that if livy was my sister in law. Id be all that sh*t. I wouldnt be tolerant of emotional affairs
Watched this on Christmas day 2022 while nursing myself thru a food coma. Ended up crying at how sweet this story was. I miss these sort of wholesome, endearing and elevating movies.
@@JasonBorn89 And there are people in this world choosing either heating or food to live here in the uK - and this crass woman stuffs her bake!! Gross!!
I was brought up in a dysfunctional middle-class family with authoritarian parents whom LOVE as in this movie was completely absent. I realized much later in life that even my parents never experienced LOVE in their families either and that gave me solace and peace in my old age to be grateful after all. This movie brought lot of tears to my eyes and wish I had some of the LOVE when I was growing up. I am not complaining and actually been blessed throughout my life, however, missed lots hugs, kisses and encouragements when I was younger.
Me too...my adoptive parents were abusive. When I finally heard 'I love you', it was said on the death bed. By then, it was too late and didn't matter anymore...
This was a great movie. I can't believe I found it. Uplifting and makes you feel good at the end. Looked at the year and it was made in 2005, that explains it.
How could I not know about this film before? The story is just so sweet and Ray, good god, is unbelievably wonderful. I couldn’t help but cried when he said “ and I love that baby”. I guess if Livy had not already fallen for him before unknowingly, she would at that moment! I’ll definitely watch this movie over and over.
My dear friend in Oregon and I both watch it yearly, and also the original "Anne of Green Gables". We adore this , and met on a double date in 1971! Her husband and my date (best friends) turned out to be handsome, charming cheaters, but she and I are like sisters. So good CAN come from bad situations. Her friend from Christian h.s. and she sat down and talked when both had divorced their cheating 1st spouses, and decided to marry. He raised her two children and loves being grandfather to her five grands. She had fixed me up with him in 1971, before he had married. He was older and very intense on wanting to marry; and I was just 17 and newly dating, so the chemistry wasn't there on my part. But he was a total gentleman on our one date; and I knew when she and I reconnected and I found out they had married that she had a Ray and was a lucky girl. I smile thinking about them together all these years, and their family is always in my prayers. God is so good! He is always in the backgound working on our behalf, even when we are unaware and when times look bleak. It is only when we look back over time that we can see how he let everything fall into place to bring about His magnificent Will for our lives. And when you study your family history and learn who your ancestors were and their stories, you become aware and thankful for the threads connecting you to people in history. You see how His hand has covered your family down through the generations.

@@cuprunnethover2509 my mom and I have watched it several times and again last night after going a few years without seeing it. I found it here and decided to watch it from the beginning because I always seemed to miss the first. Love it.
I don’t like how Abby was going to start terrible rumors and lies about Ray. I love how Livvy defended him, and told Abby that she couldn’t do that. Abby wanted Livvy for her own selfish reasons, because her husband was sent to war and she was lonely. I really enjoy watching her love for him grow a little bit more each time, and after she got the ring, a simple diamond, that was just for her made her realize that the love he had for her was real, and genuine. Watching her give birth and name their son after Rays and Martha’s brother was very heartwarming. But when Ray started singing to Daniel, I bawl every time.
Wow, this movie is truly otherworldly beautiful. And the actors stand apart too. I am glad they never wore the silly marvel costumes or were in some sick movie, but they seem to pick meaningful movies to star in. All this together with the priceless message that every life is precious!
I cant help to watch this movie over and over again. Beautifully crafted through it simplicity and authentic acting. The bottomline of the story is to treasure and to make the best memories out of ordinay days. It is so enchanting love story that delivers a heartwarming wholesome impact.
At the start of it i was as uneasy as livy. You work so hard for a future and to have your whole future gone, and to live with a man who appears ignorant on many levels. Its going to trigger a trauma response. I see it throughout the film until she changes her perspective and tmfinds a way to keep the old in the new.
This movie has touched me so much! Most of all, his positive spirit (face to a woman with a past and with no apparent intentions of having a true marriage with him) , his generosity, his forbearance and his gentleness! Due to all these, he finally made her love him! I was never like that in my relationships and that 's a big lesson for me... The second thing that was unexpected, is that he (with no studies, cultural and social status, no experiences on love affairs, as she has) appears in the beginning as a simple farmer with no value at all, but on the course of the events, proves to be more confident than her!
Yes Eva, I agree with you that Ray was a fine man. I believe he was also very knowledge... what is required to be a sugar beet farmer? Ray had to know when to plant (growing season) and when to harvest this very perishable vegetable for the market. He would need to have learned which sugar beet brand to grow in his type of soil. This would require some study in agronomy. How and what fertization for a good yield, which would require some study in chemistry. What percent of (Nitrogen, Phosphorus & Potassium)? Ray would need a good understanding of accounting to keep accurate records to pay back his loans to the bank after each annual harvest for the money he borrowed for seed, fertizer, and fuel. A simple farmer he was not, he was owner and a sucessful operator of a small business.

A beautiful film depicting acceptance, forgiveness and generosity, the essence of true love. Lessons to be learnt from the husband observing the needs of his wife.
Mare Winningham is one of the greatest actors, she was so young in the Thornbirds series starring Richard Chamberlain. The actors performed very well in this film, a loving heartwarming story based on a novel. One of my favorite films on youtube. Thank you for this wonderful film. 💖 😊
Even though there are bad men who weren’t taught right, there are men like Ray that exist and I thank the Lord and the parents who raise men like Ray. I am blessed to have met many friends who are like this and God willing hope to meet a guy like this one day. Thank you for sharing this movie ❤

What a beautiful movie. I was moved from beginning to end. They had some great actors and actresses. I know I will watch this movie again, maybe a few times, in fact.
I cried like hell while watching this movie. It became my top favorite after it ends. Loved this so much. It was so calming as well as the women empowerment was top notch.❤❤❤
This movie just goes to prove they CAN make good movies if they want to. What a refreshment that there isn't all the sewage scenes that bombard with practically every movie you pick up. Wish they would make more like this!!!
It was made in 2005, which is why it was decent. Did you notice how all of the characters added to the story arc and weren't just there because of DEI?
In this fast paced and insane world we live in, it is nice to be remined about how much pleasure can be found in the simple life. Thank you for the reminder.
The magic of a beautiful film. The movie stays with you as the viewer in taken on the journey with Ray and Livvy. Skeet Ulrich and Keri Russell's performances are subtle but powerful. Each showing compassion for the other as they navigate getting to know each other under uncomfortable circumstances. Livvy is surprised by Ray's innate wisdom and touched by his gentleness and kindness. Ray's horizons are expanded while learning about the interests and dreams of Livvy. Great performances. Can't imagine another actor representing Ray better than Skeet Ulrich. His performance is magical.
I love the quiet development of this film and the characters. It really says something about getting to the base of what it means to love and become a family. I first watched this years ago and then forgot until it came up on my algorithm. I'm so grateful to have rediscovered it.
This is so relatable. Marrying someone initially not in love with and then realizing how good they are to you, you can't help but love them. ❤️ Love how this movie reveals such a deep truth, without all the garbage. Real men like this do exist, they desire a woman's happiness and want to deeply love her like she deserves. It's a feeling so beautiful, one only feels unworthy of such goodness.
I think there were a lot of these marriages back in that time. It was a nice reminder that there are a LOT of men and women that made lives together out of a type of ruin. This is my second time around and enjoyed it as much this time as the first.
Can't remember how many times I've watched this movie. Bought it from iTunes. Worth having in your own collection. Many years from now, this will become beloved classic. Skeet won as best actor for his role as Ray.
This movie is set during my grandparents time of raising kids and running a farm. Ray is a good man like my grandpa, best man I’ve ever known. Livvy is truly blessed after being put to shame.
I know must people dont undestand this kind of love. Bust is the best ones. A genuine love is rare and amazing. So rare that I dont think is possible anymore in our days... One of my favorite movies for sure...
Such a beautiful movie! It really found me cause I didn't search for it! A modern made movie, reminiscent of olden days when things used to be simpler and people too, in a good way. Though times made precious people. Loved it, sure to watch it again!
I had to stop midway through just to lay it out there that It's the most beautiful, I mean Beautiful, it has that postive warmth, that coziness, That Goodness in it. The cast is perfect. Wish I knew about this movie earlier. Kudos to the Director, Cinematographer, the whole team.
