I am an American. I have travel to Europe many times. I have visited London, Paris, Rome, Lisbon, Lucerne, Prague, Munich, Barcelona, and Madrid. Madrid has a very especial place in my heart. Madrid, by far, is my favorite city in Europe! Salutations from, USA!
I studied abroad in Spain, specifically in Madrid, and it was a transformative experience. It has so much culture, art, and pride that you don't have a choice but to appreciate and admire it.
your xenophobic supremacist Castilian guardia civil keep arresting torturing and repressing Catalan Europeans speaking Catalan in Catalonia - why don’t you start a channel to tell the TRUTH about the HATE Castilian have against Catalonia ??? Talk about your Castilian Spanish HOLOCAUST
There is nowhere like Spain. Every region, city, and town has something amazing and unique to offer. I lived there for a year and a half and it was such an incredible place to call home.
Bravo! Bravissimo! VIVA Madrid! Love it, great documentary. The Prado is the Holy Grail of Museums. Velasquez the greatest and my favorite. I'm going to retire to Madrid!
De Madrid al cielo, it indeed is a fab city, it's people, architecture, museums, music, tapeo, vibrant city that nunca se duerme. I went to study there for 2 years, the years went on and on, never wanted to leave...
From the European Capitals that I have visited... London is the most interesting and atmospheric Paris is the most romantic and charming Rome is the most glorius and historical Prague is the most beautiful and... Madrid is the most human, elegant and sensual! I Love them all so much I can't decide which is the best! Cheers from Grecia.
demgroc57 OK. I recommend you to visit Budapest . Its very beautiful too, even if its a bit neglected due to not enough funding to restore the handsome buildings there.
I agree with you! I am an American. I have travel to Europe many times. I have visited all the cities you above mentioned. Madrid has a very especial place in my heart. Madrid is my favorite city in Europa! Salutations from, USA!
I had a layover in Madrid, over night, going from Barcelona to Medellín. 23 hours, I think I slept like 2, went jamming Ukulele, ate like a king, had a blast. Great city.
@Jim20 What a shame Jim,i have been going there for 15 years, love the place always stay with local people, now they stay with me,You must have been in La Rambla or near there ,horrible place.
I agree about the hotels. I was completely blown away looking at even the local hotel brands in Madrid (on Google Earth). They're on par with Marriott and Hyatt
I believe you are the only vlogger who talk in details about the artworks in the museums. I am impressed. Obviously you are not just out to earn UTube money and your language is the English of the educated. To me that is the ultimate respect you can accord to your viewer. Muy muchas gracias para un video maravilloso de nuestra madre españa. Abrazos desde provincia de yloilo filipinas.
@@AnzuBrief Well, this is your opinion. I find we are and interesting country, with plenty of art, a great variety of landscapes, a wonderful gastronomy and beautiful cities. Unfortunately we also have corruption and a scarcity of water, among other problems...
@@AnzuBrief Whose truth, Yours?.Spain is beautiful...Politicians are the same everywhere...corrupt to the core...that has nothing to do with the beauty of the country and its people...and the quality of life is consider one of the highest in the world...That is why Spanish people are on their way to be the longest living people in the world...Yes, going ahead of Japan...
I love the sentence: "Some spaniards come here to honor him. Others come to be sure he's still dead". You defined Spain more than you think. By the way, Franco is not there anymore.
Spain and Madrid museums art gallery’s views mountains a great. Place to view .Parks Prato museum the great museums that marvels. a must. See capital.Great holiday in the 1990s with a great friend.
It's amazing to know more about Spain's glorious past, rich culture, and modern way of life. Seeing the bed and the grand palace once King Philipp II slept and resided is truly remarkable. Philippines is really blessed and thankful to its Spanish colonizers. Viva España!🇪🇸 Viva Filipinas!🇵🇭
if you wanna know the history of Spain then read history books, good history books, and not these kind of videos, where the topics, false myths and ignorance are very present
By the way, the most impressive thing in El Escorial is the phanteon, when you can feel the History of Spain in front of you, watching all those graves of the ancient monarchs and kings. Saludos desde España and Viva Filipinas
Miguel Magno entonces si no aprendes un idioma al 100% pa que lo aprendes? Ni yo ni tú sabemos al 100% el español pero yo solo le dije que té con tilde es una bebida por que puede ser una confusión tonta ya está
I have been visited Spain so many times, and I still love it. It so beautiful people, friendly, cultures, architectures, food. Someday I would love move there
Miss Spain so much. I am from the Philippines and had I hid the plea of my friends in Madrid to stay back in 1982. I would have been by now Spanish resident an icon to reckon.
I am proud of my Spanish heritage. Being a descendant of Spaniards who settled in the new world, I couldn't help but wonder what life would've been like for me, if we had stayed in Spain...
To the younger people watching this Rick Steves is not a RU-vidr or a vlogger. He is a television host that has presented these travel documentaries for many years now.
I'm from Madrid, and the friends that I have that are from another country but live here, absolutely adore Madrid 😍. I love it here too, the city has something special.
Loved Spain.....stationed there in the Navy. Visited all of Europe , nothing like Spain...there is just something about it.....mystical, romantic, erotic, modest....the food, the dances, the culture, the art, the vino...the food...fiestas galore....and the Spanish women.....wow.....nothing like it...just AMAZING. MAGNIFICENT. Gotta go visit !
Are you saying spain is more beautiful than France and Italy ? Maybe france but Italy ? COME ON ! Siena, Pisa, Rome, Florence, Bologna, Ferrara, Milan, Turin, Genoa, Naples, Sicily, Perugia, Assisi, the dolomites, the lakes, sardinia...how could you even compare Spain to ITALY ???
I was just in Spain for the 3rd time in the past 4 years (Madrid this time) and I absolutely love it. Great fun to see all the places I just visited in your video journal. Beautiful country, beautiful culture, beautiful people. Can't wait to go back!
What i likes about europe in general is after the continent have been the central stage for massive devastating wars it finally settled its contradictions and differences and decided to live peacefully with all the different cultures and nations it has, rich history the birthplace of the western mighty empires, and stark charming contrasts.
I have travelled extensively through Europe, but Sevilla is by far my favorite city, If I could live anywhere in Europe, it would be here,,, Love Spain, great food, great history and wonderful people.
I visited Madrid in June for only 3 days. How I wish I stayed longer. It's such a beautiful place and there were loads of places that I didn't get to see 😭
I also did the day trip to San Lorenzo El Escorial, and I would actually recommend getting an Airbnb there and spending a night. It's a nice change from the hecticness of Madrid, you don't have to rush at the monastery palace, and you'll even get a better price
Me too...I am from the north...León near los Picos de Europa...Is a breath taking area of high mountain, green meadows and slopes...Simple and humble people...Great food...Lots of flora and fauna...etc., etc.,
It was great. I loved it & can't wait to go back . I was in Seville for 5 weeks. Also visited Granada & Cordoba, & spent 4 days in Madrid. Beautiful country. As a history major there is so much for me to see.
I hope I'll be able to visit Spain in the future. I want to visit my ancestor's country and hopefully meet some of my relatives, the Escaño family. 😀 I'm from Philippines. Filipino-Spanish-Chinese.
This video is about 20 years old...pre Atocha attack, pre migrants on the streets. Madrid is beautiful easy to walk and navigate city....and the best capital in Europe because all the high points are so easily accessible and acheap subway,or cab ride. A good first day orientation is to get on a HopOn Hop Off bus tour top level near Plaza del Sol and ride the circuit so you,can orient yourself to the location of the,Palace, El Retiro, Atocha train station, and the Prado.....
Tu te ves Asiatica, de seguro eres Filipina. Las Filipinas fueron conquustadas por Espana, pero ustedes no son Latinos, ni parecen Latinos, parecen Chinos!
Madrid magic great museum s.Great palace and walkways.Great days holiday in the city before the coastline.then majestic cathedral. Magnificent art.the art and famous Genernica painting.the prod great art museums .
The inquisition killed no more than 20,000 people in 3 centuries, the French killed 21,000 in Saint Bartholomew's massacre in 1572 yet the Spaniard got the bad reputation for intolerance. Folks accuses of heresy were allowed to name 10 men and women who hated them and if one was one of the 2 accusers they were set free.
I was deeply impressed by the Valley of the Fallen. Unique architecture and atmosphere that really speaks to you; it's defiant, bold, fusing history and modernity without surrendering to the latter. Not a lot of similar areas around Europe, unfortunately.
Not similar areas around Europe fortunately, it was dedicated to the fallen of the fascist army, and built by prisoners of war. In my opinion either they convert it to a proper war memorial, or if it is not possible they should blow it up.
@@jorgemoyano1728 The far-left POWs got away very lightly, compared to what would be done to them elsewhere for doing what they did. They would have instigated total genocidal anti-church terror like in Russia or in the failed German or Hungarian revolutions in the late 1910s/1920s.
