Have you seen the vid of Benedict on the Graham Norton show where he poses next to this same wax figure and then photobombs "himself?" It's both creepy and hilarious
GeaiHerbe LOL, yes Benedict does such epic photobombs. Between his photobombs at the Golden Globes, the Oscars, Ellen DeGeneres and U2, he is officially king of the photobombers, simply because he does it with such aplomb and that cheeky grin of his. In fact I think they should rename it Cumberbombing XD
He is so courteous! Very few huge stars like him where to be so interested in what people do individually during the making of their wax figure. He even personally try to learn and implant the the hair strand on his own wax figure! XD What a down-to-earth man!
That is absolutely beautiful. In fact, it's so life-like, that I better never ever visit Madame Tussauds; I might accidentally end up trying to steal it. :'D
Omg I went it madam tussauds yesterday and as soon as I walked into the place where all of the wax statues were, I ran over to benedicts and smiled like crazy all the way through the building
Ditto. I hope they kept to the same obsessive realism with the color of his eyes, since one iris is slightly different from the other, and I've thought that was cool. Heterochromia.
I have seen other figures of celebrities that didn't look that much like them. But THIS!! They captured our Benedict perfectly (but of course when you start out with live perfection...)! I love the fact that they got his lips just spot on! Right down to the outline of his top lip. I think I need to go to London! ;-)
absolutely bloody FASCINATING. What talented artists MT's has to bring Ben to life (or anyone for that matter). I love these behind the scenes stuff. OMG THE HAIR...ONE. AT. A. TIME. That is crazy talk. Congrats to all, great job!
It should have been an image of Benedict in his Sherlock guise. Now that would be a wax figure that the fans would really want to have the pictures taken with!
I’m coming back to this cause something great actually happened over my summer. Visited around Europe and whilst I was in London, England I had the chance to go into the wax museum and have a picture of Ben’s wax figure. I was very impressed, it was astonishing how realistic they all looked ❤️
These people are amazing! So much work goes into this! This art of sculpting, waxing and creating is just so beautiful. And you're literally plucking on one hair at a time. Yeah, in for a long night there. Bravo to your commitment! Creating everyday magic.
This is fantastic! The first time I saw a screen shot of the finished product, I thought it was Benedict himself. Absolutely love Benedict! And brilliant work by the Madame Tussauds London team!
The wax figure is undoubtedly beautiful, but it still isn't Benedict. I don't know why, but there's something off about the wax figure that I just can't put my finger on. I spend an inordinate amount of time looking at Benedict's face, so I kind of have it committed to memory. Objectively, based on the pictures, they got it all right. The hair, the lips, the eyes, the face in general--everything is spot on. But when I look at the pictures longer, I feel that something is not quite right, and I don't know why. Maybe it's the fact that the wax figure's eyes are so bland and lifeless, whereas Benedict's eyes are so expressive and full of life... It really creeps me out. Maybe this just proves that perfection can never be fully captured.
Well yeah, but that's a given. It is an inanimate object. It's not a living thing, it's not a human. You can't compare a human being, an actual living, breathing person to a lifeless object. How can you expect a pair of artificial eyeballs to be "full of life"? :)
Tamara D. Point taken. What I honestly (and maybe exceedingly) expected was for the wax figure to have the quality of at least a photograph. I know it must be impossible to fully replicate such beauty, but a girl can dream, can't she?
Nina Dionisio, I think they did a good job with the Benedict wax figure. Same with Prince Harry. It's good joob they have done. But they didn't do so good job with Orlando Bloom. The wax figure of Bloom doesn't look like him.
This is amazing!! Even though I know it's a wax figure, I kept thinking no that's the real man... And Benedict is so awesome, cute, handsome, successful and yet maintains the simplicity that we all adore
Amazing, such beautiful and meticulous artwork that goes into these wax figures, such breathtaking talent! :D One thing I love about great actors is seeing how they can play such a diverse range of roles, and you see how they are in real life. I know I was introduced to Benedict Cumberbatch in a mostly serious role as Sherlock Holmes, and then I saw him in other serious roles like Khan or Smaug, and the mysterious Doctor Strange (though he can be pretty funny too XD). And then I see him in real life where he seems like such a laid back guy, and so sweet and friendly, I just love it. :) I think of his serious roles and then I see him smile at 0:37, and it makes me smile to see his face light up with his smile, it's so nice. :)
Woah, this is soooo cool!!! I love how accurate everything was and how talented everyone is! Makes me wish I could do stuff like that, that is just amazing :D Love it!
The eyes! I had to freeze on that part. I wonder if they customized the right eye to show the brown spot, or did it not show? Fascinating, and the best likeness I've ever seen. Wow!
