The Magnus Archives Animatic - The Coming Storm

I've wanted to do something with this scene since I first heard it an this took me like a month to finish.
This is technically my first animatic, and though I'm really really happy with how it turned out I've certainly learned a few things for next time. There are a few things I'd go back and change if I was striving for perfection, but this was more an exercise and an effort to get back into a creative groove.

Personally I always interpretted him going into the coffin to save her as being more for Basira then Daisy. Their eventual friendship was because he realised she'd been at the whims of the Hunt, and with him being neck deep in avatar bullshit he could understand

I think it was also that Jon wanted to prove to the others, especially Basira, that he wasn't as much of a monster they were making him to be.

Season 3 Jon was so clueless. Like he had absolutely no clue what was going on. He didn't even realize that he was using his weird eye powers half the time.

Remember, Mike’s was the first death Jon EVER witnessed in person…he saw the Leitner aftermath, but this has got to be SO much worse.

This is so good, your style is so clean! I’ve always loved this scene, it’s the first time we hear Jon actually sound scared. It just showcases how great a voice actor Jonny is

I just found this! Your animation is amazing! It's such a key moment and my God Injust wanted to hug Jon, he sounds so utterly terrified and rightly so. You captured the expressions and body language beautifully, the threat of Daisy, the fear in Jon and the calm of Basira. The extra detail with the eyes of Jon compelling and Daisy's eyebrows of her 'yeah, he's on my list too' so well done! Thank you so much for sharing!

Okay but I just caught that as soon as Daisy was handed the cassette, all she wanted to do was bring the tapes to him. And, well, S5 end really makes it clear why that is in a way I never caught before.

The near silent "okay" from Jon after the gunshot killed Mike and he was told to hand over his bag- aughhh every time I relisten i find more and more cool things hidden in TMA !!!!!! God that little "okay" is just so good!!!!!!!! Voice acting ✨ Edit: its at about 0:26 !!!

I just listened to this episode for the first time tonight and couldn't get this scene out of my head. Jon sounds so scared. It wouldn't leave me alone. This is really well done. I'm super impressed, especially with it being your first animatic. You nailed it. Great job. :)

Ahh!!!! This is so good! I love your character designs, and everything seems so fluid. I love the thing you did with the tape recorder inside the bag. Also the scene is even more creepy when I can see what Daisy is doing to Jon, the knife against his throat and the blood. It’s terrifying.

Always thought in the finalé of tma basira's realm was "the hunt" and she was hunting for daisy. She didnt take daisy's she had her own

I've noticed that every time I see a drawing of these characters from different artists, they all have the same or similar design. Are they basing the characters off their real life counterparts or is this just an accepted head cannon that the community accepted?
