Among many of their ambient sounding tracks, this is by far my preferred side of them. A slow build-up to a more aggressive sound, I like this especially along with other tracks like "vanilla" that have a similar pace. It feels like they're finally found their new sound since they've been going into more alternative rock. It makes me happy :)

Someone asked me "is this song about sex or drugs" and I said "yes?" Alternatively, it could also be about how American consumerism isolates people. That's the beauty of art, can I have multiple meanings to people despite what the author's original intent may have been!
"american candy" is a metaphor for a number of things, but I don't think it is referring to drugs.. I think it's more in reference to material greed and the indulgence that surrounds american culture
***** From what I understand, it's apparently girls, or when friends that appear are super awesome are the people who backstab you. I like to think the latter because I know the feeling.
