Is there something i missed why are (at least im martin and john case) the character design so fairly agreed upon like this is crazy for a series thats audio only (Edit: spelling mistake)
It sometimes happens within fandoms. People find a certain couple of designs that they love, and over time they become widely agreed upon. The TMA fandom has had 7 years to meld our collective consciousness around Martin and John's theoretical designs. You'll still sometimes see very different interpretations though. But overall, no, you're not missing anything. Someone decided that John was an angry wet cat and Martin was a golden retriever, and we all just ran with it.
