Much later than the timespan of the film in question, a late member of the History Group often talked about her young days in the town before WW2, - when the legacy of some of the well-to-do Leamington retirees was still much in evidence. The Parade (and hence, Leamington society) was sharply divided, between "Trade", - the shops side, and "Shade", - Trade being the side for maids, governesses, nannies and other working people, and Shade the side for the well-to-do and other aspirants.
