We truly felt the same as we were filming this video. We were just blown away and it's just hiding in a small town in Kentucky of all places. We wouldn't have known about it unless our friend and Patreon member had recommended it. We hope hope you get the pleasure of visiting it. Thank you again for your donation. It made our night tonight.
Fantastic (and well advised) detour to take in the museum. Kinda speechless after seeing all those incredible fluorite specimens!! Thank you for the wonderful tour! WOW!!!
We really felt so lucky to get that private tour. This place is just incredible. How long of a drive is that for you to visit? Couldn't be more than a day. It's in Marion, KY I believe.
Holy Cow!!! That place is amazing! I love fluorite and that is amazing! And the Wow room is too die for! And the other mineral collections are just simply amazing! I'm just in total awe of all the beautiful mineral specimens! It is definitely on my bucket list! Wow and those grab bags are awesome. So amazing!!! Thank you so much for sharing that wonderful museum. It was spectacular!
Oh I know! This museum went right to the top of our list of favorites. We've never seen so much beautiful fluorite. So well displayed too. Definitely try to see this one in person. We had to cut so much footage for time.
That is one grand bridge ! Love the view at 3:20, so pretty :) Wow what that man saved from being crushed is so amazing ! I can't get over how much he saved and how beautiful ever piece is ! I wish it could of been in a museum when he was still alive to see all the people love what he saved ! So fun to see what can be found in other States and Countries. What amazing grab bags ! So fun to watch😊
Thanks Cherry. You're right. With how soft fluorite is it really is amazing they have so many pristine specimens. We were speechless over most of this stuff. Just an amazing collection.
Love the bridge, that was cool! Awesome old equipment, that's sweet, a nice collection there! What an amazing museum, wow, right from the get go, the huge horn coral piece outside. So so many different pieces there, the beauty in a lot of those too, special pieces! This was a cool experience and journey through! Wow, I keep saying wow! Thanks Charlie and Liz!
There is a museum for everything.. We have a mosquito museum, a bog musum among other silly stuff here in Norway! The museum you show us here looks really cool, I mean I'm not too much into rocks myself, but this do look intriguing! 😁😁😁👍🏻
Thanks Nick. We were pretty stoked about it. We were the only people there so the director gave us that private tour. Seriously amazing. Glad we could share it.
@@TheAdventureCloset Yes! I thought that was so cool that she told some stories and the history of it all. Super informative and 💯 Absolutely Mind blowing. I gotta visit that place, it's on my bucket list for sure. I'm so glad you were able to share that with everyone! I hope they do well and the watchers of your channel check it out and show them some Love. That's a re-watcher of a flick if I ever did see one.😜🫡😎🥳🤘
oh….. my….. LANTA!!!! i have got to get to this place! if only to go clean out their gift shop!😂. what amazing displays! some of those specimens.🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤. and that UV room. whaaaaaat!
Haha! It could have been 10 hours. We had to cut out so much because we filmed just about every rock. Thank you for saying that though. Guess we could have included more.
I'm not sure if I am the "Mark" you referred to but I do think I told you a while back about this place. Perhaps another Mark did as well. Either way, I am glad that you found it as amazing as I did. We took our rock club there around five years ago and we need to go back. The museum and history told there is worth the trip. We have many new folks that haven't seen it I know. When we went before we hired a guide ($50 I think plus our club tips generously). He took us north to Cave-in-Rock, Illinois to a mine site that we could pick around in. We had to cross the Ohio River on a big ferry boat to get there. We caught the last ferry back to Kentucky that evening so we could stay at the mine site after dark. Using a uv light on the ground at the mine is something that you won't ever forget. We were able to find a few nice specimens in the tailings, but the overall experience was memorable.
You are in fact our friend Mark we mentioned. Thank you so much for this recommendation. I think you'll like our upcoming video as we took that ferry boat you mentioned over to Cave in Rock. One if the best days we had in a long time.
We gotta get to those. We have done several videos in Nevada and we love it there. So much beautiful opal and agate. Plus that rare purple dumortierite only found there. You live in a cool place.
I love Fluorite , its such a pretty mineral and has amazing shapes ,I would love to see that museum under a black light I bet it would glow like crazy. I remember you guys telling me about this place , now I for sure have to go and check it out there is soooooo much cool stuff here , like you guys said it was loaded with specimens but Daaaang. And thats one heck of a grab bag for $4.00 even the $2.00 one was well worth it Great Video guys , I think I may have to go down in the next week or so
You gotta see this in person. Did you catch the coal coated gastropods? 🤯🤯🤯 We were so impressed by all of it. Go on a week day and I'll bet you get the private tour too. Say hi to the director for us. She's great.
@@TheAdventureCloset I know right !! I love fossils like that , its so crazy how they form with what ever mineral is around ... and I will say hello for sure , Like I believed you guys when you said it was awesome , but until I saw the video I didnt realize how AWESOME !! it was
It's just a few hour drive for you. Let them know we sent you and that you have a youtube channel. I bet they give you the extra cool tour too. That place could use the publicity.
Wowza! That was an incredible museum! Great uv display! I saw a Superman statue, lol. Saw some beautiful blue cavenite on stilbite. There are so many beautiful pieces of fluorite from Cave In Rock in that museum. That huge white triangular one with purple tips was mind-blowing! Everything in there looked amazing and so much fun to browse through. Really cool grab bags, too! Kentucky is awesome! Hahaha, ever since your guys KFC video I keep getting KFC ads, LOL!! And for Mercedes Benz camper vans. Thanks for taking us along on that museum adventure. Hope you guys are doing well. Take care 🙂
Lol! Interesting to know the kind of ads they throw on there. KFC needs to give us a kickback though. 😂 Yeah this museum is something else. Hoping they get a few more visitors from this video. They were so happy to have visitors too. Just a great experience. We are doing pretty good. Thanks for asking. Tired from adjusting to the new job schedule but that will get better. How about you? Felling any better?
Fluorescent Room was the Coolest thing I have seen. Such an informative and fun stop enjoyed your trip as I am recuperating from breaking my leg, and unable to discover new spots or beaches until recovered😊
I was out on the beach it was mostly covered in snow, except for a sandy path. I stepped into the snow with my right foot and that step my right foot spun and then i heard a bone pop. Two broken leg bones.
With out a doubt thats rockhound heaven , crazy stuff i need to watch the video again i know i missed some stuff , did they frisk you on the way out if not how many pieces did you get 🤣thanks for sharing
We're surprised it's not more well known. There was so man amazing pieces in there that you would expect to see in a bigger museum. It is definitely a rockhound's dream collection.
So how many hours did you spend in there? That seems like an all-day museum! The Iceland spar calcite might be optical calcite where it shows birefringence that doubles text/images if you put it on something.
We spent half the day there and could have stayed longer. It was the coolest museum we had ever been. Interesting about the optical calcite. We'll have to check that out. That sounds pretty cool.
