Hello , I’m that Knito you mentioned . Ofc it’s just one twitter account saying all these stuff , but from what I’ve seen on the CN side (bilibili , I’m Chinese) This situation is very much real , you could argue it’s a vocal minority (as stated by the OP themselves) . But that minority can be very destructive and ofc go to extreme lengths . If you just piece together what we already have nowadays : Firefly doxxing drama , AP male character incident , edit : (new game CN only) GuilonChao glc incident . It just shows how corrupted the CN side is . Though I’ve heard the government is taking action by implementing laws against these crimes . Only time could tell if anything will change .

im a guy but i also want more males cos of the fact that they're more likely to feel unique. theres been so many female chars in gacha that you gotta nail so many different aspects of their design in order for the char to standout and i like wuwa's female chars but i feel like ive seen all them before in other stories. But this is less likely to happen with male chars just cos theres way less of them in gacha

The want for more men is mainly based on leaks, apparently we aren’t getting any until 2.1, which is a while especially knowing how good the male characters look in the game. Just wish the cn community wasn’t so arrogant

I do hope that Kuro does release more male characters. Their designs have been a breath of fresh air and I’d love to see what Kuro can do with other aspects and archetypes. Especially seeing what they’ve cooked up with so far

Correction: Jiyan is still the top selling wuwa banner in japan even with wuwa’s rocky release, yinlin banner is currently 3rd place, while jinhsi is 2nd. women make up pretty much exactly 50% of the gamer demographic. and we’ve seen from love and deepspace and other husbands gacha banners just how much money female-oriented characters/games can make, especially when there’s not that many high quality fighting games in that niche. I understand the loud and horrible incel minority in CN (and even global) communities but it never made any sense to me how little gacha games wanted to cater towards literally half of their whole playerbase and not release more sexy male designs. there’s always way more women characters than men and the few male designs are often just boring and/or completely covered from head to toe and barely sexy (compared to half naked female characters)

I really don’t get gacha players who only want female characters. Us boys all look up to spiderman, batman, and superman as a kid and we thought they’re cool af. Why can’t we have those for gacha games too?

i don't give a damn thing about the male players harassement to those who want male characters in wuwa, just look at the design and gameplay of the latest PGR characters (lee hyperreal, noctis indomitus, watanabe epitaph and wanshi lucid dreamer), those characters tell you that Kuro knows how to make really good male characters and also just by reading their chapters you will like them

This is why I wish there could be a game where its just male characters, like there's so many female character only games out there. (Who knows, if a game like that does release, players like them might troll and come play the game saying "why arent there female characters?") Now, when we get games where both genders are present, toxic ass ppl like this come raiding and harassing players who are not like them. "Oh, just play tears of themis/ love and deepspace if you want male characters". No bish, interacting and actually playing the character is different. Why must we limit good male characters to only dating games? (Side note, this is why I like obey me cause mc doesnt have a fixed gender, very inclusive!) We can even uno reverse card them by saying "Oh you dont want to see male characters added? Go play HI3/ Goddess Era etc." Also the part where they killed a cat that looked like scara... are you shitting me rn?? Sometimes I wish we can ban ppl like this permanently. Like please, get help.

One thing I want to point out is that WuWa has given very few reasons for Husbando enjoyers to spend on the game With Jiyan 'free' from beginning story pulls as the first limited banner, and Xiangli given out for free regardless, there was nothing for players to spend on other than sequence nodes or their weapon. Just like how a lot of waifu players say 'eww, male, skip patch', that's exactly what husbando enjoyers are doing for consecutive patches in WuWa. How can we blame male characters for low revenue when people never need to spend to get them? Waifu enjoyers have been feeling a ton of pressure to spend because of how many characters have or will be coming out. Give husbando enjoyers pressure to spend as well with more new characters. We know they can spend because of Love and Deepspace's performance, just give them a reason to.

I whaled for Yao even if he is free and made him S4, and also sent feedback directly to them both in survey and the normal way, this is the most I can do. Also the Yao event in JPN last weekend was super popular. I hope that they realize the potential. I think he attracted a lot of people to the game, so it is in their best interest to not lose those clients by making them wait too much for another character.

If they don't release male characters in the next 5 months you can bet they lose a significant portion of their player base. Thank you for bringing light to this topic.

Scar and Geshu lin will be One Of if not The Most Popular Character Banners in WuWa ever. I've wanted Scar and Geshu Lin from the start but I think Kuro is saving them for a better time. My favorite character rn is Jiyan and I chose Male Rover over Female Rover. I want more Men... 💀 (Not anything Of Sus)

If Kuro wants to have male character's banners be so rare and few every patch but absolutely put so much effort into them, I wouldn't mind it. I'm holding my opinion until 2.0 banners XD However, I can understand the frustration. Also as someone who's willing to spend for male banners, it's like they don't want us to spend XD

I stand with the sentiment of more male characters, if one comes I don't care much for I save resources. If one comes I like I get a new cool character to play with. That fan derangement do be crazy tho, for sure plays a role

What annoys me is people asking specifically for Scar and Geshu Lin NOW. These characters simply don't make sense to introduce into the game as our allies at this point in the story. We have no reason to team up with Scar at this point, but I have no doubt that will eventually change. Geshu Lin is a mystery that will need to be solved, but we have to reach the point in the story for that mystery to organically enter the story that Kuro has in mind. I don't want a game that shoehorns in Geshu Lin simply to appease people; I want a game that tells a compelling story and introduces characters at the right time to fit the story being told. There are, of course, completely fair reasons for husbando enjoyers to be disgruntled, but they need to keep in mind the flow of the game's narrative when it comes to the particular characters they're requesting. However, I do think that in place of characters that have little consequence to the narrative (like Zhezhi for example; sorry Zhezhi enjoyers, but she just isn't particularly core to the plot) they could absolutely throw in some husbandos to appease the crowd looking for that sort of thing until the big guys reemerge in the story.

not to mention men banners benefits waifu collectors too. it gives them time to save and gather resources for their desired waifu. atp husbando enjoyers could guarantee any character they want with weapons as well. i was able to raise xiangli yao to level 90 day one because i pre-farmed for him and looked forward to him. the problem is that because of people having enough to get their husbando for free just by dailies, it results in less revenue and the argument about how men "don't sell". it's a cycle.

Honestly i hope WuWa don't end being more of the same, like 30+ limited 5 stars females and dunno...15+ 4 stars and end up with 10 males at max with about 8 4 stars. I wouldn't even care if it's old granpas and Granny's, just don't be more of the same

Well i heard that love and deepspace actually is the game with more gambling than WW, that's are one of many factors make husbando enjoyer spent so much money on it. And yeah, the situation with male characters might not be good until 2.0. But... As a one of some people who hype for Xiangly Yao since the drip marketing like me, im quite happy for what we got right now. And we also had Jiyan as maybe the best trailer in WW so far. So i hope that although the ratio of male characters might be low, but each of them has to be really memorable in some aspect

I'm grateful that the chn government has apparently paid more attention to the harassment issue. They've now implemented a law regarding that. I think that's why Kuro said they want to balance out the female-male ratio in the future (when Kuro, when?). They've grown as a company, and now have further backing from the law

I enjoy pulling for both men and women 😊 I do think the story needs more men though. When its an almost all female cast in a games main story it feels very.... unreal to me.

Personally, as a husbando player, I really don’t mind that the male characters are spaced out far from each other. It makes getting their S6 much easier for me. I told myself to be patient, because it all works out in my wallet’s favor. Since getting S6 Jiyan, I skipped every banner until Xiangli Yao, and got him to S4 without topping up (granted, lunite subscription + battle pass). And I’ll do the same until the next husbando. I am pulling for SK tho. That girlie is cracked!

I have always enjoyed playing wuthering waves, but it seems like Kuro is only serving a degener!te side of their community. We do not necessarily need Scar or Geshulin, any male would do and just a fair female to male ratio.

I hope the overall community for WuWa is a lot more positive than other gaming communities out there. Coming from HI3rd, I couldn’t agree more with what you have mentioned about the toxicity of some of the players we have - except that in HI3rd, its coming from both CN & global. I just don’t get it why these players are so oppose of having a playable male characters. If you don’t like the characters then just skip it then. Why do they need to doxx the company up to the point of scrapping the playable male? PS: Mihoyo deleting the ‘male’ avatar is not the 1st time, the last time was when they tried to include playable Kevin, and boy, the whole community went nuts. Lol

I don't condone the harassment but I understand the frustration. With the game feeling like a female character only game gives the game the feel that it's purely made for gooner people. Seeing every character being female makes it very tiresome to play and look at.

As a male player I really like to see male characters in the game, and actively said this every survey. I love how Kuro add characters matching them with the story, and both male and female characters are sooo well done! As a player I value for diversity in the games I play. The way I see, diversity (of gender included) turns the content more interesting and expand the possibilities. I don’t know if this is true but, WuWa seems to have more global players than PGR, maybe this have some practical difference? (I actually spend money for Yinlin banner 😅 because Jiyan came basically for free!)

The CN situation is always crazy, I feel for the husbando players and support their fight for more, esp as a female player myself (although i’m a girl’s girl lol.) the only thing that sucks is the constant spamming under posts about other new characters. Tbh, we have no idea when scar will be playable. Enemy characters like scaramouche in genshin were made playable years after his first appearance. I’m very interested in who kuro will create for 2.0

Looking at Love and Deepspace, I just know that the male characters these games tend to use to appeal to female players don't look good to me. There is not as much of a problem in tastes for male players inbetween regions, the diversity of archetypes for female characters are well explored. But when you rarely market male characters, not only do they tend to stick to known formula, but it also leads to long wait for a male character that fit your tastes, if the last one missed the mark. I would know... I know how popular among the female Asian players these bishounen are, but I'll take the simulation training instructor Yhan over any of the guys in Love and Deepspace any day. Jiyan is kinda a middle ground, so I hope for at least a couple more male characters like him eventually. On a side note : Male players are incredibly obnoxious anytime female players speak up about their tastes. Because there's no data and many games are making use of their waifus to the max, they'll clamor male characters don't sell. But if your game doesn't seem invested in making a product, here male characters, of course the sales don't follow. You didn't even try to capture that demographic in the first place... There may be a minority asking for more, but if the sales don't follow, they won't bother trying again. If they do less, the females players will give up and leave and you'll get less sales for male characters next time. It's a vicious cycle. A game has to prove some actual intention to explore that market, not hope throwing a bait every now and then will magically get them all the fish. I'm just hoping that Love and Deepspace will prove a point and more daring devs will try new things. If a Honkai Impact 3rd game with husbandos instead of waifus happen, I'll play it. For now, they're convinced female players only want to play dating sim and it's the worst.

I am fine with whatever it is, but at least fight fairly. Sending death threads and similar actions would not win you over anything kiddos. Get a life, touch some grass, the game is not what determines your future outcomes so you have to take it seriously.

I don't need to get Scar or Geshu Lin right now, I agree that getting them when they're story relevant is best. However, I would like to know that we are getting male character at all (that aren't necessarily just those two) and if we're getting a male character only two or three times per year. Also, I don't agree going along with these doxxers and harassers. They will just think their tactic is working and are rewarded for it, so they keep doing it. If I was also manic about getting specific characters, should I start doxxing random people and Kuro for it? What nonsense. If gacha games made gender ratio 50/50 or near it from the beginning then those idiots would have less of a reason to expect the game to only be a waifu collector game and the game might attract a different audience.

It is so bad. We only got Jiyan in 4 months (excluding free characters) and it looks like we will not get anything the next two patches. That is nearly 7 months. Just ridiculous. So many players will quit playing.

At this point it's just very tiring, until 2.0 there aren't any male characters. It is literally ¼ of a year from now. and after that it rumors to be Chun ( gun user still female) and they added a another one. And the only decent banner male characters had was JIYAN... And xiangli yao was basically free! It doesn't matter how generous they are If you can't enjoy it! Just thinking, i have to wait for literally half a year to pull a character i like 😅

Well it also doesn't help that since the majority is female. The cracked/OP/account changing/future proof characters usually don't happen to be the male ones. For example with Calcharo and Xiangli, Yuanwu is just never going to be a dps unless you really love the aesthetic of the character. I myself have tried to make aalto work. But besides the fact he's counted as the worst character in wuwa. Chixia just got him beat on the dps scale. I'm not even going to start about the sillyness of Lingyang. So we got Mortefi. The overshadowed/powercrept calcharo for Xiangli and Jiyan holding the line for the males. That is 4 male character in a serious down spiral and we are only in 1.2. So i think a 2 - 1 ratio for F - M would be nice. I imagine a company would sooner choose 3 -1. But regardless of how many they make. If they turn out to be an aalto they will not sell. If they turn out to be a Lingyang it will only be for the niche. If they turn out to be a Yuanwu or calcharo they better make sure another character isn't breathing down their neck already or going too :(.

There's actually a lot of marketing in JP for Xiangli. It looks like Kuro is testing the water with Male characters outside mainland (China).

um this might be a bit of a stupid thing to add but theres been an ongoing meme in the cn sphere where wuthering waves was advertised in bus stops and other places, they marketed that players could get xiangli yao for free but then theres this sign right above the ad (presumably set up by the government) warning citizens to not fall for scams in advertisements claiming that things are free 😭 so idk if that has a slight impact on his sales or whatever probably has zero correlation, just wanted to share LOL i think its more funny than anything

Some people just want to whine about anything just to get noticed or cause drama to make themselves feel good. Even though there hasn't been many male characters, you can bet Scar and Genshu are going to sell better than some of the female banners they've had before them.

With the news about gender change Rover in future updates, why not tried create a character with gender change feature. So in the limited banner, the players can choose 1 gender either male or female and then the players can change gender as they like when unlock S2 (RC2) with male boost cdm + atk and female boost crt + colldown or something like that, the design can be different but not entirely. For the character story can be made with premise like this. There a twin but due to Fractidust in pursuing the ultimate weapon they raid the twin's village & others and experimenting with their souls to put it into doll based on TD to create a Puppet Resonator, but the experiment always fail and many victim died until they tried fusioning the twin's soul. What do you think?

I feel like it is a lot worse in other gacha games, like ToF. At WuWa has like 7 male characters, with more on the way.

Dont these guys want to bring up how genshin has no smol males? All the chibis are always girls. I thought the new one might have male finally, but nope, it's a girl 😂. Im not one to actually care if there's more of one than the other. There may very well be a good lore reason why there are more female resonators than male resonators. How the story moves along will determine what character comes first. Also, it seems that our good Generals' been forgotten about as the first limited character who happens to have been male 😂. 2 limited male characters so far. Sure Xiangli Yao was free but hes still got a banner nonetheless. CN extremists can definitely be found at guilt for the male to female ratio, which not even Genshin, HSR, and ZZZ are safe from. They all have more females than males to varying degrees. It's really not like it's new or will change anything soon for anything other than games that are designed specifically to be male character centric.

Kuro games have always prioritized female characters. Yes, there are male characters, it's a matter of not limiting the game's cast as well as the audience... but there is a clear prioritazed attention to female characters, and to be honest this comes from the entire gacha space itself, a reflection of the female characters give more consistent gains. (ah but a certain male character sold so much here) yes, there will be cases where male characters can sell a lot, but they don't offer as consistent a gain as female characters, which is why you see a greater consistency in female character launches in the gacha market in general. (ah but LADS has been consistently making a lot of money) yes, but does this represent a shift in the gacha market in general, or does it just mean that game managed to capture and concentrate its target audience? I come from pgr and this discussion have being happening in pgr for years, the main point of the discussion is kuro's agenda prioritizing the release of female characters. this change never happened despite all this noise, the only conclusion to be reached is that despite some people asking for it, it is not significant in kuro's data for them to change this schedule, well at least for now. If the demand for male characters is really significant, the companies, especially Kuro, will eventually increase their frequency, if not, they will just continue with their usual programming as they appear to be more consistent.

Ah yes that part of the CN player base at it again, i really hope everyone at kuro are fine and not effected by this

I'm just worried because Kuro is a good listener yes, but they sometimes listen TOO much to the point of having no backbone. I mean, the entire Wuwa story was overhauled from scratch players complained the cast was too hostile, but now they're way too nice. I remember one particular annoyance I had with Kuro having no faith in their creative choices was when they changed Alpha's BRS collab skin to have a ponytail instead of twintails. Because some players complained "twintails didnt suit Alpha". The skin was supposed to be inspired from BRS to fit Alpha, and some of the most important visual motifs was the color blue, star symbols and twintails. Changing the hair basically took away from the skin's identity as a BRS skin so now it kinda just looks like a random star motif skin, not a BRS collab skin. Kuro needs to have more faith in its creative choices, while still keeping itself open to criticisms of gameplay and technicality, yknow where complaints actually DO make objective sense compared to creative choices which are subjective.

The ceo of kuro games said "it's okay as long as we survive" so that's why they won't release male characters BECAUSE DAWG THEY WILL NOT SURVIVE WITH THIS KIND OF (chinese) PLAYERS 😭😭🙏🙏

Now let it sink in that Genshin 1.1 has 2 MALE character banners and they're STILL winning and catering to their fanbase! Why can't this trash of a clone copy a fraction of what Genshin's success, even when the formula is already right there? I'd recommend you all just quit this game and play a game that suits you better than this

As a female and husbando puller (but I also like to pull for female characters I like!) I am completely happy with the pacing of how they are going, I prefer them to do one great male character than too much, even more because I'm a low spender and I'm happy the next patch, I will save after pulling for Xiangli Yao weapon. Personally I don't have issues waiting more for males, I still need to build so many more characters which I currently own that it's wild 😂 as a female gamer that plays a lot of otome games, we HAVE our games and there are starting to spawn like crazy now. I'm currently happy with the whole situation, sadly I didn't know about CN community problem and hope the developers will be alright, I really like how Kuro does all the QoL that needs to be done and I hope the mobile version will get the controller compatibility that I need :')

Hey, Hoyo is in the same position like in ZZZ with 5 consecutive female SSR or HSR does similar. Kuro who also made PGR also has a lower male ratio per year compared to female with consecutive patches mostly focusing on girls. Love in deadspace is popular because there aren't many collectable male games, if anything those yumestacy will also drop those games when they add playable females.

Now : i won't spend any money for a company that wont listen to us, male characters fan, to release more male characters In the future : I'm sorry my beloved 'male characters', i don't have any asterites for you, i don't want to spend a dime for Kuro. always focusing on jiyan not doing as well and not why that happened. 1) the game came out buggy as hell meaning many didn’t feel the need to continue or couldn’t even continue bc the game was literally unplayable to them 2) the game gave away tons of free stuff. even before giving away free things for the countless bugs they already gave away free stuff before it. i managed to get s0r1 jiyan without spending any money on the game bc the game already fed me with lots of free things i always find this reasoning so stupid. if anything it should be explained that way: kuro intentionally shoots themselves in the foot during jiyan’s banner just to justify that men don’t do well. rn most of the husbando pullers were able to get both jiyan and xiangli yao just fine bc kuro made it easy to. one could say why are we complaining then? we’re complaining bc we’re unheard. the game is so clear with its intention. the physics for the women is insane, the endless glazing from female characters to rover, some scenes from changli and yinlin’s companion quests. hell, even female npcs get more love. we have yhan to say anything about meanwhile every patch gives us even more female npcs for people to simp for overall, kuro clearly is doing sth on purpose here. i’m just upset they even bothered marketing this game as having both men and women in it when clearly they put most of their focus on one more than the other. just baiting husbando pullers basically :/

Let's get real here. If you're the one making a product and that product isn't doing well in terms of making a profit. You will most likely make less of that product. This is not so hard to understand lol. I commend those who pull for Xiangli Yao's sequences though. You guys are the GOAT.

I hope they release more male characters soon. I love that we got Xiangli Yao for free as I got to pull for his weapon, but it does feel like they've done so to avoid backlash from CN players. Its not fair Kuro gets bullied into releasing specific characters, and having to give out male chars for free. CN players need to chill out. If they don't want to play male characters just skip the freaking banner.

Well as a day 1 PGR global player and played CN version for some time. This is actually pretty normal for us PGR players. We have seen this for like 3 to 4 years so kinda got used to it. Most of the PGR players don't bring out the topic

It’s not really a rising problem. It’s a vocal minority that complains. The issue here is more perception and misunderstanding. WuWa has currently about the same Male/Female Ratio as Genshin and Star Rail ( 35% vs 32-33% ). Yet, if you see certain comments it almost seems as if they don’t exist in the game, to the point that in every banner announcement there’s a 3-4 comments hating either because it’s not male or acting as if there’s must be a male every patch. The argument with Deepspace is easily explained with the fact that it’s a game made for girls and in gachas made for girls men sell. However WuWa’s target audience is clearly boys, so of course there will be a greater emphasis on female characters. Not to mention, female players are usually the absolute minority in games made for guys, especially gacha games. And even among them, we don’t know how many are that desperate for men and how many are fully enjoying the female characters and don’t care if a male one gets released today or in 2 months. Then there are those who for some reason play games that obviously are waifu heavy yet claim to be tired of them and want dudes; these too being a vocal minority as well. In the end, this is mostly explained by the fact that it’s a game catering to the male audience ( particularly those waifu cultured, which also happens to be the majority ). In my opinion, most people will have no problem with more males, but one should also remember who’s the target audience, to be patient, and not act as if there aren’t any or as if they have to add one every patch. Especially when most of this “outrage” is based on leaks that aren’t usually accurate or complete.

Sadly I saw a similar problem in ZZZ Hopefully Harumasa and Lighter come soon, I enjoy male characters more than female characters and it's a shame not to have a fairer ratio in such good games

as a bisexual, I just play for both and don't mind what character gender they release as long as the character has good lore and personality :D

the beta in the past really says a lot, they don't really like making men, lol. they are just making them to make husbando main stay. also dont underestimate husbando players because they can spend a lot (sees Love in Deep space, even without major event in the game, the game just slaps for them)

The whales are paying for female characters so its up to them entirely. They pay kuros bills after all. Id like more male characters too but no one should be surprised that a gacha game is mostly full of female characters.

There are other games that having a male characters is not that much of a bigdeal because the environment and world building is not matured and dark that’s why they dont stand out but in Wuthering Waves, everything is different because the game is set in apocalyptic world with a deeper and dark lore story behind, so having a male character is perfectly fit in this game because of how matured the gameplay and environment so if they try to keep making male characters, the game will be more better than having all female characters, female characters in apocalyptic world is very off and awkward especially if they’re cute so i hope kurogames listen to global community instead of chinese community but i cant blame them because they get more revenue in china rather than global, looks unbelievable but its real.
