More often than not, you meet negative people which in turn makes you feel down about yourself because your subconsciously comparing your life to theirs when you don't even know what's actually going on behind the scenes
@@fabs2777 although it is a social media, I feel like RU-vid can be used in a better (or less harmful) way than the other ones, although there are contents in short form like this that are the worst ones for you, you can also watch less stimulating things (long, unedited videos, for example a lecture or an audiobook). I would say that it can be a good tool as long as you watch out for what you're consuming
I'm tired of wasting my life on a screen. Social media was the only thing that has been keeping me from reaching my goals and priorities. Never again will I compare my life to somebody else's because that's when you feel down about yourself social media may make people's lives look all sunshine and roses all the time, but you don't know what's actually going on behind the scenes. Make this make sense.
I was a huge gamer as a kid and i noticed nowadays to get through a game feels like a chore. I never used to be like this. Gotta make the change. Good luck to all of you trying to kill these addictions.
I’d highly reccomend hamza to y’all, he talks about video game addiction and how to quit and stuff like that, stopping instant gratification activities
I moved away from social media and now I spend more time with family they don’t judge me they just accept me. I’m more happier now. Of course I tried social media everyone did but now it’s just stupid. I can’t even talk to people now with out seeing a phone infront of their face. People need to find a hobby other than their phone.
This is so true. I was really addicted to Tik Tok and other social medias for a long time and I began to feel really down, didn’t enjoy movies I used to love, couldn’t concentrate, was always scrolling on my phone and was not productive at all. Having said all this, I didn’t find joy in drawing in which I used to love to do when I was in the house. I deleted it a few days ago and hopefully will build up the courage to delete all social media.
I took the time I wasted in social media and put it back into productive things. I finally finished building my car I was putting off I refinished my benches I built from scratch with recycled wood. I finished a few video games and watched a few movies I wanted to see. I never noticed how much social media takes up your time it’s a big time waster.
@@ryans413same here although I’ve been just traveling and enjoying life especially the little things. Just the other day I watched the sunset from a cliff above the ocean and I felt so alive it was incredible. It’s almost like I forgot how beautiful life was until I deleted all my social media
You can do it. I quit using Insta and Facebook a few years ago, and I was afraid it would have a negative impact on my life, but it definitely did not. I'm closer with the more important members of my social circle and family now, and I can enjoy my own hobbies more without feeling the need to share progress constantly. It's so worth it to quit.
I’m the same way I noticed as soon as I quit the social media I became more happy and closer with my family which I’ve enjoyed being with. I’m hardly on my phone at all there’s nothing I need to check unless someone texts me or calls me.
i've noticed recently that using social media mainly twitter makes me feel extremely lonely, and i plan to cut off using it past 7pm as it gets especially bad at night, and cut my usage in general in the coming months slowly
Yep twitter is especially bad. There's some very bad vibes about it. Everyone just screaming, being smug and so on. Not to mention any lack of nuance. The lonely feeling specially comes from the fact that no one seems to be responding to someone else... All of it is just a monologue even if there's a couple tags.
Twitter , Facebook , Instagram , Snap Chat , Tinder , What’s App , Tick Toc , Only Fans , Twitch are all awful and you should stay away and enjoy your life don’t waste it scrolling through feeds and comparing yourself to others instead you should be enjoying the little things in life family nature your overall health fitness and have a hobby other then social media. Do some art paint something read a book work on a car build that project car something other then wasting the day on Tick Toc.
This makes so much sense. I've been thinking about how on social media we can see so many different things in just a few minutes, that's so toxic for our brain in long term. I've noticed I can't concentrate anymore to watch a 10-minute video on RU-vid, even if it's about something I really like.
@@rafaelatakami8019 it's been 1month i have uninstalled insta & facebook (only using snapchat) and now I don't feel depressed cause I am spending time with my family and reading books and working on my goals I feel so much happier it was a good decision for me
You tube shorts are bad for this. I went back and watched a 40 minute documentary on Titanic and really enjoyed that more then the 50 some you tube shorts I watched
For a year I been struggling with everything. And I tried to find what's going on. And I wanted to go back to the good times. But I realized that the reason that I ended up in this situation is using social media for a long time during covid periods. Now It's time to quit. ❤
I completely agree...I am not enjoying anything from last 1.5 or 2 yrs ..even things that I used to enjoy..listening to music was not exciting anymore....was very worried about what is wrong with me...I thought I have fallen into a state of depression. ..but overuse of social media seems to be the real culprit
It's been long I quit Facebook and Instagram. Now when I look at people using it half of their issues or half of the things they are bothered by seem absolutely unnecessary to me. It has ruined people without them even realising.
Even I want to delete my Instagram but after few days i install it again because I get remind of the posts which I have saved in Instagram where as snapchat the issue is streaks which I have maintained
You know, I never thought of it this way. You never truly view anything at it's full value until you quit social media. People are worth so much more than just a photo, video or hell even a Tik-Tok.
Honestly this helps I can see why my life is not as good as it seems is because I’m always on RU-vid or Instagram for a good amount of time and it sucks tbh and hopefully I fix that soon
@@sweetsmakemeshredded3672 bro thats the question. After doing something productive for school or improvement purposes ( Reading,Meditating and journaling) i usually tend to be able to watch some Netflix or hang out with friends. But not not before that. What i found very interesting and also very comforting is that its also okay to be bored and to let the mind wander. Oftentimes we consume social media or else to keep us distracted from what lies deep down in us. It really is very eye opening to let these emotions come to the surface for once. Taking some time for yourself, without any distractions, just to be able to think is very valuable.
@@g--raff8154 Hitman games keep me occupied for hours since certain challenges and missions require precise planning. Other then that just avoid those pointless mmo games.
@@franklayton2243 Video games could work for some people. But the video games I play can be replaced with reality. Like DBZ or any aspect of being op with a high limit
From waiting for 15 min to play a 2 min vedio as a 10 year old to not being able to focus even for 1 min..., I cant imagine how much i messed up my brain from the past few years...
Yes social media is a huge problem now. If evolution happens , it will be for our eyes in future. RU-vid shorts is a bigger problem. Thank you Sir , for realising us the importance of social media addiction.
That’s so true like I’m not looking at my phone much anymore when there’s people around and mostly when they are people around, they are looking at their phones instead of having a conversation with you. People have become more anti social nowadays which is sad tbh
I was never big into social media until the pandemic hit, and I got tik Tok and started spending a lot more time on IG and what not. My attention span was getting so bad so I deleted everything about 3 months ago. I’m only just now starting to have my attention back to normal.
Same here.. once the pandemic hit, I felt lonely, got addicted to social media and constantly sought attention. Now that I've quit for a year I've never felt so much happier and have appreciated the present moment.
I haven’t used social media in over 10 years I use to have fb but it stopped there because it was ruining my relationship at the time fb was super popular. I haven’t turned back since and it kind of even feels a bit empowering to not have it.
Yes. I used to love games and movies. But after I got my own phone and social media, gaming wasn’t fun anymore and also I couldn’t even watch a 2.5 hours movie. Cause my life was already a scrolling machine. Now I quit social media and I’m enjoying my life as before. I am also making progress on my studies. Hope all of us can lead a simple and happy life like before❤
I recently quit social media and I’m so glad that I did, it’s made me calmer, less anxious and has given me way more happiness than when I used Instagram.
@@1991-presentI opened again instagram and tiktok also for my job.I djing and i think these are good for uploading videos. But sometimes i wanna delete them
At least RU-vid has educational videos and personal interest videos that can actually teach you something valuable, it can be bad too doing too much of it, but still the least damaging of all the social media.
U know what I was a reel addict and always watched reels but when I realised one day that it's Ruins our life then I went out from the house like 2 months after that fresh air was so relaxing and when I played outdoor game it was an amazing experience I advice that stop 🛑 watching social media It can change ur life if u r under 20 then it is the best advice I can give 😊
Lately, I've been struggling to find enjoyment in anything. I spend hours scrolling aimlessly and can't seem to muster any interest in playing games. I feel sluggish and unmotivated when I do try to play.
This is True Because I Personally Experienced That When I Use More and more social Media For No reason My Concentration ,Focus , Visalization ability , I Feel Lost And I Wont To Enjoy Every Thing But I Cant ..
Thank you for opening up my eyes. I always knew this but this video was the reminder that I needed. I might leave social media and the internet forever but I Subscribed to your channel on the way out. 👍
Exactly, I agree and all the reasons are true. If I want to incorporate myself in any work I can and while watching a movie it bores me. Exactly, i feel I should quit using it. Thank you sir for clearing my doubts.
I probably wouldn't quit social media, but I would take a few days off sometimes. I think that's the best thing in doing it that way, especially when it comes to your mental health.
I've cut down significantly. I avoid going on social media nowadays. But I go in small doses. But I mostly use to post life updates and message people.
Rob, there is always advice on WHY you should quit. But I think a lot of people struggle with HOW to quit. How do we actually take action on your advice and keep ourselves ACCOUNTABLE? Many times people watch your self-help videos, but go on to do the same detrimental things as always. Please make a video on this, thanks a lot.
Set up a timer for each app and reduce it day by day. Find some activities to do instead of wasting time on social media. I know its hard. I'm wasting 4 hours on average on Insta, RU-vid & Reddit. I have only just begun bettering myself.
And it's really no surprise that people's attention span has reduced _drastically._ It's because we get everything ASAP, and we're used to not having to wait. So now, when we *have* to wait or focus on one thing for a longer period of time, we get impatient and frustrated. This is a problem - that at least minimising sm can help or even fix (at least to some extent).
Leave your cell phone at home as you drive to town or to go shopping. Just being in your car without your phone brings you back into normal reality. No stress. Otherwise you are connected even when not using it.
Why ?, I might need my phone if I have some car trouble etc, it's better to just delete social media al together, I only keep RU-vid with no notifications because it has educational videos.
I still have ig…but never open It unless someone messages me…I value my time n would rather play a video game or read/exercise when I’m bored……yes video games are more enjoyable than social media….I’ll be honest I do keep it somewhat updated because hey it’s the way of the world now n atm I’m single so can’t be a complete hermit ✌🏾
Your contents are underrated. JSYK!! Personally, the only reason I use social media is for work. lol, if it doesn't pay me, I won't waste my time on it. Thanks for sharing bruhv.
THIS MAKES ZERO SENSE BECAUSE I ENJOY PLAYING MY GAMES FOR 1 HOUR STRAIGHT . I WATCH NETFLIX SERIES FOR 10 episodes straight ! I watch the RU-vid videos I like and I enjoy it there 30 minutes long I wish it was longer 😏😏
Personally, whenever I feel like I lost touch with reality or that I’ve been comparing myself to others too much.. I take a break from social media by deleting the apps for a week or two. Do this and you’ll actually feel your mental health improving and you will enjoy life more.
Same… when I took a year break from social media I lost every one. Still not worth going back for but I realized that most people in my life weren’t really adding any value outside of social media.
