"Not just move horizontally but also vertically" that's the whole point of the hallway fight in the chadwook park film. It's supposed to be a tight corridor so you can really only move horizontally and horizontally only. It makes the feeling more intense when you're surrounded on both ends and can't escape going left or right.
The original 2003 film is one of the most affecting and enduring masterworks of international cinema, an all-time classic piece of art. I usually try to find at least a few redeeming factors about movies I don’t like, but this remake is actual trash. Fincher’s THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO (2011) is how you do an American remake that actually outshines the original film. This is the opposite.
I just watched Park Chan-Wook breakdown the hallway fight scene… watching this feels like a joke and I don’t really know who’s to blame. Lee and most of the cast have disowned this remake. Maybe the writer? Producers? The decisions of this film are so baffling to me.
Spike Lee disowned it? That’s interesting. I wonder why he released it. I saw it in theaters and was incredibly disappointed but a few tweaks in editing and it would’ve been a watchable film.
As someone who hasn't seen the original, I have no idea where the negative comments are coming from. I genuinely liked this movie‼️💯 Even rewatched it to be sure I didn't miss anything. Josh Brolin was awesome & I was sincerely surprised by the twists & turns in the story. I hate it when I have the "surprises" figured out before they happen, & I didn't in this movie! Ignore the haters & go watch it. 😉👍
