Very interesting to hear your professional commentaries. I learned much from my Mother. She was 101 years old when she Reposed in the Lord on Easter. She did not eat anything after 5pm. She had Glaucoma, could not see anything by age 100. I visited her daily, always for dinner that i would bring from home. Included homemade soup, Bulgarian yogurt, cranberry juice, dark chocolate. I asked her daily if there was something else she would want. Sometimes she liked some herring and fried zucchini. We would sing together do our prayers and she would settle for bed by 8 pm. Mother had a beautiful singing voice (she sang 74 years in a church choir). I try to follow into her footsteps except would like to avoid Glaucoma.

@@semaaral2498 thank you for your kind remarks. I was s widow of a WWII POW and Korean Veteran who died of Esaphageal Cancer 3 years before my dear Mother. Since by then i was retired and my kids were grown and grandkids lived out of town, my Mother became my vocal point of my daily routine. I wished i could have taken her home, but i live on a second floor walk-up unit. Since my Mother was such a kind and sweet human being it was always a pleasure to spend evenings with her and have her eat her favorite food. I trust her longevity to her religious upbringing and her clean eating habits. Small meals, no artificial foods or sweetness. Vegetables were at least half of her meals. Always saying Grace before a meal and singing. Mother used to recite Psalms 50 (51) 90 (91) and Psalm 33(34) when she went blind, they helped her stay happy and not be depressed. Actually I felt blessed being able to be with her daily. It gave me a purpose and I giving back.

Once I changed my diet and lost 10 pounds, my chronic fatigue went away and my nasal congestion lessened. I still suffer from sinus issues due to my inflammatory issues but it's greatly improved. Daylight saving by altering our clocks in spring and autumn should be scrapped, it’s causing too many health problems. I go to bed at 8pm, drink lemon water with ACV, read until 9pm, awake 3am for toilet, back to sleep for 3 hrs. Who needs extra hours of light?

I think the largest problem with insomniacs is the similar problem with attempting meditation. It's called the "monkey mind", where your mind starts to review problems and challenges that we experienced during during the day. Some people have very stressful lives that carry into sleeptime.
@danguee1
@danguee1 Год назад
I'm an insomniac. My monkey mind is not necessarily about stress - more normally it's because my brain is too curious and wants to solve stuff or understand stuff. I have a very interesting job - structural engineer - and I'm into all sorts of other interests in my life (investments, travel, economics, science, music....). I will wake at 3am for hours just churning/problem-solving (and, yes, stress too if it's around) stuff in my life. The way I get to sleep again - works fairly well - is to put on a distracting podcast (I use/download the massive and brilliant BBC 'In our Time' series). You'd think my brain would latch onto the interesting stuff they talk about. But, no, instead it just takes me away from my own issues and can have me asleep again in minutes. Of course, that's anti-social and I have to sleep on my own.... And I think it keeps me from discovering and implementing a proper solution, tbh.

That was the most amazing and informational interview I have heard for a long time. I have had chronic fatigue, insomnia, unexplained infertility, digestive problems and chronic cough for over 25 years along with many weird and unexplained symptoms. I think a lot of my symptoms are also related to the vegus nerve. My average sleep has been 4-5 hours a night for over 20 years along with many stresses of life. I have been able to change some things for some time but not all. Especially the stress and sleep issues I have not been able to resolve even with medications. But now I am at the make or break point and I have to do everything I can. Thank you so much for great information.

Sindy S I have the same as you and more. I was diagnosed in 1997. They said it was a Rheumatoid condition, Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatique, Irritable Bowel, Hypo Thyroid, Hashimotos, Sjogrens, multiple allergies, migraines, all in the first month. It went down from there. I was told that I was very ill, at the time I didn’t want to know. I just asked if it was cancer and if I had two years. He said no to cancer and maybe 2 yrs. I still didn’t want to know. The left leaning government had the info blocked on the internet I kept trying to find out what would cause whole body inflammation all these years. Trump said all along he was going to let everyone find out the truths hidden from us. Two weeks ago low and behold I found it. Maybe you have the same thing. I too lost babies early on until the 8th month. The list goes on. Look up Multiple System Inflammatory Disorder, it will take a lot of time! Every page is there is something to click on follow that. You’ll just have to go back to the original article. Judy Mitkovitz has several books out, the first is very difficult to read unless you are an advanced Scientist researcher. People were getting sick all around the world with strange multiple diagnosis’s that didn’t fit together. Research Scientist over the globe were trying to solve this. Those sick, most were barely able to get out of bed. I thought she was speaking to me. I have yet to check with her if both of these are one and the same. If you know about Q., she was on many of their shows to get the word out. It was another lab screw up that caused this and was covered by Fauci and the gov. I’ve had 5 cervical fusions and recently was diagnosed with a lumbar area that slipped off the level below along with a cyst in my sacral area. I hope this helps you a little bit. I wouldn’t wish this on anyone. As you’re reading I’m sure you will find other problems that your brain just can’t pull up because they aren’t the ones bothering you the most today. Good luck to you. 🙏

Great interview! So insightful! I’m so grateful the importance of sleep on our overall health and inflammation is emphasized. Sleep, nutrition (for me mainly plant-based), daily exercise and time in nature, as well as stress management are the main factors I use to try and keep my inflammation down (dealing with osteoarthritis in the back, feet, knees).
@perrinesapiensette
@perrinesapiensette 2 года назад
Try meat-based with a lot of fat, you will heal so much quicker. Unfortunately, plants contribute to inflammation especially grains and seed oils. Most plants contain toxins (oxalates, lectins, etc) which damage our gut in the long run.

You probably fall asleep in front of tv during the day. Being retired without structure and routine does that to us. Covid lockdown did that for my self and my husband. Hard to break that lifestyle change. Unless you are or intend to put forth the effort to be active and busy, do not retire! Go pt at least so you have a routine. These past 3 years have been especially depressing and anxiety filled. If you retire, please have things that keep you active and fulfilled.

I have recovered from CFS 15 years ago and long covid this past spring. I was previously very active, felt "walking" was just a waste of time. But when I was ready to "exercise" I began with making extra trips between the kitchen and the bedroom.. literally 😁. Just a bit more, no big goals, no speed or time requirements, no self-punishing, more of a scientific experiment looking for "information" as to what I can do today. As tolerated, I would make a few more laps, or add a loop in a room. Later, I would walk out my front door and then in the back door. Later short laps on the driveway. For me, the important thing is to make repeated short laps that bring you back to a rest spot. For me, the worst thing was to find myself exhausted but a mile away from home! May God bless you with a clear path to total recovery. Merry Christmas ❤🙏❤

I had a problem with inflammation but my Dr didn’t have a clue what I could change. I learned that inflammation is the precursor to a heart attack and the cholesterol is like a bandage it fix the holes being poked in the artery wall. I starting to try to find what was causing the problem. I have a very long day but I have to wait an hour before I can eat but that means I eat about 6AM and so i try to eat something that is substantial so I will be hungry about 1-3 PM and that is lunch. I seem to have a high metabolism that time of day because I have been working hard for 3-5 hours. I tend to be hungry again about 3-4 hrs later and will allow myself to eat very lightly so it is all gone by about 10 PM at the latest. I kicked the dairy and all the refined foods out of my house as well as using very little sugar. I am part of the Health Study 2 butI need to write them since have had several heart attacks butI have no damage. I do not have any systems that make you think I am having a heart attack. They only saw there was a problem in the MRIs that were part of the stress test. They thought we had a 70% blocked of the LAD but it was 90% in the CATH Lab. Whole plant food diet is where I have gone. One thing is for sure this Covid thing has made it very difficult to shop for my family and even visit with people. I was even bared for going to Church so I was helping to produce the program from home on Sabbath . I became very isolated and still am some what at Church because a have a bunch of Germofobics around me. My town friends have decided that spending time visiting is more important and very few have become sick because the are maintaining their friendships. We have decided that we must breath fresh air drink good water, get sunshine and eat very healthy food and not live in fear if we are to be healthy. I know this as part of the 8 laws of health. They aren’t dying off like flies but if they get sick they are getting well at home.

But they are all reputable brands, so perhaps that's what matters. Right now I am on USN's Digest and Cleanse enzymes since they are readily available, unlike other brands. In fact, these are killing parasites in my feet that I didn't know still lurked in there - after taking 20 tablets per day for a week to see what would happen. Makes sense since some parasites are proteins in nature. Makes me very sleepy though I noticed. In the past I used Heal-n-Soothe - this is a very good product. Its hard to get where I live since the supplier doesn't use re-sellers - it takes forever to arrive and Customs import charges can be ridiculous. But its worth it if that's the only option you have. And of the last few years our current vocation as security officers vacation pay has been eliminated. We both previously drove commercial trucks. I have had a couple of chronic diseases since I was 14 years old and now have two more that I think are associated with the lifestyle I could not resolve to my circadian rhythm for nearly five decades. I failed countless times to have the time to schedule an education that would not fit into the demands of 70 to 115 hours per week at work most weeks. For safety reasons, the trucking industry also limits the number of hours truckers can drive each day. The limit per day is 11 hours, and if the driver works as an employee for a company, the company has monitors on the truck that let the company know when the driver is nearing and has reached the 11-hour cutoff. If the trucker goes over the 11-hour limit, and they get pulled over during that week, they will get ticketed for thousands of dollars. The over-the-limit incident is in the recorded log that the driver must produce to the officer, and doesn't get deleted out for a week. Sleep deprivation is taken very seriously in the trucking industry, and is one of the many factors weighing in on why there is a severe shortage of drivers contributing to supply chain shortages.
@lucybraun8969
@lucybraun8969 2 года назад
@Asherah Yes, I know it's the DOT that regulates the trucking industry. Companies also have to answer to their insurance carriers. I once went over, too, because there was no place to pull over with snow blocking everything. My company kept putting me in too many compromising situations like that where I could get massive tickets, so I left. Lots of drivers with my company were sick and tired of those conditions. So many variables on why there's a trucker shortage, but sleep was not an issue for me, so long as there was a place to pull over.
@Inkling777
@Inkling777 2 года назад
These regulations don't solve the problem because they fail to deal with the actual conditions drivers are under. They leave a driver on the road no matter how tired because that 11-hour limit has not been reached. And they force a driver to stop who is not tired or sleepy and won't go to sleep. And when the dictated sleep time is past, they force the driver back on the road, but now with inadequate sleep because they were stopped too soon.

I've had 2 children in the last 6 years and I have to say I haven't slept a complete 7 hours in that time. The best I've done is 6 straight hours and I can count thay on my hands. I usually get 3 hours before interruptions and now I've gotten so used to it I wake every 3-5 hours. The knock on is a battle with a lot of discomfort that are linked to inflammation and insulin resistance. I always suspected sleep had a part to play in this. Now I'm convinced it's played a big part. This is an area I need to address promptly. Thanks to you both for your insight.

He checked my oxygen saturation levels and pulse and showed me how to do it. He explained what happens to the body in COVID and how to manage it at home. This is what helped me to be less anxious and sit it out. Not understanding my body creates a feeling of lack of control and panic. We need this information to understand our bodies and why certain things are important for life. At school we learn nothing useful for life and being alone. I know a fair amount as a I had a pulmonary embolism and want to be knowledgeable. It made such a difference. I also keep saying to my teacher late night tuition is too stimulating and I need time to wind down. Change the times to mornings and drink calming tea. 15 mins breathing with Meditation before sleeping works for me ….I often feel free when I stay up late and sleep in late …..I am not a 9-5 min - fri worker, so overall a good 8 hour sleep induced rest seems an answer

My back hurt, I needed to shower to help my back and put work clothes on to rush to that day shift that I hate. or.. Even worse...Working swing shift was hell. I gave up on trying to sleep as it would keep changing before I could adjust to be able to sleep at all. 2nd shift not too bad. It is another shift where you get plenty of time to sleep and then do stuff before you go back to work.

I wondered by reducing inflammation like a swollen finger to just let it be and not ice it as it has purpose . The inflammation reduces movement of the damage tissue . It has purpose . Inflammation is a response to damage of cells . You can look at it as the inflammation is not the problem . It's what causing inflammation is a problem like arthritis . You eliminate the problem you eliminate over inflammation . I don't think excessive light is the problem for sleep . In the summer you can still have setting sunlight up to 9am . Lack of sleep is anxiety and not being able to quiet the mind . Another big factor is modern humans may not physically work very much as in an office environment so your not physically exhausted which helps with sleep . My sleep has really improved after my dog passed as I worried about her as she had diabetes . Chronic pain. Which is tied to inflammation will keep you from sleeping . My neighbor has that problem with back issues . I also wondered if medicated sleep is real sleep?

I have tinnitus and it causes anxiety which then creates insomnia, it is horrible. The only thing I’ve found that helps is earbuds and music. That being said I don’t believe I really get into a deep sleep. I’ve not been able to find anything or a doctor to help. 😔

It is tough I know. I Would tecommend: Running in nature, learn meditation, start yoga lessons and maybe lose weight.

@Asherah I wish you luck it sucks!!! I’ve also been around loud equipment. I’m sure that has not helped. I did get a chuckle out if the liver detox 😂. Show me the Science for that one lol.

Now I have better sleep during daytime than during night. The warmth and energy of the atmosphere is better than night.
