One of the best griffin designs, period! Also, coming back to this in adulthood its surprising to realize that this was my first introduction to an abusive relationship.
Plecisely! :P And yeah Ruber always tears out his feathers. You start to wonder why a creature this big and fierce takes all this abuse from a human much smaller than him.
So glad to see I was not the only one. I am surprised that his "Plecisely" did not become a meme at any time on the net. It's a crime he never had a toy. Well, he had a Happy meal figure, but that's all.
His design was really cool; the black, brown and purple contrast really well, along with those green eyes. His high pitched, hard to make out voice is also really cool; his sass is the icing on the cake. I remember when I was little, used to make my throat bleed from trying really hard to impersonate him. Definitely my favourite character. Shame we never got to know what happened to him.
Ruber: My faithful pet. How was the flight? Panic sweeps across the land. Griffin: Precisely. Ruber: My plan is perfect. Griffin: Precisely. Ruber: Without the sword, Arthur is vulnerable. Griffin: Precisely. Ruber: (Turning around evilly and gleamed) And now Excalibur, is mine. Griffin: (Grunts, and quickly turns around nervously) Here's where we enter a gray area. Ruber: Hmm-mm? (Hearing this, turns around suspiciously and grabs the Griffin by the ruff of his neck.) Excuse me? (The Griffin groans in pain as he grabs hold of him) You lost Excalibur? How?! (Kayley suddenly heard this and climbs up some stones to listen more carefully without being seen) Griffin: I was attacked by a falcon. (Ruber has already let go of the Griffin) Ruber: What? My magnificent beast outmatched by a puny, little pigeon? Griffin: It wasn't a pigeon. It was a falcon, with silver wings. Ruber: (Mockingly and sarcastically) “Silver wings?" Ooh, scary. (He grabs hold of the Griffin by the ear and pulls him to his level, whilst doing so, parts of his hair gets into his face) You stupid animal! (He fixes his hair back up) Where is the sword now? Griffin: In a place of untold danger. Ruber: The Forbidden Forest. Griffin: Precisely, Master. (Kayley gasps and then sneaks away quietly to the barn) Ruber: (Runs his finger along the Griffins beak and up to the top of his head) (Softly) Have I told you today, how magnificently and totally worth-LESS YOU ARE?!! (He strips a feather of the Griffin's eyebrow causing the Griffin to screech in pain. Ruber walks away, annoyed.) Excalibur is the one thing, that can keep me from my conquest of Camelot! (Ruber stops in his tracks when he suddenly hears a horse neighing from the distance and immediately turns to see Kayley riding off on her horse towards the Forbidden Forest) (Screaming) OH! TH-THE-THE GIRL! (Turns to his "ironmen" who are clumsy.) You! You! And You! Fancy Feet! (Bladebeak turns to Ruber, and continues dancing, and bumps into a ironman's leg. Bladebeak jumps startled) After her! And bring her back! (To the Griffin) And you... (Grabs hold of the Griffin's head and pulls him threateningly) you are going to lead me, to Excalibur!
reminds me of this: "Lord Shen! I saw a panda!" "A panda!?" "A kung fu warrior... he fought like a demon! Big and furry... soft and squishy... [growls]... kinda plush and cuddly..." "There are no more pandas..." "Even with his poor eyesight, he can see the truth. [Taps his scarred eye.] Why is it that you cannot?" "Find this panda, and him bring to me!"

SCOUTART well... i always thought that a falcon is basically prey for him, that’s why he is very vindictive towards Aiden for ashaming him. As for being roasted... we only see him being chased away.
It is so unique to have a griffin as a pet for the villain compared to the usual dragon or raven or cat or whatever. :P I wonder if Ruber raised him, but I prefer the idea that they met as adults. He could always just fly away from the abuse though. Maybe they have a better relationship than what is shown. :)
It's weird indeed. There are dragons in the movie yet they seem to be quite mindless. It's also unusual for a griffin to talk in such movies. I found a fanfic once describing how they met, btw.
Griffins are usually a symbol of nobility, so it’s fun to see what an evil one would look like. It is meant to be the ultimate predator after all (next to a dragon, but those suck in this movie)

Okay the griffin is now my favorite character 😂 he wasn’t my favorite because he was the villain but now that I’m older more villains in movies become my favorite character rather than the hero. Precisely😭
Same! Ever since I first saw this griffin as child I've fallen in love since then. How can you not love him? Lol. I'll admit, I am starting to miss the interesting villains in animated movies though. We need more villains and henchman like these guys again. They add a more interesting dynamic to the story.
I always felt that Griffin should have been the one to kill Ruber, after taking so much abuse from him. When I see him at 1:23, I see Griffin looking at Ruber like "You're really pushing it Ruber, and I'm going to be pushed to the limits of my patience with you one day." Would have been fitting I think and he could redeem himself.
Why does Ruber mistreat such a fabulous creature? I mean, I know he evuls, but still. You know how cool it would be to have a talking griffin for a friend?
Also gets afraid of destiny, takes the fate into his own fists at all costs, doesn't give up his way even realizing he lost, and accepts his prophesied death like a Chad

I spent all day wondering where I remembered this audio. All I could remember was a ragged voiced villain's sidekick repeating 'precisely' in agreement before cringing about a 'grey area'.
Again, Ruber's Iron Men with Hands of Steel were probably my favorite characters of this movie since again, they gave me Bayverse Decepticon vibes but yeah, the Griffin's also probably my favorite too lol.
Man i don't like this movie nowadays, but this dialogue is astounding, Gary Oldman was born to play villains who are evil just for the sake of it. And balance the lack of reuber's development. And Griffin for me it's charismatic and way better than the Dragons.
*inhales* this was one of the best movies from my childhood I still watch it *exhales* Your loss. This is an absolute gem. 100/10 singing dragons and jokes only understood as an adult

No, weirdly he is just called the Griffin in the credits, and nobody in the movie ever calls him anything. Maybe he is the only talking griffin in the lands, so they thought he needs no name.
Everyone who also wanted Griffin to join in the good side I’ll join in because now that I see him after years of watching other movies and getting into getting to know griffins and drawing one I wish he did join the good side.
He pulls out a potion he claims he "Bought from some witches." He was gone for ten years, plenty of time to learn magic, meet witches, etc. Seriously, a second film that brings him back via necromancy would be awesome! Give us some Ruber info!

Never mess with Ruber. Especially if he’s after Excalibur. The griffin was poorly abused by Ruber for losing the sword. Ruber even stripped a pair of the griffin’s feathers.🪶 *Ooh Scary*
