The word "meteor" comes from the word "μετέωρον / meteoron" (the object that hovering in the sky) Meteora is in plural, because are too many. This is one of the best videos for that holy place. The catalog of suggestions is endless for Greece, but the Peloponnese...

I went to Meteora last year. I also took the train from Athens--I actually based myself in Trikala rather than Kalambaka and I recommend checking that little city out as well. I did a sunset e-bike tour that was awesome!

Hi Alina, thanks for a brilliant video that allowed me to relive the magic of Meteora 2 years after I first went there. It really is breathtaking and awesome and your enthusiasm and respect shone through. Im stuck in Wales waiting for my next fix of Greece. I see that you did a hike in the Samaria Gorge and that’s on my list. Not sure if anyone else has recommended you take a look at the Vikos Gorge in the North West of Greece - its stunning and well worth a visit.

Thessaloniki!! You have to try chocolate profiterol with pistachios in a place called Choureal and visit Molyvos, Agora or any other restaurant in the center of my hometown.....and drink your coffee in the promenade off curse facing the beautiful sunset!

Hi from Greece! Meteora hosts many monasteries, not just this one. You can still find fossils from sea creatures up there as it was pushed above the water forming a plateau. Linkin Park's famous album with the same name comes from this place

Magnificent beauty and unbelievably dangerous building over many years, which must have taken quite a few lives. I will never see these wonderful places in real life, so thanks so much, Alina, for your tremendous gifts in video presentation and accompanying music! Humble suggestion: get a pair or two of cargo pants (extra pockets - i wear them all the time) or jeans to protect your beautiful skin from these rocky terrains and the elements. Also, water resistant hiking shoes are great.

Excellent video! Camerawork was spectacular, especially the sunset at the end which was a treat to watch. It's truly amazing how the monks climbed up the steep mountains and built these beautiful monasteries. Thank you for sharing this. Contrary to the popular tourist sites, Greece has some really amazing places to just "get lost" and be on your own or, at least, with very few people around. Mountains, hills, beaches. Hundreds of them, mostly free of tourists. Waiting for all of you to walk around or laze around. I usually see images of beaches with people one on top of the other and crowds in and out of the sea. How is anyone supposed to enjoy the sea or swimming like that ? So, since I am a local I avoid those places and where I go for a swim the next person that is on the beach is 50 meters away. Now, that is the way to enjoy the sea. Or the mountain. With some peace and quiet so you can actually hear the sounds of nature. P.S. If anyone wants to walk a lot in the summer sun, a hat is a good idea, along with all that water :)

That piece of wood hanging back there at 7:41 if i can see right, it's called "semantron" and monks kinda used it like a bell. They beating it with wooden mallets to call monks for pray. Great video and new subscriber

This place is literally most close to Heaven! It’s not only the stupendous views but also the religious vibes! Even if you are not a Christian Orthodox I think that places like this, making something inside you! So glad that you enjoyed it! Near to Thessaloniki there are some cities like Alexandria and Vergína where you can see the tomb of Philip, father of Alexander the Great, many relics from the era of Alexander. Also, you can visit the village Pèlla, to see the exact place that Alexander was born!!! *INFO* For your future trip to bulgaria, you will see many archeological places like Thracians tombs and Thracian treasures that Bulgarians claim that belong to them😂 All of the archeological sights in bulgaria as well as many many Orthodox churches were built by Greeks that lived there! Technically, bulgarians stole the Northern part of Thrace, killed many Thracians and banished the others! The Thracian refugees came to main Greece! Bulgaria is a ‘’fake’’ country built in Greek territories! You will see many Thracian treasures there! All of them are Greek!

Very impressive. You gotta wonder how they got all those stones up there....and shaped them - enormous amount of labor. Such great effort went into building cathedrals and the like in the Middle Ages. Makes the Kehlsteinhaus look like peanuts.

Meteora is a special place , but Halkidiki's eastern sleev Athos is also , keep in mind that women are not allowed to go there. One of the ways to see it is by ship or boat. The question is why the monasteries are built over these rocks? The history is the answer.....................
