To be fair I think all of them like Martin a lot. Even in the beginning where John complained about im constantly, he instantly believed him about the worm story and let him stay in the archieve and Martin was the first John started to trust again while in his paranoia. @@germanerd6148 it is NOT friendly bullying. Especially the way jon treats martin in the early seasons. Jon had very bad issues he needed help with. Having no access to help, Martin was his emotional punching bag. It wasn't friendly. At all. They've come a long way since then, of course. But i think it's still important to know that jon was a complete asshole, close enough to a workplace bully, before changing.

I like the detail where John says "spiders..." and then takes a deep breath as if bracing himself to continue. It's the little details like this that make it so believable. And while John doesnt realize it, the way he says "I know I shouldn't but I'm going to anyway" is mirrored in lots of other testimonies he's read. This fascination effect that the supernatural has on people is a major theme in the Magnus Archives.

So far, at least to me, the insect and arachnid people seem separate. The arachnid people stories usually involve mind control directed from the arachnid person to others. The insect people, on the other hand, are often brainwashed themselves, but seem unable to mind control anyone who doesn't already have insects living inside.

it didn’t sound like a proper experiment? shouldn’t there have been multiple people projected on? also, there should be a control group to see how people react to no projection. l remember them mentioning control during the episode but l couldn’t hear parts due to people talking near me. anyways, annabel reacting differently than fear wouldn’t be the only thing that would get in the way of publishing satisfactory results.

You’re correct, but the control they mentioned was the times they told Annabell there were people projecting when there were not. @MrIsizukuri
@MrIsizukuri Год назад
@@Tristan-M-1 I'm listening for the second time now, and my theory is that the cause of this is Annabelle Cane and her mind control powers? The very fact that it was the experiment about spiders, conducted in this very specific (and incorrect) way? The statement-giver also mentions that mentions of its "out of a horror movie" premise and details seemed like a sore spot for the researchers, but they were still going through with it, and they got the funding, and overall - everything just inexplicably fell in place that this "experiment" happened the way it happened. I think it's safe to blame Annabelle.

My theory from this episode and what we know so far: I feel like the name Annabelle Cane is somewhat familiar with me, like it was referred to, either full or partially, in another episode. Or it could be just because Annabelle reminds you of the horror movie in our world, so who knows. I don't have the patience to go through 68 transcripts to search for the name.. :3 So, another episode for the spiders entity. From what we heard, I believe that the professor who started this experiment wasn't aware that they were working for a supernatural entity, and since the spider entity has trained very good the skill of thought manipulation, it's more possible that the professor was a pawn of the entity, made to believe that this experiment was her idea while, in reality, she was helping on "turning" a human girl, Annabelle, into a part of that spider entity, like Michael is part of the spiral entity or Amherst (is that written right?) of the disease entity or Prentiss of the hive entity. And Annabelle is alot like Prentiss. She, too, has been "lured" by the spiders' song as Prentiss said she was by the hive's, and she too had slowly fallen into becoming a part of the spider entity. I don't know why the students who were part of the experiment were doing that circle thing or acting the way they were, though I think it was maybe a ritual, orchestrated by the spider entity, to (obviously) do something that would be (again, obviously) not very good. The witness interrupted the ritual, so Annabelle, who was now a part of the entity thus it was more like the entity using her body as a host to be in this world, tried to make him kill himself in order for him to not make any further problems for the ritual. I don't know how Mark was able to break free from the spider's manipulation, so I presume it was the same way that witness on another episode was able to break free before he ate that apple filled with spiders; with the "help" of another supernatural entity. And I'm saying "help", because whoever or whatever helped Mark wasn't from their own good will but because their plans were for them to interrupt the spiders' ritual, just like Agnes interrupted the spiders' rituals again and again in the Hilltop house all those years ago. And since spiders are at war with the lightless flame entity, there's a good chance that one of them was the one who helped Mark. All of the participants of the experiment, one by one, started vanishing. That is most likely because they were so deep in the trap/web of the spider entity that, even after some time, the spider still had a hold on them. So, like the kids in the Hilltop house, sooner or later they would go back to the spiders or Annabelle and the spider entity would do to them what it does to all its victims. Mark I believe is not yet safe. I think the spider is trying to get him again, what he says to Martin resembles a bit what Annabelle said she was experiencing and dreaming before she was owned by the spider entity. So either Mark will become like Annabelle, if left on his own, or he'll become like the dead victims of the spiders. But, when Martin mentioned that what Mark described the spiders is biologically non-possible, does that mean that the not-people are indeed a manifestation of the spider entity? I mean, last episode John says about how there are more and more spider webs in the tunnels and Not!Sasha appearing for a second alot more taller than she actually is, and in this episode we also have the mention of Annabelle being alot taller than she likely was normally, and I remember in an episode, in my comment I wrote the possibility of the not-people and the spiders being part of the same entity, so does this episode make it more likely? Well, for me personally, it does raises the chances of that being true. As for John, as I stated in the previous episode, I think he knows, or at least he feels it. When he said about "the worst that can happen if he tells them", I think that's what he's scared of; of one of them (or more) being indeed something supernatural and making a move against him after he tells them. Also, the urge of John to learn, to find out, even though he himself says how dangerous it is and how he doesn't want to go there 'cause he's scared and that he should leave the tunnels alone reminds me of all the times the witnesses said about "knowing they shouldn't do it, but they still did". Something supernatural is pushing John to the tunnels.

When Jon said "more spiders..." I wonder if he organized the statements by similarities
@waffleaffle231
@waffleaffle231 4 месяца назад
I don't think so. There's just been recurring themes, and spiders are one of them, so "more spiders" seems like a reasonable response ngl

Not Jon’s voice getting quite after fighting with Martin, the way he read the beginning of the statement then back tracked broke me :’0(

this sotry for some reason is the one that has disturbed me the most.... the idea of somebody sweet being turnedinto such a horrific creature so slowly disturbs me so much.. shows that nobody is safe i suppose also nice

First time viewer here, no spoilers please! One thing i've noticed is that a lot of the things related to spiders have a hypnotic effect - the spiderweb table traps people tracing its patterns - annabel cain controlled a whole bunch of people - that guy in the basement who nearly died but was saved by agnes's kiss (i forgot what episode) also, nice

The first half of this statement scared me more than the second, because i absolutely don't mind spiders and mind control. But psychological experiments having weird effects... oh boy. Also i really like this Darren Harlow. The things he says at the beginning are really interesting. "Even when you're really looking for horror, it's impossible to actually believe it." "We create the world, in a lot of ways. I suppose it shouldn't be surprising that, when we're not being careful, we can change it." Also "i can't not know"... if you know you know

When that low drone gets going you know things are about to get spooky. Also, I noticed a spider on my wall while listening to this episode.

Honeslty, choosing to induce fear sounds about right. As someone who did a study on the relationship between anxiety and sexual arousal, I can tell you it is waaayyy easier to make someone anxious than to make them feel anything else

noticed factions so far: micheal (whatever he is), spiders, fire, death, things eating people that really shouldn't be eating people (the sky, shadows, humans), endlessness (endless sky, endless hallways, endless space, endless sea) plus companies or people that seem to be tied together: the antique seller (micheal solaso), the lukas family, a town in northern norway, gerard keay, micheal crew, jared hopworth, simon fairchild, agnes fielding (dead), and now annabell kane. please feel free to add! i'll edit them in :)))

It was clear that the spiders had some level of mind control but I just now realised its because of their silk, their strings! Spiders can puppet people because of the strings! I am pretty sure that was literally how the kid saved by a kiss described brushing teeth in recluse but I'm a bit dense
