Magnolia Beacon performers (left to right): Erika Lewis (Tuba Skinny) Meschiya Lake (Little Big Horns) Russell Welch (R. W. Hot Quartet) Streamed live October 6, 2010
@@joeomalley7528 she's still with Tuba Skinny but lives in Tennessee now with her husband and little son. She gets together with the band when she can, but of course she can't right now. And recently she apparently had a successful thyroid operation.
Just discovered this through watching Norbert Susemihi's Night on Frenchmen's Street. At times they remind me of Gillian Welch and other times of The Roches. Love their melodies and harmony!
Who did the color grading on this? Stunning work. Warm, but with the softest touch. The skin tones are a joy to behold - especially with more than one person in frame.
Absolutely new kind of music for me! I'm diving into and flying among this wo nderful female vocal! Despite I'm Erica's fan, I was excited by Magnolia!
The Music and the singing is great, no one is interested in the tats and any other made up distraction look at the beauty of Erika and other musicians, they are putting the best they have into this! Be grateful to see this on you tube... well done girls and fellas and many thanks💐☘️💕✨✨✨
Don Yarber, not to pick a fight but I like the tats. It's the why?? do we wear this brand of bluejeans or dye our hair that color or go for that kind of hair style?? If that say's something for the one wearing it, Okay, that's good enough for this old man. So practice thinking peace and pass out a few blessings to anyone on any street corner, ℗. p.s. yes I have one tat on one forearm & that's it!
Got all the hallmarks of hipsters; Silly band name Old fashion hats, Rootsy instruments Tattoos on the girls Low fi vocals Steam Punk clothes for the girls Not particularly good guitar playing..
+birdstuckinchimney I can't speak for anyone in the band playing EXCEPT Meschiya Lake playing banjo and doing the back-up vocals. She is NOT a hipster and is rather Punk Jazz and a huge helping of bad-ass! Do a search for more of her music- she's AMAZING! Met her in 2008 on a vacation to NOLA and she (and a group of performers called Loose Marbles) were playing in the middle of Royal Street with a piano and horn section complete with swing dancers. Few times in my life have I ever been moved to tears by live music but this tattooed, red-haired siren belted out a Edith Piaf standard "Non, je ne regrette rien" and I tipped them $50, purchased one of every CD they selling, started emailing her, and have followed her ever since. My family and I vacation in New Orleans every year and the trips not complete without seeing her play. She's phenomenally talented and has soul in her voice that is uncommon. I know hipsters and Meschiya Lake is no hipster.
Michael McDaniel From Wiki; The hipster subculture is composed of affluent or middle class, generally younger people who reside primarily in gentrifying neighborhoods. It is broadly associated with indie and alternative music, a varied, non-mainstream fashion sensibility (including full beards, tattoos, checked shirts, vintage and thrift store-bought), generally progressive political views, organic and artisanal foods, and alternative lifestyles. The subculture typically consists of white millennials living in urban areas. It has been described as a "mutating, trans-Atlantic melting pot of styles, tastes and behavior". The term in its current usage first appeared in the 1990s and became particularly prominent in the late 2000s and early 2010s, being derived from the term used to describe earlier movements in the 1940's. Members of the subculture typically do not self-identify as hipsters, and the word hipster is often used as a pejorative to describe someone who is pretentious, overly trendy or effete. You sound like you in love dude I hope she reciprocates and you live happily-ever-after :-D
+birdstuckinchimney well thanks for the copy/paste from Wikipedia- glad you cleared that up for me. And all this time I thought hipsters were small rodents that live in a cage...oh wait that's HAMSTERS. Snarkyness aside, I've met her and in my opinion, she's not a hipster. It's like you saying someone you never met was a cheap bastard. That's your OPINION but it's not fact.
How does seeing something distract you from the sound of something? You are probably one of them people who turn down the radio in your vehicle so you can find the address better.
