Ben Collins tests all seven generations of the VW Golf GTI together at Goodwood, showing us how the father of the hot hatch has evolved into one of the most popular cars of 2016. #gwoverdrive
What's funny is that the interior IS that of a Mk 6 GTI... did they accidentally delete the footage of the Mk 6 exterior and review and couldn't reshoot or what happened there? And why did they have footage of the Clubsport exterior in the first place?
I continued to watch this video in order to see the MK6. You blew it off. Not completely but almost. What a shame. It's a beautiful/great car and deserves more attention than you gave it. That being said, this is still one of the better GTI videos.
Some say.... The reason The Stig doesnt speak is because "racing drivers cant speak in coherent sentences", but I say its because Jezzer was thinking of job security lol
What's funny is we see interior shots of a red mk6 in the video. So they obviously had access to one. Guess they accidentally deleted all the exterior footage and hoped nobody would notice by replacing it with a mk7 Clubsport?
You should have included the mk3 gti vr6.. As an owner of one, i feel excitement everyday i drive that thing. Mine is bone stock, and it handles amazingly, and accelerates to sixty in about 6 to 7 seconds. It is an amazing car.
I had a buddy in school who had a GTi "Wolfsburg Edition". For a little 4 banger, it was impressively fast, especially in the corners. We made a normally 20 minute trip on some pretty twisty back roads, in 8 once.
Think it's depends on where you are in the world. For example, I have a mk4 GTI VR6 with 24v (the actual most powerful GTI in comparison to the mk5 because of 1 horsepower lol), and in Europe that doesn't exist.
Yeah I've become aware of that from past discussions, from my understanding it's completely different car. One is a Golf with 4 motion and the other is a GTI with upgraded components.
'Original GTi', sure. "Father of the Hot Hatches",.... ? PFFFFFT, Not even close, about 8 years too late. Renault 16TS. Used to love picking on GTi drivers in the twisty bits, just took the right tyres to make a 16TS go from neutral understeer, to throttle steered four wheel drift.
are you kidding me. I watched seven minutes of this video to get to the mk6, which is my car, and you didn't even show a mk6 nor did a video on it. Waste his time 2018? thumbs down.
So 0-60 in 6.5 seconds is supposed to be fast for a 'sports' car? The 4 door family car 2002 Nissan Altima SE did 0-60 in 5.9 seconds and 14.4 seconds in the 1/4 mile. Not to mention that after a few years you'd spend more time fixing that VW than actually driving it.
Nissan is no winner in the reliability department. They are terrible cars. I am not saying VW is the best in terms of repairs, it is not.. Toyota is... Honda 2nd, Subaru 3rd... but Nissan is JUNK. Since they teamed up with Renault over 15 years ago they have made terrible cars.
