Join guitarist/audio engineer Lee Flier and her merry band of co-conspirators as they demonstrate the unique way the Rolling Stones recorded their iconic "Street Fighting Man." For Lee, this was the culmination of a dream that started when she was 16 and first read the session described in interviews by Keith Richards and Charlie Watts. We hope you enjoy the journey as much as we did!
Credits:
Lee Flier - guitars, audio recording and mixing, director
Peter McDade - drums, suitcase drums
Cameron Dye - lead vocals
Bill Shaouy - piano
Lyle Bufkin - bass
Kenny Howes - sitar, tamboura
Eskil Wetterqvist - percussion
Tom Gibson - shehnai
Christo Harris - video edit

I am completely blown away by this video. What a beautiful, way of showing what went into this song. I have a deeper appreciation for the song after watching this video. And what a bunch of great musicians. Also, I knew Lee was a great guitarist, but this accentuated what a great sense of rhythm she has. I was fascinated by the recreation of the suitcase drum kit as well. I hope Keith Richards and the rest of the Stones can see this. I think they would really love the video and probably have it bring back some sweet memories. P.S. Charlie Watts rules.

As a Rolling Stones-fan and professional musician/studio-owner/producer I already knew the story about the way they recorded this song. But hey, I love this video and it's so awesome to see it being re-created this way! Great job!

Found this from the Yesterday's Papers channel. What huge effort went into making this complete take of my favourite Rolling Stones recording! From one (almost) as obsessed with the Stones as yourself, thanks Lee. And yes I play/sing as well.

Raised the hair on the back of my neck- been a huge Stones fan since I was a kid. Like many rock fans I had a period where “street fighting man” was part of my daily listening mix. Thanks for tearing it down and explaining how it was done. Great content! Filtering this track to the top of my rotation…Beggars and Exile two dessert island albums! Must have and must put on repeat.

Lee, saw your comment on my vid. You did a FANTASITC job here, and did everything I wanted to do but couldn't. Amazing that you got a working philips 3320, I tried but couldn't find one. Really enjoyed this and it tells the full story very well. Great work

Aww thank you! Your vid is great too for those who want to learn the guitar parts or may never have heard how the session happened! And yes, as I mentioned in the video, my Philips recorder was not working either, but luckily I have exactly the right friend who could fix it up! It was no easy task either - the belts had completely turned to goo and melted into the works, which is really common with these recorders. But my friend Paul spent many hours getting it into working shape so we could do this. So glad you enjoyed it! :)
