I’m so shocked everytime I see either Rhett or Links children. It’s crazy how some of us have followed Rhett and Link for so long, that we’ve seen their children get older and older.
First, yes we are still listening to Ear Biscuits, Rhett. Please don’t ever stop this because it’s my favorite part of Mythical. Second, I feel like every time I hear about a vacation of yours that you’re speaking my language. I often worry that I’m not getting the best experience or am I seeing the best thing to see. I try to pick out moments where if this is the best thing that happens on this vacation then it’s totally worth it.
It was alarming because it was different, but I think it sounded a little more professional. In terms of media transitions, letting the audio transition before the video makes it a little more smooth.
im glad that even after all their success a 4 inch lobster roll for $21 still suprises them. Other youtubers will spend $40 on a bottle of water, they dont understand the value of money.
in mine too! XD it's rather bittersweet imo, like "i could have had this? (in a father and a family) i really missed out on a healthy and loving relationship" but at the same time i'm so happy to see them being amazing dads to their children and husbands to their wives :"
@@kelleyabitbol6156 I totally get the food part, my dream trip since I was a teenager was to go cross country in a RV , tasting every states pizza. (Sadly this will never happen). The being recognized part of Rhett, is that he has a fragile ego that constantly needs to be fed.
I did my PhD in physics at Yale. I can honestly say that watching GMM every day at the crack of dawn before I started working was what kept me sane for 4yrs.
Around 46:52 when Rhett talks about the travel centres we have in the Northeast, i was baffled to learn that that’s not a thing everywhere. You mean you DON’T have these big squat brick buildings with parking lots along certain stops on the highway that a) tell you about the area you stopped in, b) offer tours & other travel info, c) have multiple nice restrooms, d) have an overpriced convenience store, AND e) have at least 3 fast food/drink places inside??? Wild. (Please read tone as teasing/light hearted! 🤖)
I drove several times across the country, they seem to stop somewhat after you get out of the midwest. I feel like once you get CO the landscape is interesting enough so they don't need those tourist rest stops.
I think it’s funny that people are shocked that people who do serious jobs or study “top tier” disciplines actually enjoy “low brow” entertainment. I think it’s considered like a brain break. When I want to be entertained, I don’t always want to have to think. I have watched GMM and listened to ear biscuits for years because it’s light hearted and easy to take in without work.
As someone who lives and primarily travels within the northeast, I am shocked that they don’t have these “travel centers” as Rhett calls them elsewhere in the country? Hahaha
Rhett interacting with Barbara is always good content. Loved this podcast, boys! Rhett's trips are some of the best stories for me because I feel a lot of what he feels when doing anything 🙃🙃
So glad to hear the Maine compliments :) I have lived here my whole life, and it is true, you never get used to that chill in the air. Lucky that a Maine beast got to meet you! Rare for sure!
Just throwing it out there: I’m both a mythical beast, and a prestigious student!! (I think we are just a less vocal bunch while on the internet) I’m out here being my mythical best!
On the public restroom scenario, I totally agree. In 2008 I was in Chicago with my friend, she was trying out for Project Runway (she made it, Kelli from season 5). While we were in line we found out where the car was parked it would get towed because they do street sweeping for an hour. So she stayed in line and I started driving the car around looking for a restroom because I had to pee. There was nowhere to park and the few places I could did not have restrooms. I'm not proud of it, but I peed in a cup in the car. There, I said it. I peed in a cup. We definitely need more public restrooms, lol.
I'm kind of surprised driving from Maine to Boston, you didn't plan a stop in Salem. Also, it's a little overpriced, but one of the best historical things in Boston is Union Oyster House. Good clam chowder and history there.
Rhett, thank you SO much for sharing your experience visiting the DC monuments at night. I live in the DC area and exploring the monuments by moonlight is the best way to see them/avoid the crowds. It was also nice to hear that your visit helped you appreciate the nation's history and hope for more peaceful times. Thanks for sharing your experience - this was one of the best ear biscuit episodes in recent memory, in part because you really made us feel like you took us with you on your trip!
It is so WIERD hearing you talk about places in Maine that I visit often. Firstly, I'd like to apologize for the crazy people in Portland, they seem just as odd to me and I'm a local. Secondly I'm glad the trip turned around for you! I'm always lowkey keeping an eye out for you guys because I know you come by often for Vacay. I promise, if I ever see either of you, I'm just gonna come over and say "Hi" (that is, if I don't get too shy) ~ Your Maine Mythical Beast Emily :)
Hello from ponte vedra beach FL!! I live in between Jacksonville and St. Augustine. I grew up in SC though and I love to hear y’all’s stories about growing up in the rural south as I can relate so much to it. It was a pleasant surprise to hear you mention st. Aug and the Castillo! Most people don’t know that St Aug is the oldest city in the US. Jacksonville is huge, but I have to say it is relatively easy to navigate compared to somewhere like ATL. I listen to every ear biscuit and will continue to for as long as y’all make them. Much love to you guys!
Absolutely agree with you that they are tourist traps. I always sad to hear tourists who leave Philly disappointed with Pats and Genos, because almost any pizza place will have better ones. Amoroso roll, gooey American cheese. None of the gimmicky BS.
@@IanBpa I was born and raised in Philly and agree as well. Almost any other place is better than Pat’s and Geno’s. Since I no longer live in Philly, I just order Amoroso hoagie rolls online and make my own cheesesteaks at home. Cheaper and tastes amazing.
100%, also, you have to get the cheese whiz, the provolone on a cheesesteak just isn't right and not a true Philly cheesesteak. It sounds like it may not be great but the way it is melted and combined with the meat is what makes a cheesesteak great in my opinion. It tastes nothing like the nastiness that comes out of a spray can when it is in a proper cheesesteak.
I live in Portland, so happy to hear you enjoyed the Old Port and our forward woman! They tend to get a little stir crazy with the long cold winters being stuck inside the house.
As an IVY league student (not Yale) I can confidently say I've seen every episode of GMM and I will continue to watch until there are no more videos!! - I would have the same reaction as the kid at Yale if I saw Rhett and/or Link too.
Hey guys. Rhett, you did the DC part right. When I get visitors, I make sure to take them on a night bike ride. It’s a whole different experience. It’s peaceful and you can really see more without feeling rushed.
As a Mainer that moved across the country after undergrad this makes me so happy. My grandfather and dad were both lobsterman and Maine will always be my home (even though I have selfish allergy 😂)
When I was 13 or 14 i went to visit family in Wisconsin. They took me to a place called The house on the rock. I think Rhett would really enjoy it. You should check it out, it's pretty insane.
Watched your Food Network show! Loved it! My hubby did too. Stopped at Chipotle on my way home from a doctors appointment, because the show made us crave Chipotle, and it was PACKED! I wondered if everyone there were Rhett and Link fans?!?!
wow that bathroom thing is weird, here in Canada all the Walmarts, Staples and most large grocery stores have public bathrooms. All the gas stations have them and most chain coffee stores like Tim Hortons have bathrooms that can be used without having to purchase anything.
In the UK places that serve food and drink have to have public bathrooms, but other shops don't although bigger places like supermarkets usually have them anyway.
As someone who is born and raised in CT, this episode makes me so happy. No one ever talks about us tiny states. That includes all of New England where it only takes an hour or two to get to Boston, Rhode Island, etc. You can't get the same historic feel almost anywhere else, and Yale campus is gorgeous to walk around. Your choice, I'm assuming, was between Pepe's and Sally's, and Pepe's is great, but I've actually been hearing Sally's is better these days if you ever come back! The style of pizza is actually called New Haven style, which is similar to neoplolitan but slightly different. There's even better pizza, I think, at Naples in Farmington. But you'll never find yourself there, I'm sure. Anyways, I'm glad you got to check us out! Loved hearing about it.
The monuments is DC are the best in the country. I am so proud I grew up so close to them. I wish you had time to visit Annapolis and Baltimore. Maryland rules!!
lol my husband is a lobstermen here in Maine you could of stopped by our house in Falmouth and had free lobsters, lobster rolls, scallops and corn on the cob!
The fact that the Yale student recognised him as "Rhett from Rhett and Link!" instead of "Rhett from GMM" proves that old school Mythical Beasts are more high brow. 😎
I went on my honeymoon in Maine! It was so much fun! Everything there is just adorable (at least where we were). Even the fire station and the hospital were styled to fit that New England Colonial style. It was so much fun!
I love hearing other people talk about places I’ve been. I always watch videos about places I haven’t been so I can go to certain places when I get there. I love hearing how he experienced these familiar places.
Coming from the US, a couple hundred years is pretty old… I now live in Germany and walk by the ruins of a Roman theater every day… I recently found out it’s over 2,000 years old. I had to sit down for a moment.
Do they not have travel centers in other parts of the country? I’ve lived in New York/the northeast my whole life and I’m just used to having a rest area and a big travel center to go to the bathroom when you need to, is that not the case anywhere else? Lol
As someone who grew up in CT, and currently lives in NYC, I've heard a lot of shade thrown at CT pizza. Glad Rhett at least acknowledged the solid pizza coming from New Haven! (even if he didn't think it was the best).
Rhett- forget about Pat’s and Geno’s forever. They are tourist traps! You need to experience Jim’s on South. They’re the best! John’s Roast Pork (with homemade sweet peppers) another great option.
As a latin american person who lived in south carolina i can confirm that even just looking at the signs for South of the Border felt a little bizarre. I never understood why it existed or really what it was. I'm not even mexican but it felt uncomfortable. lmao gotta love SC
So sad you were in Philly and I didn’t see you. If you come to Philly again, go to Jim’s on south st! Also no one from Philly likes pats or Genos. But if you go there cheese whiz is a must lol
8:36 when Rhett says “…and that morning when we woke up…” after he explains how the 25 yo girl hit on them I thought that was going to go a different direction 😂
Headed to Portland, Maine to be a camp counsellor from England this summer, glad to get the inside scoop on the best lobster roll before I go, not sure if my salary will extend to a $21 roll but given I’ll probably never be there again I’m sure I’ll make it work at least once lol
If either of y’all end up unsupervised in Boston again I highly recommend spending at least a few hours in Chinatown. Ive spent a lot of time in that city and Chinatown is probably my favorite area to eat. The Boylston Street area as well if you want to eat a little more “frou-frou” and knowing Rhett’s love of tasting smoky delicious spirits I know you’d love The Citizens Pub
Amazing episode, loved hearing about all the trip happenings. Plus being a DC native and UVA grad that they had a good time in both places made me extra happy!
I had no idea Rhett was in Maine!! I've lived in southern Maine basically my whole life, pretty close to York. I would've loved to have been able to say hi, but I'm glad you had a great time here!!
It's so weird hearing you talk about places in New England that I've been to 100 times. I love Frank Pepe's! RI isn't much more than what you saw though. Please come back soon!
Oh shit you went to Savannah, I live there! I wish I would have seen ya. When you and jessie come look up Savannah canoe and kayak and come on a tour with us! The water is the best thing about this area
I can’t believe you were in York! I grew up one town over, my whole family has worked in York at some point. So glad you enjoyed your time in my home state. And yes, the water is freezing😅
